Review: The Witch's Consorts: The Complete Series by Eva Chase 5 of 5 stars

The Witch's Consorts: The Complete Series by Eva Chase

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

#1 Consort of Secrets 5*

Witches are brought up to know that they cannot have a consort from any family other than one that is in the witching community and that they should keep their powers secret from the ordinary people. Rose Hallowell has been compliant with everything her stepmother has demanded but she still misses her childhood friends. When she returns to her family's estate to prepare for her consort ceremony she ties up with her friends again as they have never forgotten her. As she starts to look into thins she realises that she has been lied to all along and betrayed by her family. Determined to claim her magic and control over her life again she is prepared to break every rule she is expected to follow.

Wow - I loved this story. It had so much drama, danger and intrigue that I was hooked from start to finish. I could feel myself reading faster and faster as I just HAD to know what happened next. I was completely behind Rose and gunning for her to get past the betrayals and find happiness with her guys. I really hope there is a next book in the series as it looks like building up to something much more dramatic and intense than this one (if that is possible).

#2 Consort of Thorns 5*

Rose Hallowell is determined to no longer be obedient - she's already broken all the rules to be happy and safe so how much worse can it be? However, her stepmother has put doubt in her mind as to whether she can trust the rest of those in her home. As the thorns close in can her unpractised magic and the love of her consorts be enough to guide them through?

Goodness - just when you think everything has been sorted out something else pops up to make life difficult again. There were plenty of twists and turns in the story and lots of surprises to make sure you had to pay attention to everything that was happening. Well written and easy to understand it was definitely a worthy continuation of the series. As for the twist at the end - wow - the next book cannot come fast enough as I really need to know what happens next.

#3 Consort of Pain 5*

Rose Hallowell has claimed her magic and has the 5 unsparked consorts she is not supposed to have and just hopes for a peaceful life. However everything is threatened by the Assembly – can Rose and her men escape them and find the kind of allies they need to have a safe, secure and peaceful future or will they forever be fighting? Can Rose find a balance of power where she doesn’t extract so much from her consorts that they become ill?

I loved this story - lots of twists, turns, excitement and drama. I liked the addition of more on the impact on her consorts and how they were coping with it. It was well written and everything was very clear and easy to read/understand. I could definitely feel their frustrations, despair and joy at different parts of the book. Definitely recommended.

#4 Consort of Fire 5*

Life is never simple for Rose Hallowell and her 5 consorts - for now, she might have hoped to be safe but the oath to keep her silence is not enough to stop her from trying to find ways to get around it so that the witching community can understand the treat to them and find ways to protect themselves too. So they somehow have to find a way to fight fire with fire although who gets burned is unclear.

Wow - so much danger, drama and excitement. It was great to see how Rose and the guys worked together using every means they had to both find ways to get around the oath as well as protect themselves and those they love. There were plenty of surprises and twists/turns as you would assume you knew how it would develop and then another event would happen and it would all change. Through it, all Rose tried to keep herself above the tricks that the opposition seemed to be prepared to stoop to. A great read that you will enjoy and want to read what comes next.

#5 Consort of Light 5*

In this last book of the series, Rose Hallowell and her consorts would be justified in thinking they deserve a quiet life, but first, they need to do what they can to stop forces that want to destroy the world - time for the inexperienced Rose to show them that she is more resourceful than anyone expects and will never give up. Can her consorts give any more of themselves and will they defeat the threat?

Wow - this was an explosive ending to the series. It was certainly even more dramatic than the previous books as everything worked towards a crescendo that left me both relieved and delighted at the end result. Everything had a great build-up which teased me and then surprised me with the way the result finally occurred. Well written, I really enjoyed it and was addicted to the point that I could NOT put it down until I knew the result of the current situation. I loved the little twists that would appear just when you thought you had worked out everything.

Mark of Damon 5*

In this novella at the end of the series we finish off some unfinished business as Rose and her Consorts settle into their normal lives and Damon resolves issues that have hung around since the battle with the demons in book 5 of the series.

This was a lovely surprise at the end of the series.  It was great to see Damon working through some of the unfinished business from the series and finally finding peace. A lovely surprise at the end which you will love. Well written and very easy to read, this was a great bonus at the end of the series.
