Review: Falling for the Devil: Book 1 in The Gods & Monsters Trilogy by Isadora Brown 5 of 5 stars

Falling for the Devil: Book 1 in The Gods & Monsters Trilogy Falling for the Devil: Book 1 in The Gods & Monsters Trilogy by Isadora Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Harleen is a high school senior living with her Uncle Edgar who is her only surviving relative. As well as studying hard, she is also working to save for college and pay bills (she occasionally has the free time to see her boyfriend too). Enter Andrew, a gorgeous guy with an Australian accent who just happens to be the devil. Edgar enters a deal with Andrew for unlimited wealth - the price is Harleen's soul.

Andrew manages to worm his way into Harleen's life and after a misunderstanding, she finds herself in hell and marrying Andrew. Will she grow to love Andrew or will everything he has worked for fall in a heap and fail. I guess you need to read the book to find out.

I loved this book. Whilst I found the religious undertones a little irritating at times, in essence, it was still a good story, well told. The descriptions of hell were good and I could see it in my head and imagine what it was like. The descriptions of the relationships were clear and easy to understand. Worth a read.

Review: Poisonous Temptation: Division 2 by Isadora Brown 4 of 5 stars

Poisonous Temptation: Division 2 Poisonous Temptation: Division 2 by Isadora Brown
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Aurelia Stone is seen as a joke by her family as she is a witch who cannot do spells so must be just a human. She goes with her sister to watch the vampire gladiator battles but instead of inspiring her magic, seeing Thyos fighting it actually starts a chain of events that could destroy them both. Thyos is part of the feared Berkano clan of vampires but is now reduced to fighting and living alone in the Citta di Paludi. When Aurelia wanders into his own part of the city, is attacked and mortally wounded Thyos saves her and offers her his blood to heal her she goes against the rules and agrees. This sparks a chain of events that causes Aurelia's powers to manifest in a very unexpected and uncontrolled way they are pushed together to escape for their lives. But how can they be together when it is forbidden?

I really enjoyed this story, the whole premise and plot. The forbidden nature of their relationship and the way they did what was right for them no matter the consequences were lovely to experience. My only issue with the story was the way it ended which felt a bit rushed and not so well thought out. I did love their dynamic as a couple and would still want to read more about them in future books in the series though as it was basically very enjoyable more than not.

Review: Sacrifice

Sacrifice Sacrifice by Isadora Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this final instalment in the story many of the strands have to work their way to conclusion. Keirah decides to use her family connection to try and get Jack to help her find Noir, Jack's ex becomes his business partner and does everything she can to get him back from Andie (including investing in her animal shelter) and Reese shares her secret with Andie which is very unexpected. Can Black Wing avoid Lucas Burr the DA from putting him in prison even if he decides to use Andie as bait to capture him?

There were many twists and turns in this story as Andie tries to cope with everything that is happening. I was great to see the relationship between the good and evil in this and how they battled with each other in order to dominate over the other. It was also surprising how what you though was one actually was the other as you learnt more about them. Some of the twists confirmed my suspicions but some came completely as a surprise so definitely a great end to the series.

Review: The Alpha's Possession by Isadora Brown 5 of 5 stars

The Alpha's Possession The Alpha's Possession by Isadora Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Alpha Marcus Sterling has been accused of embezzlement and so Nocturnal Defence agent Bridgette Barker is part of a team trying to arrest him. However it goes wrong, and the cocky and stubborn Alpha bites her before being determined to make her his - no matter what she says. How will this end when the two clash in the battle for Bridgette and will she get her man in the way she expects?

This was a great Paranormal story which educated the reader in some of the features of shifters and the way they interact and find their mates. It was full of lots of drama and danger as not everything went to plan for either of them. The mystery of the charges against Marcus was complex and interesting to get to the bottom of them. Well written it was full of drama and excitement.

Review: Catalyst by Isadora Brown 4 of 5 stars

Catalyst Catalyst by Isadora Brown
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The story continues with the three streams of the story building to an ending with several twists that set up te story nicely for the next (and final) book in the series. Keirah works in the asylum where Noir is cleaning floors but when she is called up to the floor she is not allowed t enter she sees him chained up there - she isn't supposed to love him but she does and so now fate has put them together again she is not going to argue with it. Reese and Andie are trying to track Keirah down to rescue her from Noir but this time she doesn't want to be found and nor does she want to be rescued. Black Wing is also in danger - the persistent DA is determined to find him and stop him. How will it all end?

Well there were a lot of developments with twists and turns in the story. It can be a little difficult to read as the three streams weave their way through the story but I'm sure in the final part of the series it will all come together and make complete sense. I liked the way it all connected back to various mythological streams whether they were Christian or Ancient Greek. Generally well written I just found some parts of the story a little hard to work out due to the different story-lines intersecting.

Review: The Vampire's Executioner: Book 1 in The Somerset Supernaturals Series by Isadora Brown 4 of 5 stars

The Vampire's Executioner: Book 1 in The Somerset Supernaturals Series The Vampire's Executioner: Book 1 in The Somerset Supernaturals Series by Isadora Brown
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Elizabeth Grant (just Lizzy as she insists) is a tops rated assassin working for the Nocturnal Defence Society (NDS) but then gets the sort of assignment she would certainly never volunteer for - being the bodyguard for Nikolai Dragulia who is due to inherit the crown and then rule over the Vampire society. Lizzy just sees him as a spoilt and arrogant prince that she is being sent to babysit - a complete and utter waste of her skills! However as she starts to analyse and investigate the people who as suspected to be behind the plot to kill him she concludes that this really is a big thing and could change everything about the vampire society. As for Nikolai feels he doesn't need Lizzy babysitting him as she might be gorgeous but she is irritating and has one hell of an attitude problem. However as it all becomes clearer and so many people are involved in this plot he realises she might be the only person he actually CAN trust.

This is a tale of politics, intrigue and ultimately of love. I loved the attitude that Lizzy had although I was surprised there were no complaints about her to her management. I enjoyed the major politics between the various vampires as lets be honest what else are they going to do with such a long lifespan. Well written and easy to understand. A pleasant read.

Review: Call of Darkness: Book 2 in The Vampire Pirate Saga by Isadora Brown by Rebecca Hamilton 5 of 5 stars

Call of Darkness: Book 2 in The Vampire Pirate Saga Call of Darkness: Book 2 in The Vampire Pirate Saga by Isadora Brown by

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kelia Starling is pretending to be Sightless which means she is a servant washing dishes, mopping floors - you get the picture. While she does all of that she is investigating the murder of her father by the Society and is also doing a favour for Drew Knight to find a woman called Wendy Parsons who they believe is a captive of the Society. Then she discovers that her father had set up a forced breeding programme between Shadows and the Sightless and it appears she has just been enrolled in it.

This certainly had plenty of drama, intrigue, twists and turns as Kelia navigated her way through all the theories, facts and events to find the truth. I found myself really gunning for her and wanting her to find all the answers she was looking for. Clearly told and well explained it was easy to understand everything although I do think you have to read the first book in the series first - this is not one that you can pick up from a later book.

Review: Awaken: Book 1 in The Dark Paradise Chronicles by Isadora Brown 5 of 5 stars

Awaken: Book 1 in The Dark Paradise Chronicles Awaken: Book 1 in The Dark Paradise Chronicles by Isadora Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is centred around the struggle between good and evil and the impending war between the two. The main three characters are all friends at school who are mixed in this war that is coming in different ways. In this book, two of the three have a love interest which might not work out as you would like (read it and you'll understand).

I found it a little weird when it went back a few times to tell the same part of the story from the other person's viewpoint, but overall I really enjoyed it and became addicted and ended up finishing it when I should have been doing something else. I'm looking forward to finding out what happens in book two - I need to know how some things have worked out and what happens next

Recommended - give it a try and you might find like me you have discovered a new series to be obsessed about

Review: Shades of Fae: A Limited Edition Collection of Fantasy Novels by C.K. Dawn by Isadora Brown 5 of 5 stars

Shades of Fae: A Limited Edition Collection of Urban Fantasy and Fantasy Novels Shades of Fae: A Limited Edition Collection of Urban Fantasy and Fantasy Novels by C.K. Dawn by
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A cracking collection of prequels or full length novels that are all centred around Fae. I will update this as I read and review the individual books inside the collection.

A Kiss of Shadow - Isadora Brown - 4*

Mica Scott is a witch and she has unfortunately indirectly killed a witch herself. She is given a task to find the witch who is lacing human drugs with enchantments, however she has a close shave with her ex-Phillip and supernatural agent Connor Padgett. So when the witch's body is found the next night in the Fae realm she feels guilt and is given the chance to redeem herself - but to do that she has to cross over into the Fae realm and work with Fae Kingsguard leader Gabriel Burr. As they work together it becomes clear to them that it is the tip of the iceberg so they have to put their prejudices aside and work together.

Plenty of drama, danger and testosterone in this story. It definitely set the scene nicely for the next book in this series - I just hope I can wait until it is released. Well written and easy to read, it will reel you in and start the process of getting you hooked on this series and the worlds within it.

Review: Sea of Darkness: Book 1 in The Vampire Pirate Saga by Isadora Brown by Rebecca Hamilton 5 of 5 stars

Sea of Darkness: Book 1 in The Vampire Pirate Saga
Sea of Darkness: Book 1 in The Vampire Pirate Saga by Isadora Brown by

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kelia Starling is a Sea Slayer and has always be told that Sea Shadows need to be all killed. However when he father mysteriously is murdered she has to work with one in order to find out the truth. Drew Knight is a Sea Shadow and the most beautiful creature Kelia has ever seen. When the time comes for Kelia to chose between what she has always known and which she fears is the real truth can she make the right choice?

I loved the characters and the world that has been created in this book which was a perfect setting for the story. Kelia and Drew were great characters that were described well and I felt I could really understand and empathise with their situation and the events around them. A great start to the series and I can't wait for the next instalment of the story.

Review: Discovering Starlight: Book 1 in The Starlight Trilogy by Isadora Brown 5 of 5 stars

Discovering Starlight: Book 1 in The Starlight Trilogy Discovering Starlight: Book 1 in The Starlight Trilogy by Isadora Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the story of two sisters who have been separated at birth for their own safety as they are princesses and others want them to be dead. One of them knows she is a princess and has been raised with all of the trappings of such a life, the other has been raised as a normal person who has gone through education and now employment and has no idea of who she really is. The story is told from the point of view of 4 people and it is easy to work out who you are reading as their name is the heading of the chapter. It ends with a bit of a cliffhanger that comes a little abruptly but is a great first story in this series so a good hook to go and get the next in the series.

Review: Dangerous & Moving by Isadora Brown 5 of 5 stars

Dangerous & Moving Dangerous & Moving by Isadora Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Clara Fletcher is picked up by the Transporter but appears to need a doctor right now so he takes her to the nearest hospital - bad move. When the hospital works out who she is and why she needs help they try to detain them both. He should just leave her to her fate but he can't - instead he helps her to escape and they both go on the run as they are chased across the country as they desperately try to make it to California for sanctuary. Can they get there, can they get on, or will they kill each other first.

Wow - a dramatic story with lots of mystery, danger, and drama in this tale which has a love story woven seamlessly into it. I loved the writing which was so clear, the drama which was so dramatic, and the passion which was very easy to feel and experience. II was routing for them the whole time and so relieved when they saw what was clearly in front of their eyes if only they could choose to see it. Definitely recommended.

Review: An Education in Scandal: A Somerset Novel by Isadora Brown 5 of 5 stars

An Education in Scandal: A Somerset Novel An Education in Scandal: A Somerset Novel by Isadora Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Maggie Jarrett is fairy innocent. Ok she can open open her mouth and not think about what comes out, and she's never been kissed passionately but she is a virgin. She takes a job as a feeder for billionaire Christian Stewart so she's fairly certain that she won't get swept away in her future. But to him she is perfect and he has to have her - to be the one to claim her. The vampire world doesn't consider love at first sight possible but having tasted her and realising she is different (dare he say it supernatural) and he can't get enough of her. So is it her different blood attracting him or her?

I loved this story. It had plenty of drama and some danger involved in the plot which made it quite dramatic at times. Everything was well written and easy to understand the story, the characters and the emotions being experienced. If I had to give one criticism of the book it would be the way some of the story near the end seemed a bit convenient but that could have been just me. I still loved the story though.
