Tempting Her Dragon - Julia Mills - 4*

Wolf shifter Orla McCarthy is an agent with Council Special Branch and has been called into the Dragon Intelligence Agency to help find a serial killer. She has a special gift only known to very few people. She is to pair up with Finley O'Donnel, a Dragon Guard shifter. As the two meet it becomes apparent to them both that they are mates but Orla has no time for that now. They have a serial killer to catch.
A plan was formed using Orla as a target to get the killer. Unfortunately, things didn't work out as planned and she was kidnapped. You can imagine what happens as there is plenty of danger, drama and excitement. Easy to read and understand - an enjoyable addition to the Dragon Intelligence Agency books.

Review: Dragon Her Home: Dragon Guard Paladins by Julia Mills 3 of 5 stars

Dragon Her Home: Dragon Guard Paladins by Julia Mills
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Dragon Guard Paladin Stone is refusing to waver under the weight and containment of the silver chains which hold him he is waiting for the Overlords to finally claim his life he is suddenly freed from his bonds but there is no one there which is strange. He cannot find the other dragon who he knew was being tortured, the Overlord or anyone. Then it became apparent he has been cared for by Annika who is an Arctisune and is his fated mate. Can they learn to work together to defeat a foe who is trying to spoil their future and work out what has been going on?

I enjoyed this story which was fairly typical in the formula for a Dragon Guard story with a few differences as he was a Paladin and she was a new type of shifter - an Arctisune which was a cross between an Arctic Fox and a Kitsune. I liked the twist of the new foe they had to tackle and the cool-headed way that Annika handled it. As always there is a ceremony for them to become mates which follows the typical formula. I'm intrigued now as to what has happened to his twin Sable and hope that will be covered in the next book in this series. Easy to read and understand. Contains some mature content.

Review: Crimson Moon Hideaway: Dragon Dreaming by Julia Mills 3 of 5 stars

Crimson Moon Hideaway: Dragon Dreaming by Julia Mills
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Van is a Dragon Guardsman and an adopted member of a MacAllan clan. He works for the Dragon Intelligence Agency. Lottie Maldese-Dalgaard is a Sleipnir shifter and Van's fated mate and sadly he did not do well with their first encounter. He has a lot of work to do while they fight some bad guys.

I enjoyed this book - it was amusing in places and I always enjoy the setting of Crimson Moon Hideaway. I think it would help others if there had read the previous Dragon Intelligence Agency books. I loved how feisty Lottie was and Van was working his way back to her good books after their disastrous meeting. Enjoyable book with some mature content.

Review: Unwrapping Her Dragon by Julia Mills 3 of 5 stars

Unwrapping Her Dragon by Julia Mills
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Bear shifter Everleigh has coped for 16 years after losing her fated mate Dragon Guard Deacon only to discover he is not dead and is actually back with a tall story and a lot of apologies, but she finds it hard to forget how much it hurt to lose him the first time. Can she leave the past behind and trust Deacon to stand by her side for eternity or will she give up on the holidays forever? If Fate has anything to say about it she will be unwrapping her dragon sooner rather than later.

It was ok as a read. I do find the way that these mates talk is just annoying - for example, the conversations between Everleigh and her best friend. The story was suitably dramatic and there was a confrontation at the end to save the day. It was a nice fairly quick read. It was mostly easy to understand apart from the speech between some of the characters.

Review: Dragon Him Out to Sea: Paranormal Dating Agency by Julia Mills 3 of 5 stars

Dragon Him Out to Sea: Paranormal Dating Agency by Julia Mills
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Lion shifter Mack already got it wrong with finding a mate, so when her sister is on her back and then she gets Gerri Wilder the matchmaker in her kitchen she is cornered. Then she sees Dragon Guard Noah and she wonders why she never noticed him before - after all he has hypnotic hazel eyes and the sound of his voice makes her tingly. But he walks away which is confusing - surely he felt it too? Fate may be messing with her big time, but one’s thing’s for sure – she’ll be Dragon Him Out to Sea even if it’s the last thing she does.

This was a sweet story but did very little for me in some ways - I like the basic story of another dragon guard finding his mate and the drama that it always involves, but the weird speech is more than a little weird. Easy to read and understand. Contains a little sexual content.

Review: Claws, Class, and A Whole Lotta Sass by Julia Mills 3 of 5 stars

Claws, Class, and A Whole Lotta Sass by Julia Mills
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Dani had been orphaned and alone and so she sought refuge with the extended family that she had left - a pack of wolf shifters who provided perfect cover for her too. Then dragon guard Wolfe was sent to help in a treaty between packs and nothing was the same again for either of them. Fate will not be denied but can he get past his own doubts and can she drop her very sassy attitude and give him a chance? They need to work together to banish evil and trust that their inner dragons know best and finally spread their wings and fly.

I enjoyed this story with the danger and drama that they both needed to work together with to beat. I did find her sassy attitude a bit much and feel that it should have been dialled down in order to make her a bit more likeable - as it was I had really started to dislike her. I loved the dangerous side of things as well as some of the drama involved. The family bond between Dani and her pack alpha (brother) was lovely to read. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Twinkle, Twinkle Sassy Little Star: Dragon Guard #23 by Julia Mills 3 of 5 stars

Twinkle, Twinkle Sassy Little Star: Dragon Guard #23 by Julia Mills
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When Grey had seen Star years ago he knew she was his mate, but she wasn't prepared to give him the time of day and he was then called home. But needing to head back to the Florida swamp where she lives he is determined this time to not give in and instead claim her. Star is determined to fight rogues, wizards and her attraction to Grey. When she saw him leave she was very relieved in her head even though her heart and her wolf were not. But now he is back she is determined to not make it easy for him, but she will listen to everything around her history and try to understand what went on then. Can they sort it all out?

I enjoyed this story which featured a love between a dragon and his mate, a love between a dragon and his brother, and evil which is determined to destroy them all. I enjoyed much of this story which was about Star's history, the evil that was attacking them all, Grey's brother and their mating bond. I did find some of it a little tedious and boring, but it was mostly enjoyable. Easy to read and understand. Contains some explicit sexual content near the end of the story.

Garridan is a comander in the army and is training the first clas of female warriors. One of them is vampire/slayer Siora who has ambitions to lead her own battalion in the upcoming conflict against demon Bakari.

I loved the hot chemistry between Garridan and Siora and the way that nothing was going to keep them apart whether that be matchmaking parents or ambitious students. Easy to read and a great introduction to the series. Contains sexual content.

#19 Her Dragon Mate By Elle Boon

#20 Assassin By Julia Mills - 4*

This is the story of how Dragon Guard Palladin Creed met and claimed his mate Alex which was not as straightforward as it should have been and there were some complications. An enjoyable story, easy to read and contains explcit sexual content.

#21 Shifting Fate By Carrie Pulkinen

#22 Hunter Moon By Erzabet Bishop & Gina Kincade

#23 Shifter Mountain By C.D. Gorri - 4*

Keeton Grey is an Eastern Mountain Lion Shifter with a serious people problem. As in, he hates all of them. Choosing to live in seclusion, he finds his peace of mind disrupted when an injured hiker stumbles onto his property. After she catches her fiancé cheating, Marilena Sorelli needs a break from life. After a fall, she meets her rescuer in a nearly seven-foot-tall giant with piercing green eyes and a beard that makes her fingers itch to run through it. Will the beautiful interloper crack this rugged Shifter’s heart of stone, or will self-imposed isolation be his future?

I enjoyed this story with the lone shifter hiding from the world on his mountain and the lone hiker running away from her problems. Definitely a great plot by fate to make sure that Keeton and Lena met and had the chance at love (but only when he accepted that he could not ignore the fact that she was his mate). Easy to read, feel and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Mistletoe and Mates: Shifters in Love Holiday Anthology by V. Vaughn by Julia Mills by C.D. Gorri
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A good value collection of shifter stories of a Christmas nature that will leave us all with the seasonal spirit.

#1 A Furry Little Christmas - C.D. Gorri - 5*

This is a second chance at a love book set in the Maccon City Pack area. I really enjoyed it and was rooting for them both.

#2 Unwrapping Her Dragon - Julia Mills - 3*

This is a Dragon Warrior story. Everleigh knows that the dragon is hers, but after he just left her she is not yet ready to let him get near her. He certainly has his work cut out for him.

#3 Her Cowboy Warrior – Liv Brywood - 3*

I enjoyed this story although I did find the female lead a bit clueless at times

#4 Tis the Season for Sass – Melanie James - 4*

This is set in the Black Paw wolves pack and was a great mix between lots of action and magic.

#5 A Fated Mate for Christmas – Selena Blake - 5*

I loved this story and the way that Garett and Gabriella connected together and the strength she got through her connection to him.

#6 The Honeybear’s Xmas Curse – Jacqueline Sweet - 5*

I loved this story and how she was saved from evil magic at Christmas time.

#7 Her Cowboy's Christmas Surprise – J. K. Harper - 2*

I really disliked this story. As I was reading it I was just shouting in my head at Callie to stop being so stupid and acting like an idiot.

#8 Gracie’s Gift – V. Vaughn - 4*

I loved this story and the connections between them all were great.

Review: Dragon with the Girl Tattoo: Finder of Fated Love Story by Julia Mills 4 of 5 stars

Dragon with the Girl Tattoo: Finder of Fated Love Story by Julia Mills
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dragon Guard and Mad Bomber Lennox has had enough of blind dates - he just wants to find his mate and not have yet another first date with the wrong woman. When he goes to the Sundowner with a well-meaning Demi-God he has a new tattoo, has a head beating and he has a raven-haired beauty in his bed who makes his heart race and his dragon overexcited. But he just cannot mate one of her kind and so he decides that eternity alone is a better option and even Babs MacAutley will change his mind. So time to blow up something and have another beer - the universe does make mistakes and fate will be denied (maybe).

I really enjoyed this story of Lennox and his mate Tessa who was a great combination shifter. I loved the way he was just an ass and then how he had to eat mega humble pie in order to recover the situation. I loved the story and how it all connected together even though it didn't seem that way at first. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Crimson Moon Hideaway: Dragon Dreaming by Julia Mills 4 of 5 stars

Crimson Moon Hideaway: Dragon Dreaming by Julia Mills
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dragon Guardsman and member of the Dragon Intelligence Agency, Special Agent Donovan Cross has been waiting for two hundred years to meet his mate Lottie who is one of the legendary Dalgaard Sleipnir Shifters. He has now discovered that a crazy sorceress murdered his mate's mother and is determined to relieve his mate of all of her blood using the power of the Goddess Rhiannon. Van is not going to give in on Lottie, but he knows it is going to take a lot of grovelling, begging and the help of his Dragon King in order to save his mate and make sure that she lives happily ever after. Can they all get the happily ever after they deserve?

This was a combination of a mystery with some supernatural, witch, dragon and goddess powers mixed into the usual fiery meeting between a dragon guard and his mate. It was set in the Crimson Moon Hideaway and involved the co-owners valkyrie Jianna as well as wizard Merlin. Well written, easy to read and understand it was a great light read that transports you off to the resort as well as other locations. Contains some explicit sexual content.

Review: Heart On For Dragon by Julia Mills 3 of 5 stars

Heart On For Dragon by Julia Mills
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Witch Violet Brown and Dragon Guard Michael (Mick) Archer are fated mates and after a really nice Valentines Day together they were suddenly whisked across the galaxy to a separate hole in the ground by something evil. Can they manage to get themselves together enough to work out what is going on and get free again?

This was another of the holiday love stories that are a fairly quick read in the area inhabited by the Brown witches and Archer brothers. Each pairing is fated mates and they all have complications. There tends to be some magic action as well as some from a dragon guard. The only minus point for me is the strange conversational manner of conversation in the stories which irritates me to a certain extent. Contains explicit sexual content.

Chestnuts Roasting Over Dragon Fire by Julia Mills
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shifter Laurel just wanted to go and rest alone in the mountains to prepare for the next year and all the challenges to come. However, a blizzard is lurking just over the horizon and a sexy dragon wit his smouldering eyes is going to crash back into her life. Fate is messing with these star-crossed lovers and a big bad wolf if threatening to blow it all away. Can Laurel forgive the past, heal her broken heart and trust the ghost who is real?

This is a sweet Christmas novella in the world of Dragon Guardsmen and introduces us to a twist on how they normally are. Full of drama, danger and excitement it certainly gave the kind of Christmas story that we all love at that time of year. Does contain some sexual content at the very end.

A Little Elfin' Around by Julia Mills
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Witch Ella Brown is the Keeper of the Christmas Star and the Curator of the Crystal Forest to light the way for Santa’s yearly sojourn. But she has a broken leg and it just will not heal - she tried magic and even Dr Bombay which means she can't ride her broom. Her familiar is a cranky and very old elf called Edgar insists that she has been cursed. Then her mate and Dragon Guardsman Liam hears and it did not go well. She just needs to face facts that she is never going to heal if she doesn't get his help. Can they save Christmas and cure Ella?

This was a sweet story if you can get used to the way that the Brown witches talk. I liked the premise of the story and it was a nice and short Christmas story. You really need to have read the previous book in the series in order to understand who people are and how Ella might have been injured.

Review: It's the Great Dragon Molly Brown by Julia Mills 3 of 5 stars

It's the Great Dragon Molly Brown by Julia Mills
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

For witch Molly Brown, her pumpkins are ready and are bigger than any year in history - which is great because it is time for this year's "The Brown Family Pumpkin Patch Pick-A-Beauty and Win a Jack-O-Lantern for Life Party-stravaganza". Then she realises that there is someone in her pumpkin patch and so she rushes out with only her trusty cat Cleo on her shoulder only to see the scales of the Great Dragon before he disappeared again. Can she sort out what is going on?

I love the Dragon Guards but I definitely really disliked the style of this book. I found the accented and self conversational style of the writing of this just irritating. However, ignoring that, I loved the premise of the story and the events that happened and how they ended. There were drama and excitement as well as a pairing of perfect partners that just could not be denied. Contains some sexual content.

Review: Crimson Moon Hideaway: Dragon Falling by Julia Mills 4 of 5 stars

Crimson Moon Hideaway: Dragon Falling by Julia Mills
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Witch Ellie MacLeish has mourned the loss of her parents for three years now and failed to find the people responsible for their murders. So her remaining family of her sister and aunt are everything to her. Dragon shifter and agent Ranger Evans was assigned to investigate the murder of the two powerful witches and so was taken aback when in the investigation he met his mate. Three years later and recovering from a near-fatal injury from the people who were responsible for the murders, he is no closer to claiming his mate either. Danger lurks in unlikely places even at the Crimson Moon Resort, so he might think it is safe to be there as he is no closer to working out who is behind the witch murders. Destiny is obviously not talking to help with the case either, but fate really won't be denied for much longer and it seems neither will sexy agent Evans. Can they get to the bottom of the murders and move on to better times?

It was lovely to get another dragon shifter style book with another dragon finding his mate. I loved the underlying story of who was behind the murders and the answer as to who it actually was. I liked the dynamic between Ellie and Ranger although I did find the eventual joining together between them a little sudden and thought it would have taken a bit longer. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Savage Protector by Julia Mills 5 of 5 stars

Savage Protector by Julia Mills
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this story, the Dragon Protection Agency and Federal Paranormal Units are back working together. The story features Abe - a dragon who is bald, tattooed, dark-eyed, and 7'2" tall together with honey badger Shauna who is incredibly sassy and has the habit of talking way before her brain catches up with her mouth. When a severed head is delivered to Shauna and then a few other limbs turn up, it starts to get serious which then is escalated to a whole new level when Shauna is abducted. Can Abe save Shauna so they can have their HEA or will it all end in failure?

This was a very dramatic story which involved many of the characters involved in the DPA and FPU working together in order to solve and then save Shauna and the other shifters who were affected. I was a very dramatic story that needed the sass and bravery from Shauna together with the teamwork and violent abilities of the other paranormal races working together to beat an old enemy. I loved the sassy of Shauna as well as the determination and single-mindedness of Abe which made them the perfect couple. Well written and easy to read and understand, I really enjoyed this story. Contains some sexual content as well as a little bad language.

Review: Rockin' Around the Dragon Tree: MacAllen Clan by Julia Mills 4 of 5 stars

Rockin' Around the Dragon Tree: MacAllen Clan by Julia Mills
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Snow is falling in the desert, the cacti has icicles and bobcats have frostbite. It all started when Tree kissed Jodie and she punched him on the nose, moved miles away, changed her phone number and closed down their mating bond so he had no way of contacting her to apologise. Over a year a passed and he is almost at boiling point with frustration and despair. Soon events will throw them together and they will have to learn to work together, establish trust and love between each other rapidly in order to save each other (and the world). Can they resolve their issues, find a way forward and save everyone?

This was a very dramatic story that started off a bit slow and boring before going into lots of drama and quick action as things got more and more dangerous. I loved the way they eventually came together and realised that there was great love between them both and well as an ability to trust each other and their own capabilities. In some ways, it felt strange to start off with such animosity and then end with such love and devotion. Well written and easy to read and feel the thoughts and the emotions of the characters. Does contain some sexual content.
