My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Jordan Erichsohn knows his boss, Judge Crawford, is corrupt, but speaking up could cost him everything — especially his chance to adopt his son Jeremiah. When he finally confides in deputy Pierre Ravelle, Pierre believes him and becomes both an ally and a growing love interest. Pierre is determined to protect Jordan and Jeremiah and bring Crawford down, but the judge is powerful and dangerous — willing to destroy anything Jordan and Pierre are trying to build to save himself.
This was a great story filled with danger and drama as Jordan and little Jeremiah were swept up in the scandal surrounding corrupt Judge Crawford. I loved how Pierre did everything he could to protect them while investigating the judge, never once doubting that Jordan and Jeremiah were already a family worth fighting for. One of my favourite parts was Pierre’s understanding that loving Jordan meant loving Jeremiah too — getting to know him, caring for him, and making space for him in his life. The emotional weight of Jordan’s adoption struggles blended beautifully with the slow, steady growth of Pierre and Jordan’s relationship. Jeremiah was an absolute sweetheart, and it was impossible not to smile and fall for him. A story full of emotions and feelings throughout, with danger, tenderness, and hope woven together. This was an MM story with mature content.
