Review: The Soldier's Mate by C.W. Gray 4 of 5 stars

The Soldier's Mate

The Soldier's Mate by C.W. Gray
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Morgan, an easygoing soldier suddenly pushed into responsibility aboard the Blue Sparrow, joins the mission to find Wyatt Morrick. Wyatt, a doctor trapped on a planet under attack, is struggling to keep his patients alive with almost no supplies. When Morgan rescues him, the two form an unexpected bond. Their connection grows even as the Concord threat rises, forcing Morgan to step up and Wyatt to face the complicated truth about his father’s death.

The instant connection between Morgan and Wyatt only deepens once their mate bond becomes clear, giving their relationship a powerful emotional pull right from the start. The story is packed with danger and drama to free Wyatt and the remaining locals. There was also a lot of emotions as Wyatt confronted the truth about his father’s feelings — a revelation that adds real emotional weight. Amid the action and the threat of the Concord, the bond between them grows stronger, making every moment of vulnerability and discovery feel meaningful. This was an MM story with mature content and set in the omegaverse with MPREG.

Review: Hooper by Aja Foxx 4 of 5 stars

Hooper

Hooper by Aja Foxx
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Liam flees an arranged marriage and months on the run after a single night with Hooper leaves him pregnant. Believing the Black Butte Ranch is the only safe place for his baby, he leaves newborn Emilio on Hooper’s porch before disappearing again. Hooper is stunned to discover he’s a father, and even more shaken when Liam finally returns — exhausted, scared, and still hunted by Eleanor. Reunited, they cling to each other as they prepare to protect their fragile new family from the danger closing in.

This story delivered plenty of drama and danger, especially as Eleanor’s threats escalated and her insistence that Liam — and the baby — belonged to her became more unhinged. That tension made the early relationship between Hooper and Liam feel beautifully tentative, with Liam slowly realising he didn’t have to run anymore. I loved watching Liam find his own place on the ranch, something that helped him feel grounded and genuinely safe for the first time. It added a lovely layer of growth to his character. The only thing I missed was more affection between them — though there were some sweet glimpses once the danger finally passed. Overall, it’s a story full of big emotions, high stakes, and a hard‑won sense of family. This was an MM story with mature content and set in the omegaverse with MPREG.
