Review: Jax by Dale Mayer 5 of 5 stars

Jax Jax by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ex-SEAL Jax Darrium had helped Griffin in the second book in this series and now he gets his own mission with Griffin on communications and another ex-SEAL called Beau. This time he needs to travel to Florida and rescue Dr Abigail Dalton from a cruise ship which has been taken over by pirates with the intention to capture her as she is a specialist in cell stem treatment of cancer and take her to Dubai to treat the son of a wealthy Saudi Arabian who is believed to have stomach cancer (according to his American doctor). Using scuba gear they swim to the ship and board so they can start taking out any of the pirates they fin as well as search for Abby. When they find her it turns out that the American doctor is a stalker of Abby and there is doubt n her mind over the diagnosis and believes it is his way to capturing her. When Abby discovers the need to cure a child she insists of treating him and so a neutral location of London is chosen with the hopes that Jax, Beau and MI6 can all work together to keep her safe. Can she cure the child and be kept safe or will she fall into the hands of her stalker?

This was a great story pitting the wits of the medical profession, a sassy and determined woman and a determined black-ops team against a skilled psychopathic conman. I loved the butting of heads that was constantly in place between Abby and Jax as well as his determination to compromise whilst keeping her safe. A very convoluted story with lots of drama as it unfolded. A great and addictive read that I couldn't put down. Contains some sexual content at the end of the story.

Review: Griffin by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

Griffin Griffin by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ex-SEAL Griffin Thomas had assisted Kerrick in the previous book in this series and is now going on his own black-ops mission with Kerrick only doing communications he wonders who will support him especially when he discovers he needs to rescue 11-year old Amelia Rose who is the daughter of newspaper mogul Gerard Whitaker together with her nurse Mary and tutor Lorelei James who have all been kidnapped during a family holiday in Thailand. He is allocated another former SEAL Jax and so they leave to try and get there to rescue them as soon as they can - not realising that when they get there they will find one of the three is dead, one is a mature mixture of a child and woman, and one just captivates him. Can they get there in time, and can they unpick who in the family is behind the entire plot?

This was a great story with both strong men and strong women who managed to work together to get everyone safe as well as work out the responsibilities for all the various actions. It was nice to read a story with a mixture of ages of the various players in the complicated plot behind the kidnap. I loved the developing relationship between Griffin and Lorelei and how it seemed to build slowly from victim and hero into something more respectful and equal. Well written, enjoyable and easy to read it was addictive all the way through. Contains some sexual content at the end.

Review: Sixx by Cara Bristol 4 of 5 stars

Sixx Sixx by Cara Bristol
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Software developer Moxie Maguire dreams of writing and releasing her own video game. So she is saving money as fast as she can to set up her own company while working for an ex and obnoxious boss Miles putting in 14 hour days most of the time. She also dreams of having a partner that is Mr Right and has her six - so she signs up to the Intergalactic Dating Agency. Her first date is with an alien from Dakon called Sixx - an horned alien who is mega sexy, supportive and family orientated - the perfect partner for her - with just one issue - he has to stay on his home planet due to having a son that he cannot permanently leave. There is just one computer on Dakon so their growing relationship suddenly seems futile when it becomes obvious that she cannot give up her dreams and he cannot give up his child. Is there anything that can be done for these Fated Mates to be together?

This was a sweet story that highlighted what is probably a very modern dilemma in modern lives - how can a career be maintained as well as a normal relationship and can both parties a workable compromise that fits all members? Thankfully this story had a great compromise. I loved the way Sixx was so supportive of her and did his best to protect her, and how Miles turned out to be far less of an ass than he appeared through most of the book. An easy to read story that was as enjoyable as it was easy to understand.

Review: Kerrick by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

Kerrick Kerrick by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When SEALs get sick of following rules because they hold them back from doing the right thing they either accept it or walk away. However, for a select few there is an alternative - they can join The Mavericks - a covert black ops team that gets the job done (even if they have to break the occasional rule on the way). Widower Kerrick Cassidy is one of those men who are chosen - and his mission is to find and save cancer research scientist Dr Amanda Berg, who has disappeared off the street outside her Paris lab. Can he find her and bring her safely home?

This was a sweet and yet dramatic story of a strong man who does whatever he can to save this strong woman who is not going to be kept a prisoner and stop in her aim to cure breast cancer in the memory of her best friend. There was a lot of twists and turns as they both worked together as a team in order to find out who was behind her kidnap and imprisonment as well as their motivation. Well written and very enjoyable.

Review: Black Of Hearts: A Quentin Black Paranormal Mystery Romance by JC Andrijeski 5 of 5 stars

Black Of Hearts: A Quentin Black Paranormal Mystery Romance Black Of Hearts: A Quentin Black Paranormal Mystery Romance by JC Andrijeski
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Miri and Black are back to their own version of Earth and have to face the growing race war with very dark implications. He knows that Miri will be targeted by both sides of the conflict when they realise what her new powers are really capable of but in the meantime, it appears that Nick is still missing, they are assuming that Dalejem is dead, the vampire race is preparing for an all-out war, riots are raging in the human population and Miri's seer uncle is still aiming to take over the planet and is locking down the country. Then Black feels it - he is caught and Miri is caught too. When he realises that the separation pain and panic will be enough for him to lose his cool - something they are going to regret. The question is can they find each other and can Miri calm him back down?

OMG - so many interesting events happened in this story that involved all of the races, Black, Miri, Nick and Dalejem in particular. The problem with such a book like this is you can't put it down, you need time to catch up in your mind to all the events as they happened, and you just have a NEED to know what is going to happen next - especially as it felt that it ended on a cliffhanger. Well written and clear/easy to understand, this book was a joy to read and the book pushed the Quentin Black story in an interesting direction that I'm looking forward to reading in the future.

Review: Ice's Icing by Dale Mayer 5 of 5 stars

Ice's Icing Ice's Icing by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ice has only ever wanted Levi and maybe someone who is a blend of them both, and although he asked her to marry him a while ago but she is struggling to pin down a date for the wedding worried he was caught up in the moment at the mass wedding for Badger's crew and didn't really mean it. So when their compound is under attack and they have to go on the offence she has a chance to realise what is really important in life. Levi has only ever wanted Ice and is getting infuriated that she won't set the date so they can start their life together. So when they are under attack by a military group trying to overthrow a government that had helped in the past and body counts increase, the intensity between them changes - is this time to eat your cake and have the icing too?

I loved this story which was full of kindness and taking initiative by people that both Levi and Ice did not expect to have to deal with. It was great to experience them both finally taking the next step and it was definitely a tear-jerker so only read this with a box of tissues nearby. Well written and very enjoyable. A must for anyone who has read other books n the series although I think you could read it without reading any others.

From the Ashes From the Ashes by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Phoenix Rising was born and raised in a cult lead by her fanatical father who believed she was destined for greater things. However, she endured a childhood full of physical pain and both physical and mental torment and not only his hands but all the other cult members. It appears that he was convinced he was preparing her for the future he was convinced she would fulfil and at the same time was punishing her for being stronger and better than he was. Can she fight against the destiny he has prepared her for and protect all her she is close to as she experiences physic life at an extreme level during a visit to Iceland?

I loved this story which was a great mixture of psychic action, a mystery and a thriller. I loved the relationship between Phoenix and the other characters in the story that seemed to be all helping her in one way or another. A very addictive story that I could not put down until I had finished it.

Death and Christmas Death and Christmas by Cassandra Lawson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Angel of Death went to get a tattoo on Christmas Eve before heading to the hospital in his Santa suit to see a load of sick kids (who have no idea who he really is) and it was all quite normal until the Fates played their trick on him and cause him to meet his soulmate (he had never taken it seriously that they existed and certainly not one for him). The complication is that Cataria is no longer in the realm of the living, however, she is so feisty and able to stand up to him that it almost doesn't matter.
Can he handle all of the problems that are around this situation and will they get a HEA?

OMG - this was so good and so very addictive (I think I read it in one sitting and ignore everything and everyone until I had finished it. Cat was one hell of a woman and I can only hope that they meet again at some point in time and can have a chance at the HEA that they richly deserve (and that Michael gets his just deserts and much more - if I could I would have throttled him myself!). Well written and very enjoyable it was easy to read and understand.

Review: Amidst Alien Stars {Milijun Book 2} by Clayton Graham 4 of 5 stars

Amidst Alien Stars {Milijun Book 2} Amidst Alien Stars {Milijun Book 2} by Clayton Graham
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Laura Sinclair and her son Jason, plus a group of desperate humans abducted from Earth in the previous book awake among the alien stars somewhere else where they are trying to forge a new future both for themselves but also for those back home on Earth. However, they are not with the one alien race and so have to solve the riddle of the group of races they are encountering and try not to become embroiled in their historic conflict that seems to be as valid now as it was many years before. The problem is who should they trust (if anyone) and what is the real plan for the hybrid children that have been brought into existence? Add to that there is a constant worry in the back of their minds - will they ever see Earth again and get home?

This is once again a complex story with many layers for you to dig through as you read this second book in the series - although you could get away with not reading the first one I really do think you need to read the first one to make sense of the events in this book as early as you can. I enjoyed the way they were sometimes working independently but were always working towards a common goal that would make sense of what was happening to them all. I enjoyed the mini-stories within stories that were very enjoyable. Well written it was very clear and easy to understand.

Festive Love Festive Love by Maggie Mundy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jaxon Connor almost lost his far and his father is currently sick in hospital so he really does not need a nosey journalist poking around the family. Even worse at a recent fair, he had a wild night of passion with the journalist Kathryn and she completely got under his skin and he seems unable to forget her. Kathryn desperately needs a successful article or she is going to lose her job so really does need to know much more about Jax and his family - the problem is can she keep her growing feelings for him and the entire family from doing her own job and what will it do to their burgeoning relationship?

This is a really sweet festive story featuring the Connor cousins down in Australia which is a great way of getting to know them too. It certainly had a sweet story in the middle of it which was a great love story on its own without the modern-day love story that was woven around it too. Well written and very enjoyable, it had moments of drama as well we tenderness as events unfolded. An enjoyable festive read. Contains some explicit sexual content.

After messing up relationships at an early age Brett Connor is all for partying hard and making sure he never falls in love with any of his many conquests. Mila DeMarco is a hard-working chef who has to come back to her childhood home as her mother is sick. She also has a past with Brett. Can Brett start to believe in love again as he falls for Mila or will he mess it up in order to stay in his wild ways?

This was a lovely story which will definitely pull at your heartstrings and make you believe that Brett really is a human and not a man-whore when he finds something out about the past that will rock his world completely. I can't say more else I will ruin the story, just know that it is easy to become addicted to this story as you go on the same journey as Brett to fill in gaps in his knowledge and find out what is truly important in life to him. Definitely emotional in places and will leave you with a warm glow at the end. Contains some explicit sexual content. All he has to do is make one child love him and he’ll live again. His dreams are shattered when he’s gifted to a child as payment for a vile act. Can he make her love him and save her from the horror of her life without sacrificing his freedom?

This is a clever little story where we experience his frustration at his current fate and the events he discovers and witnesses going forward. It really doesn't agree with the Gods view on life now, but I think I would have done exactly the same as Iatee. A well-written and clever story.

Parker Parker by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In this series, it starts with a mission to locate a missing war dog and expands as we experience the difficulties of actually locating and rescuing it. In this one, do Samson went missing in Iraq he was waiting to be shipped home for his retirement. Parker and Sandy are travelling to Iraq in order to escort home the body of their respective brothers who have recently been killed in action, so it makes sense for Parker to be the one asked to locate the latest missing dog. However, as they start to investigate the missing dog, the answers are very cagey and then the drama starts with dead bodies turning up. This quickly morphs into a mystery thriller as the plot gets thicker in the search for the missing dog. Parker and Sandy have to work together in order to stay safe as well as locate Samson, and in doing that they come to realise that they have a much deeper connection that needs to be explored fully when they find the dog and return to US soil. Well written and full of drama, twists and turns it was like being in a complicated murder mystery as they worked together.

The Business of Bees The Business of Bees by Chrys Cymri
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

C of E vicar Penny White has known about the magical country of Lloegyr for 18 months now and yet in many ways, it feels like years. he has become used to living alongside dragons, gryphons, werewolves, and a snail shark (to mention just a few) which has turned out to be a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it has been an absolute joy with many memorable moments to cherish, but on the other, it has been a major challenge, plus since the closing of the thin spaces between the worlds she is stuck there with no way to communicate back home. She had hoped that her friends would understand that the occasional glass of red wine or tot of whiskey were all part of her coping with the multitude of events in her life including her work with the not-weres at Saint Raphael’s which while rewarding play havoc with her stomach. Then she has a decision to make - stick with longtime friend dragon Raven or accept the marriage proposal from werewolf Llewellyn back at Saint Raphael’s. Decisions have to be made when she receives a delegation of gryphons who have flown across the Atlantic from the Daear equivalent of the United States of America to ask for her help in convincing honey bees to return back to Earth. Can she handle all of this and not touch a drop of drink let alone will she succeed with this new mission?

I really enjoyed this story which contained plenty of soul searching and analysis of others as well as herself on top of some action as part of the story. Throughout it all, Penny while struggling with her own dilemmas, managed to do her best to find a peaceful solution to the problems that she was drawn into through no fault of her own. Whilst it might on the face of it strike you as a story with a strong a religious angle, it is still a very enjoyable read as the common themes of love, respect and seeking joy in everything that affects you. I loved the way her relationships with the core characters in the series developed further and I was totally thrilled with the events at the end of the story - I just hope that the Bishop doesn't ruin things. Well written and very enjoyable, it is much easier to read this if you have read the earlier books in the series (which I recommend as great reads).

Prince Ferdinand knew he wasn't important in the line of succession and was fine with that. When he met diplomat's daughter Alexandra Daae who was destined to marry his cousin, it was him she fell for and they were all ready to break all the rules for love when tragedy struck and the future they had dreamed of was shattered. He is still not over it even 15 years later when his younger brother has a baby with his partner and he just has to leave Dubreva for a while to deal with the heartache. Miraculously he spots Alexandra there and everything starts to change for the better. Can fate finally b on their side?

This was a sweet story and on the face of it was very enjoyable, but the merging of the past and the present in the same chapter of the book became a little irritating in the end. So I enjoyed the story but then I also didn't enjoy some aspects of it which were a shame as they came to the conclusion that I knew was right (even if I hadn't really understood why certain things happened in the past). A nice story which was enjoyable if you bear in mind the shifts in the timeline.

All Will had to do was find shapeshifter witch Aspen Caligar for the King of Hell Lucifer and bring her back and as she caused many problems for his pack too he was keen to accept the assignment. However, having found her everything changes completely when he realises she is actually his mate and so cannot hand her over. Somehow he needs to persuade Lucifer that Aspen is not a threat, he needs to help her hunt down the elitist witch group that are targetting members of the community whilst persuading the stubborn witch that they belong together. Can he pull it off?

I loved this story which brought together the characters from the Hellbound series of books and it gave Will someone to be happy with. I loved the story with its different strands of the story (appeasing Lucifer, finding the cult and getting Aspen to recognise they were mates) and how they were woven together in increasingly complex patterns. Well written and very hard to put down I loved this story.

Review: Broken But... Mending: Books 1-3 by Dale Mayer 5 of 5 stars

Broken But... Mending: Books 1-3 Broken But... Mending: Books 1-3 by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An amazing set of three books that look deeply at some issues affecting characters and how they could use love to combat those fears and in the process also find love with their partner in the workshop. Well written, easy to read and the thoughts and emotions were easy to feel. You will find yourself reading this faster and faster as you become more and more hooked on the stories and need to know what happens next.

#1 - SKIN 5*

Two people are made to work together in a therapy class - Kane is dealing with great anger after betrayal and Tania is a rape victim whois trying to deal with her fear of intimacy. Together they need to work together and try to find a solution to their problems. Tania is using a medium she can express herself in - her camera and her subject is the human body - shown via Kane's physical body. Looking through the lens of a camera, she learns to find beauty and compassion...and the strength to find wholeness...with him.

This was an incredibly moving book which put you right into their thoughts, hearts and dreams as they worked together to find answers to their problems. I found myself being pulled into their world and feeling the thoughts and emotions that they were experiencing. It was quite emotional as the story came to a finish and I was thrilled at the way it ended. If anyone deserved the kind of happiness they had in the future, it was Kane and Tania. A great story that will pull at your heartstrings.

#2 - SCARS 5*

Both Robin and Sean live but do not thrive in the world. They need to find a way to move forward even if they have to face some painful truths (or realities) to get there. They have different problems, but those problems mean that they can complement each other and help each other to go through the process.

This was a powerful story following the processes of their self-discovery and acceptance of who (and what) they are. They were able to help each other through the process and it soon became clear that love is the key to the problem - firstly love of yourself, and in the process of finding that it became clear that that had translated to love of each other too. Definitely a story to pull your heartstrings and let you feel their thought and emotions as they worked through the problems. Loved this story.

#3 - SCALES 5*

Paris believes that Justice is coming to her - she just has no idea when and so is permanently frighted and wary of everything and everyone. Weaver is waiting for Justice to be done in the case of the death of a close family member, and the process of doing that affects his ability to form close relationships or trust people. Together they are both sides of the Justice coin - can they work together to resolve their problems?

I loved this story - Paris was like a skittish animal that was terrified of anything and anyone even though she had a backbone that enabled her to function in the world by hiding everything. Weaver was a calming influence on her while she was able to challenge him on many of his behaviours and beliefs. Their friendship developed out of their need to help each other and that then turned into love. A very deep story that really makes you think. Very enjoyable and very easy to feel their thoughts and emotions.

Review: Scars by Dale Mayer 5 of 5 stars

Scars Scars by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Review: Her Dragon's Soul by Julia Mills 4 of 5 stars

Her Dragon's Soul Her Dragon's Soul by Julia Mills
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dragon Guardsman Liam Drennan just knew that Hannah Marie was his mate - from the highlights in her hair to the scent of Angel’s trumpets with their light lemony overtones that invaded hi senses. The only problem was he could sense something dark and evil was hidden within her. Could he convince everyone else and find a way to remove it from her so they would have their happy ever after?

This was a lovely story with lots of drama and excitement as events unfolded. Throughout it all, Liam kept faith in Hannah and made sure that she would be ok. A nice romantic story mixed into a dramatic story containing lots of evil at the same time. Very enjoyable even though short enough to be like a novella.

Fighting for Her Dragon Fighting for Her Dragon by Julia Mills
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Emma Sinclair currently works as the jeweller at the lair, but her heritage is unknown and she long ago accepted that it would stay that way. Then she realised that she could feel the pain being experienced by "the Traitor" and he was calling to her in the language of his kin. Andrew's brothers have captured him and he is bound in silver in a cave. He knows this is exactly what he deserves after the way he has behaved in the past and only hallucinations of his long-dead parents are able to give him solace. However, he detects the scent of salt, sun and fresh air and all he can see and think of are brown eyes and a smile that acts as a balm to his tattered soul. Only the memory of this woman is both his solace and lifeline. Can they both come out of this situation or are them both lost for all time?

I loved this story which was both dramatic and emotional all at the same time. It was great to watch Andrew care much more for someone else which moved him out of his selfish and feeling sorry for himself mode. I could feel and sense all of the thoughts and emotions of the characters involved and was thrilled with the surprises at the end of this story.

Review: Dragon Guard Series Volume 2: #4-6 by Julia Mills 4 of 5 stars

Dragon Guard Series Volume 2: #4-6 Dragon Guard Series Volume 2: #4-6 by Julia Mills
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Great value collection of Dragon Guard books.

#4 For the Love of Her Dragon - 4*
Powerful White Witch Kyra St. Croix is the child of High Priestess and a human male and has lived on her own for the last 25 years as she tries to leave her destiny to fate and not her mother's meddling. However, her belief in that is stretched yo breaking point when it becomes apparent that her intended mate is actually someone who can't stand her for what she is. Dragon Guardsman Royce O'Reilly is the oldest and most respected member of the MacLendon Force. Since joining the Golden Fire Clan he has matched his brethren become fierce warriors as he works to guide the younger guardsmen as a steadying force for good. As he watches some of his brethren meet their mates he hopes to meet his own until he realises that fate has a sick sense of humour given that his mate is a five-foot two-inch bundle of powerful Earth witch called Kyra St. Croix. Can Royce move past the betrayal he feels after a witch murdered his mother and unborn sister many years ago and can Kyra move past the prejudice and rejection she can feel from Royce? Fate doesn't make mistakes and cannot be denied.

This was a sweet story which was just a little tedious during the middle as Royce struggled to get his head around his fate and how he really needed to pull himself together and get on with life. It was nice to read details about some of the other characters that had already been introduced to the series in previous books in the series (but it is not necessary to read them first to enjoy this book). Well written, easy to understand, and a good story. I now just wonder what Andrew has up his sleeve for the next book in the series.

#5 Saved By Her Dragon - 4*
Devon has a great heritage for a Guardsman - his Dad was the fiercest in history and his Mother is a healer. Anya Sloane is an orphan that has been raised by earth witches when she is abducted and then left for dead outside a hospital. After a month of trying to come out of the coma she is in, she discovers that everything she thought she knew was illusions. Can she work with Devon to find the traitor who imprisoned her and save the dragons?

Lots of drama and danger in this story of evil and betrayal all mixed into a love story between Devon and Anya. There were plenty of twists and turns in this story in the world of the dragon guards. A nice ending and yet the promise of much more to come in the next story. Well written and everything was clear and easy to feel and understand.

#6 Only for Her Dragon- 4*
Dragon Guardsman Aaron O'Brien has long regarded a single life as the only way to be. As part of that, he is very happy for his brethren who have all found mates but feels that is not the way for his life to be. However, Fate didn't get the memo and has other plans for him and his life. Dr Charlene Gallagher is intelligent, determined and very level-headed. So when something inexplicable jumps up and causes her to doubt her own judgement can Charlie find the answers to explain this all rationally? It seems that only Charlie can take the necessary leap of faith for her dragon - and if she can do that she will find the kind of love that she could only have dreamed of. Can she take that leap?

This was a charming story of how an intelligent woman was able to take the evidence of her feelings and eyes in order to have the kind of love and relationship that she could only dream of. Well told, everything was easy to read, feel and understand. A nice love story.

Great value introduction to the Dragon Guard series.

#1 Her Dragon To Slay - 4*
Kyndel is sassy and has got through life up to now but on a long trip home from work her destiny falls at her feet. Rayne is a fearless dragon guard commander but when he meets his mate he risks losing his cool while trying to save her from his enemies. Can someone who has come back from the dead and is now holding a knife to her neck destroy the person that the Universe made for him?

Wow - a sassy woman and a strong man - what's not to like? Kyndel was curvy and sassy, and Rayne hot and impossible to resist. The story was dramatic and it had a lot of twists and turns in the story. It was well told and I could feel all the thoughts and emotions was they journeyed through this roller-coaster to find a way to enjoy their destined life together. Very enjoyable - can't wait to read the next one now.

#2 Her Dragon's Fire - 4*
Aiden is a fierce Dragon Guardsman who has dreamed of his mate for the last 6 years and the only thing keeping him away from her is to protect her from his evil brother who would use her to hurt him. Grace is a successful lawyer who works as a defender working towards justice for those who would be forgotten. However, when she stumbles into trouble as part of a case only the man wither the amazing hazel eyes who sends her heart facing will be able to keep her safe. Aiden will do everything in his power, including his very life, to keep his mate safe. They are meant to be together even if Andrew has been one step ahead of them all of the time. No matter what he doe to them, fate will not be denied!

This was a sweet love story of him Aiden and Grace finally got together and how they beat all the odds in order to have the future together that was their fate. I loved the way the other guards did everything in order in order to support Aiden and Grace in order to stay alive and have the future together that was intended for them. Well written and beautifully told.

#3 Haunted By Her Dragon - 4*
Since her family was taken in a tragic accident years ago life has never been easy for 29-year-old Dr Samantha Malone. She then has to put her life back together again after being kidnapped. If it wasn't for the gorgeous guy who rescued her then and now seems to be protecting her from the shadows ever since too. The question is why and what does he want? Dragon Guardsman Lance knew from the moment he met her that Samantha was the one the universe had made for him, but he knew it was not the right time to claim her. Instead, he has protected her from afar waiting for that right time. He may have lived for 112 years but fate will not be denied - he has to find a way to claim his mate!!!

This was a sweet story of how the mates found each other, then grew to know each other and finally become a single unit. Well written it was an enjoyable read and certainly a good continuation from the previous book in the series as it continued a strand of the story that started in that one. Well written, easy to understand and very enjoyable.

This is a Christmas story based around the Reckless Release band members and their partners. Xan seems to be determined to share the love with some members in society who are in need and that leads to a very unexpected conclusion and ending with some long term consequences.

A great story that helped to get into the seasonal spirit. It was such a treat to read another story about the characters that we all know and love from the series. Very enjoyable, my only problem was that it made me miss reading about them even more than I was before. Great story, well written and very easy to read and feel. Definitely helped me remember that Christmas is the time of year to think of those who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Endless Knight Endless Knight by Nazri Noor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Darkling mage Dustin Graves is incredibly outnumbered as Agatha Black has created a coven of one where her soul was split between 13 bodies. The combination will mean total hell and destruction of the Universe. But Hecate, triune goddess of magic, has come up with a way to save everyone - a ritual called the Apotheosis which need five magical blades that will finally grant the darkling mage the arcane might he needs to annihilate the Eldest and Agatha Black - the problem is the price is everything he loves.

Wow - this was a really emotional story where once again we have to "trust in Dust" but he also has to take a giant leap in faith and be prepared to lose everyone he holds dear. It was so nice to finally see Harold and Dustin having a proper relationship even if there were a big decision and sacrifice that had to be made. Loved the ending even though he still has a lot of work to do after everything is completed. Well written and a great story. Easy to read, feel and understand.

Foul Conjuring Foul Conjuring by Eva Chase
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Seems the return of Rory's mother has not caught her a break from her enemies and they have continued the onslaught. Adjusting to having a parent is also a new thing for her and will take some adjustment to work out how things are going to work between them. Now the fellow scions (and her lovers) are becoming targets of the barons too which is going to bring things into a whole new level of complication between them all. It then becomes apparent that the Baron's latest plan for the whole community will threaten them all, their way of life, and everyone she cares about. Can Rory handle all of these complications and still keep her sanity (let alone protect those she cares about)??

Wow - this was full-on with all the plotting, setbacks and complications. I wondered how Rory managed to keep on top of everything and moving in the right direction but somehow she did. Well written and very enjoyable. It was clearly written and easy to understand. You need to have read the other books in the series in order to understand the underlying story.

Taylor Taylor by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Taylor finally gets home to Coronado when he notices his neighbour's door is open - however, he then notices a smell he recognises and he becomes plunged into multiple homicides with no meaning. Midge doesn't understand what is happening in her life. All of a sudden he home, workplace and neighbours are all in danger and yet at the same time everyone seems t be a suspect too. Taylor is the only normalcy in her life, yet he can't keep an eye on her safety all of the time.

As always with this series of books, it was suitably dramatic as another one of the honourable members of the team of SEALs had to do what they do best in order to keep someone safe. In the process it became apparent that they were both interested in each other - they just never had the right circumstances in their own lives to make the connection. Strangely it seems there is no better time than now. A well-told and very enjoyable light read.

Torque's home is feeling settled with no problems, but as he starts to relax the world around him goes mad and from a source that he is yet to understand. Can he keep his cool and handle this situation like he always does or is that a step too far? With one person close to home that is in hiding and another person from far whois waiting to strike, can he handle the punches coming from all directions and keep the Chicago Defiance family together. This is a story full of deception, bloodshed, heartache, and lies.

OMG - so many punches and surprises coming at them from all directions. I am so impressed with the strength of mind of Torque and the way he managed to pull through to handle everything that was thrown at him, plus find ways to be on top (even when the situation appeared hopeless). If I didn't already love him before, I certainly can love him now after all those things happening to him. Well written, easy to feel and understand

Skin Skin by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Gun in the Gardenias Gun in the Gardenias by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gardener and sometime sleuth Doreen Montgomery (plus her cat, dog, and parrot) need to tie-up some loose ends from her previous case (especially Steve Albright - who seems to be a fixer for a local biker gang). Her one consolation is that he no longer has a gun as he dropped him into her neighbour's Gardenias although when she finds a connection to three arson cases from years ago she is warned off by Corporal Mack Moreau who is concerned for her safety. However, she is not in the habit of listening to Mack about that after all, it has always worked out fine before.

I loved this story which has the usual levels of drama, danger, intrigue and excitement. This answered a number of questions I had outstanding at the end of the previous book and so it was nice to be able to close that one off totally (as well as close a few more cold cases too). Well written and easy to understand you do not need to have read the previous books in the series and understood this book. I can't wait to find out when Doreen gets up to next.

Stargazer Alien Mail Order Brides, Collection #1 Stargazer Alien Mail Order Brides, Collection #1 by Tasha Black
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A fun collection of alien stories that perfectly set the scene for the rest of the series. A great value way to read the first three books in the series as well as understand how it all started.

#1 - Bond - 4*

Posey Quinn believes that there is more to the world than what she can see so when she goes to Stargazer to donate eggs, she is not completely surprised to learn she has been asked to make an alien fall in love with her and become an ambassador for humankind. What she never expected was how much of a hunk Bond is and how irresistible he is. Bond is on Earth to give a human female as much pleasure as she can handle while learning as much about the planet and its inhabitants as he can. He knows that if the patient has enough resources and the residents are not worthy, that he time with Posey is limited.

This was an enjoyable story that has the slow build-up to a relationship between Bond and Posey which was quite nice to experience with them (even if there was the dark background mission so that they could test the human inhabitants to see basically if they were worthy of living any longer. A sweet story that will be interesting to find out what happens next.

#2 - Rocky - 4*

Georgia Taylor dreams of becoming a police officer, but her world is in a complete tailspin when her friends and her answer an advertisement looking for egg donors and they are in fact intended brides for hunky aliens. She is determined to get back on track with her life plan, but it is not easy as Rocky is just SO gorgeous. Rocky's mission on Earth is to give his intended woman as much pleasure as she can take, and although she is clearly attracted to him, she won't give him the time of day. He has to break through and via her find the inhabitants on the planet worthy else his days of chasing Georgia will soon be at an end.

This was a story that shows that true love will not be denied as much as you are determined to ignore it. We also found out a lot more about the aims of the aliens on Earth and what could happen if things didn't go to plan. I have to say Georgia's determination was interesting at first but became a little tedious as the story went on. Easy to understand and a pleasant light read.

#3 - Magnum - 4*

Rima Bhimani is a bookworm who dreams of things in the clouds until she meets sexy alien Magnum who sets her alight if only he would stop resisting their attraction. The problem is Magnum has a dark secret. However, his need for Rima is getting harder to restrain so that he can focus on the problem at hand. How far will he go to protect the woman he loves?

This was a much more involved story in the series so far and exposed some of the issues with the alien's secret mission and the mechanism for reporting back. I loved that eventually, the truth came out and that it was teamwork plus the quick thinking of Magnum's mate Rima that saved the day and ensured that there would be a chance for them to be together. This one was full of drama and excitement plus an enhanced sense of danger. A good read that was very enjoyable.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Hunky alien Drago has travelled from Aerie and is the lab subject that Arden Green is looking after as part of her job as a lab tech. In turn, she is the subject of all his fantasies, especially as her job is to deliver porn to him every day in an attempt to make him click into his human form. However, from the moment he saw Arden he knew that she is his mate and the one person who is going to make him click - not all this porn. When Drago and two of his brothers are forced to flee from the lab, Arden is the person to help them. Can she keep her relationship with him purely professional or has science blinded her into true love?

The was a sweet story that was a nice quick and light read. Enjoyable and reasonably well written if you are looking for a light romance involving an alien, this is a good book for you.
