Review: Bond by Tasha Black 4 of 5 stars

Bond Bond by Tasha Black
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Posey Quinn believes that there is more to the world than what she can see so when she goes to Stargazer to donate eggs, she is not completely surprised to learn she has been asked to make an alien fall in love with her and become an ambassador for humankind. What she never expected was how much of a hunk Bond is and how irresistible he is. Bond is on Earth to give a human female as much pleasure as she can handle while learning as much about the planet and its inhabitants as he can. He knows that if the patient has enough resources and the residents are not worthy, that he time with Posey is limited.

This was an enjoyable story that has the slow build-up to a relationship between Bond and Posey which was quite nice to experience with them (even if there was the dark background mission so that they could test the human inhabitants to see basically if they were worthy of living any longer. A sweet story that will be interesting to find out what happens next.

Review: Drago by Tasha Black 3 of 5 stars

Drago Drago by Tasha Black
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Hunky alien Drago has travelled from Aerie and is the lab subject that Arden Green is looking after as part of her job as a lab tech. In turn, she is the subject of all his fantasies, especially as her job is to deliver porn to him every day in an attempt to make him click into his human form. However, from the moment he saw Arden he knew that she is his mate and the one person who is going to make him click - not all this porn. When Drago and two of his brothers are forced to flee from the lab, Arden is the person to help them. Can she keep her relationship with him purely professional or has science blinded her into true love?

The was a sweet story that was a nice quick and light read. Enjoyable and reasonably well written if you are looking for a light romance involving an alien, this is a good book for you.

Review: The Quick and the Dead by D. B. Sieders 5 of 5 stars

The Quick and the Dead The Quick and the Dead by D. B. Sieders
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Soul Broker Vivian Bedford is on the run as she is in the sights of the Archangel Guardian Spirit council and has become public enemy number one. She joins a band of living soul brokers who are a major part of the rebellion but is not sure if she can trust them or not. She decided to join them and help to find out the traitor in their midst. Will she prevail in the war for freedom...and her soul?

This was full of so my drama and danger, yet also had some stolen moment so tenderness. I really enjoyed the relationship between Vivian and Darkmore which I felt could have turned into something long term and so in many ways was heartbroken at the choice she made at the end. Well written and very enjoyable, it helps to have read the rest of the series first but I think you could cope to read this stand-alone.

Review: FBI Dragon Chronicles Complete Omnibus by J.L. Hendricks by J. A. Cipriano 5 of 5 stars

FBI Dragon Chronicles Complete Omnibus, An FBI Dragon Shifter Urban Fantasy Adventure: A Ritual of Fire, A Ritual of Death, A Ritual of Conquest FBI Dragon Chronicles Complete Omnibus, An FBI Dragon Shifter Urban Fantasy Adventure: A Ritual of Fire, A Ritual of Death, A Ritual of Conquest  by
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great trilogy that is well written and full of drama and excitement. I quickly became addicted to it and it only became disappointing when I realised there were no more books about Alyson and Vlad after I finished the trilogy.

A Ritual of Fire - 5*

Alyson is a dragon shifter (the last one and hiding it from others) and Vlad a 200-year-old Vampire - they work together as partners for the FBI in a secret department that looks into a crime involving paranormal people and artefacts. They are starting to investigate some strange murders of shifters, witches and similar and see a disturbing pattern that suggests that something very dangerous and dark is going on. Can they find out what is going on, what they are trying to achieve and who is doing all of these murders?

Great story. I loved the relationship between Alyson and Vlad and the suggestion of possible romance between them in the future. The story was well told and very clear and easy to understand. As this is the first story in the series I'm definitely addicted and just NEED to know what happens next. A great writing partnership that has definitely delivered something special - they need to keep this going!!

A Ritual of Death - 5*

Alyson is a dragon shifter and FBI Agent with her vampire partner Vlad. They recently finished a case and thought they would have finished with the apocalyptic scenarios even though she also discovered there is another dragon shifter in existence. Now there is a fresh ritualistic murder and they are going to have to go on a very dangerous operation in Russia which will mean they have to go into Vlad's dark past. Can they handle this on their own and stop the vampire race being wiped off the planet?

This was action all the way as they went into extreme danger. I loved that there was a lot of expansion on Vlad's past and also some closening in the relationship between Alyson and Vlad too. There were a lot of twists and turns in the story and times when it was difficult to work out who to trust too. Well written and very enjoyable - can't wait to find out what happens next.

A Ritual of Conquest - 5*

When Alyson and Vlad return from Moscow they have to do their best to stop dragon Bravog to bring about the end of the world. He is allied with demonic forces, twisted weres, and corrupted mages so a formidable force. In order to defeat him, Alyson works on realising her true magic potential and Vlad takes on a role that boosts his own power. Working together as only they can will they be able to defeat him and protect the world?

This was an action-packed book which kept me reading faster and faster as I needed to know what would happen next. I loved the way Alyson was so determined to do things her way and the way Vlad supported her in that wish even if he didn't understand why she wanted it to be done that way. I did want to know what happened in the future for Alyson and Vlad and so I really hope the authors collaborate together to write more stories about them.

Review: From Elsewhere by Sarah Baethge 3 of 5 stars

From Elsewhere From Elsewhere by Sarah Baethge
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Nysol is an alien (a Sharill) which is a human like alien so when he escapes his Kisleem enemies who are chasing him and crashes on Earth he is mistaken for a human and treated as such. He meets Sean a human camping with friends and without thought uses some advanced technology on him to extract memories so he can gain language as quickly as possible. This causes a problem as Sean is injured and is very confused about everything. So when Lester arrives he is not recognised by Sean and then he assumes Nysol is human and together they try to get Sean some medical attention. They meet Dr. Amy Carter who tries to help Sean. However when Polt (a Kisleeman) tries to catch Nysol it suddenly becomes a risk to the new friends he has made too.

This was a retelling of an old theme for sci/fi books and films of an alien that is human like and stuck on Earth. It did however have some new twists with the arrival of Polk and the danger they were all in. It was an ok story which I enjoyed although a couple of times I found it a bit tedious and had to put it down for a little while. So an enjoyable read that was well written but just came a bit short on what I expected from the blurb for it.

Review: The Dragon's Gift Trilogy by Jada Storm by May Sage 5 of 5 stars

The Dragon's Gift Trilogy The Dragon's Gift Trilogy by Jada Storm by
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Book 1 -

Dareena Sellis is just and orphan of a farmer who works as a serving girl at the Hallowdale Inn until fate takes a hand and she is chosen by the dragon huntress and finds herself in the keep swapping her miserable suitor from before to three handsome dragon princes. Seems she is what is described as the Dragon's Gift and is supposed to become the mate and bear the children of the future king of Dragonfell. However the three princes are triplets and she is being asked to choose who will become the next king - and neither of them are willing to concede to the other. Her decision could mean the salvation or the end of the kingdom as the current enemy is close to victory against them. What will she do?.....

Wow - what a lovely problem to have. I loved the story and the premise behind it. It was very well told and I could feel and empathise with the dilemmas and problems she was going through. I'm not sure I could have chosen between them either - they were like one third of a whole person as they each had their own strong points that had to work together to get real results. Well written as I would expect from Jasmine and it was so easy to get immersed in the story and the world that she created. Definitely one to add to your lists of must read books.

Book 3 -

Dareena is pregnant but is in danger for both her own and her unborn child's life as the war with the magicians intensifies. Can the three mates survive and keep Dareena and the unborn child safe from all the spies and assassination attempts?

This is a great ending to the series and has a lot of action and drama as integral parts of the story. There were a lot of twists and turns many of which were impossible to predict and were a complete surprise to me. The book was well written and everything was clear and easy to understand.

Review: Heroes for Hire: Books 7-9 by Dale Mayer 3 of 5 stars

Heroes for Hire: Books 7-9 Heroes for Hire: Books 7-9 by Dale Mayer
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A great value collection of three books in the Heroes for Hire series.

4* - Harrison's Heart

Ice's father calls the team for help and Harrison steps up to stop himself from going stir crazy and escape all the happy couples in the compound. A senator has been shot, his wife badly beaten and his daughter is now missing. He finds the daughter but she is ex-military, very angry at the world, and would rather look after herself than go anywhere with Harrison. Zoe is definitely on a mission and there is no room in her world for anyone - even heroes like Harrison. However, she has angered the wrong people and they are determined to stop her meddling even if it means ending her. Can Harrison put all of the pieces together before their world is blown apart?

This was a dramatic story with lots of drama and intrigue as Harrison struggled with the complexities of the situation as well as Zoe and all the ways he was starting to feel about her. It was nice to explore the morality of certain acts and behaviours that were involved in the story and a small number of actions that could be done to counter them. Well told and described, this was a good story that I enjoyed reading.

5* - Saul's Sweetheart

Saul is a member of a team searching for SEAL Benji’s missing brother Daniel, but it then it appears that he is involved in something much darker after finding Rebel who is hanging around Daniel's apartment looking for her missing best friend Tammy. As bodies start to pile up Rebel is terrified it will be Tammy next. Saul and the team would prefer it if Rebel left it to them to find them both but there is no way she is going to sit back and so he finds himself protecting her too. Can they find Daniel and Tammy alive and why is Saul so drawn to Rebel?

I loved this story which had the right mixture of a mystery, drama, danger and romance. I enjoyed the way feelings for Rebel just crept up on Saul and as it became more inevitable he switched to being fully committed to it. Well written and very enjoyable.

4* - Dakota's Delight

Bailey is getting over losing her husband and after witnessing a murder she runs into traffic to escape and is almost run over by Dakota. Not knowing if she is hurt or not Dakota has to find her, and then finding out why she was running he persuades her to move into the compound. Bailey feels forced into accepting his help by the circumstances which gives her a problem - he gives her thoughts and feelings she thought she could never have again - can she stay safe and not give away her heart? Without Exception Without Exception by K.E. Osborn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tomi loves her tattoo studio Hope and Faith Ink which her late parents helped her to set up, but developer Alex Smith is determined to close her down and redevelop the site - what an asshole!!! The only light in her life is autistic brother Levi and kind, sweet and secretive customer, Xander who cares for her and her brother and is sweeping her off her feet. When things come to a head her heart is going to be broken and she is going to feel betrayed - the question is who is going to be the man to put her back together again?

Wow - this was a story that creeps up on you are you read the story and sympathise with Tomi over Alex Scott and feel great for her and her relationship with Xander. When the truth comes out it is heartbreaking and I could feel all of her frustration and heartbreak as she worked through the betrayal she had felt. As the story progressed it was great to read of the chance at a HEA they had if they had the courage to believe in what they had and the power of family. Well written and very enjoyable, this story is guaranteed to leave you feeling emotional at times.

This is the final book in the series giving all the background of the lives of the Deschanel siblings before The House of Crimson and Clover series. Some more major incidents occurred that have a lasting effect and shape the events of the following series.

This was well written and very enjoyable. It makes me want to go and re-read the House of Crimson and Clover series now as I feel I would have a better appreciation of the events that befell the Deschanel siblings and their children.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rory thinks she knows what she is dealing with at the University commonly known as "Villain Academy" but can she really trust the shocking revelation she received from someone who is proven in the past to be her enemy? If her mother really is still out there and alive she needs to uncover the real truth behind it but can she put herself into the hands of the very mages who once betrayed her? At least the other 4 scions have her back now which is a huge relief. But can Rory fight for everything and everyone she holds dear even if the casualties might be more than she can comfortably bear?

This book was definitely full of plenty of drama as Rory did her best to navigate all of the politics and people in her life while struggling with the question of who could she trust. There was plenty of drama, magic and interesting behaviour as this story unfolded. If I had any criticism for it, the book ended rather abruptly. Looking forward to what happens next.

Camp Lake Camp Lake by John A. Heldt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Carson siblings are in Phoenix in 1983 and they are in the last timeframe they believe they will find their parents before the need to go back to the present day with their families. Adam and Greg have remained in Arizona with their families, Natalie is using their scarce resources to search the country for leads and Cosy and Caitlin have travelled to jobs they have secures in a summer camp in Maine, which is where their parents met. Life then gets complicated as tragedy strikes as one of the family is injured trying to prevent a possible drowning of a student at the camp. This is the last cook in the Carson Chronicles series of books detailing their various adventures of the time-travelling siblings - can they find their parents before they have to leave?

Wow - so many events and details in this book. There were constant twists and turns which left you with lots of what-if scenarios, that to be honest I almost never got right! As always the author had done a great deal of background work so that the timelines and events were accurately depicted. I loved the characters who felt real so that I felt quite sad to realise this is the end of the series. Well written and very enjoyable.

Vince's Vixen Vince's Vixen by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Vince is not interested in all the romance happening at Legendary Security but when he finds himself in the Galapagos Islands he finds himself having to deal with all sorts of unexpected emotions. Vanessa is on one of her research trips but as this year's one is almost successfully over their vessel is boarded by pirates and she wakes up tied up having been knocked unconscious and moved into the inside of a rusty old boat adrift on the sea. Worse still, one of the female researchers is missing. After Vince and his colleague rescue them they return to shore and try to work out what has happened. Everyone but Vanessa wants to go home, but she is determined to find her missing colleague. Everything then gets complicated when other team members start to go missing. Can Vince keep Vanessa safe, find the original missing colleague and rescue the rest of the team?

This was a sweet story of how when the time is right, no matter the danger, love cannot be denied. I was so pleased to see Vince analysing his feelings and coming to the right conclusion. Well written, this was an enjoyable story in the SEAL type of fiction. A sweet HEA at the end too.

King Outta Water King Outta Water by Julia Mills
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Dragon Guard Rene Malveaux (King) is working undercover for the Dragon Protection Agency and when a load of dead shifters appear in the Big Easy he is there to try and stop any more dying as well as protecting his Queen (whether she wants him to or not!). Voodoo Queen Pricilla DeClouette has always been a force to be reckoned with and she has always been in love with Rene and she has resisted everyone else just waiting for him to finally return to her - the question is can she swallow her pride in order to get it? Can Rene and Cilla work out their complicated relationship and solve the shifter deaths at the same time?

This had the working of a nice story, it was just difficult to read at times due to the use of accurate language with I found irritating instead of adding more to the story. Plenty of danger and drama as these two finally got all their ducks in a row and realised what was there waiting for them.

Aubria grew up in a village working in the king's orchard looking after the trees and harvesting the produce. She is betrothed to Lane but that is not what she wants and cannot ignore her longing to not be tied down but to wander the land, so when the Potioner arrives with his complicated past, she feels fascinated by him and what he can teach her. Can they both work together to share knowledge, solve problems and change the paths of their lives?

I found this story a little slow to start with so stick with it as you will be rewarded with a powerful story of how two people from different sides of the same fate can come together to share their knowledge, skills and eventually hearts. Aubria was certainly stubborn and determined which gave her the strength and fortitude to do all of the amazing things she needed to do as part of the various mysteries that she had to resolve. It was easy to get involved in the characters and their thoughts and emotions. I just wonder if there will be another book as I would love to know about al the amazing places and thing that they can go to now that the orchard is safe and they are together.

This is a very passionate story of love and betrayal, and how it is possible to find your perfect soulmate at a time when you are not looking for one. I loved the way the relationship between Remi and jade built up and yet wasn't perfect just like it is for most normal people too. Well written, it was easy to feel and experience the thoughts and emotions of the characters in the story. Great story.
