New Release - Night Wedding
A witch and vampire paranormal romcom

My vampire boyfriend is acting strange.

Is it the seven-month itch?

We’ve passed that milestone, but maybe our relationship has become routine. My best friend thinks I should spice things up. That might be easy for a half-siren, but I’m a witch. I can master spells, not seduction.

My awkward attempt proves it. I'll stick to dancing in clubs rather than my bedroom.

Although Diego claims nothing’s wrong with us, he’s still distant. He’s keeping something from me, but what?

Then I learn his gorgeous ex is in Salem, and she wants him back.

Vamp, please. You had your chance.

Is she the reason he’s acting weird? I need to up my game and save him from this walking nightmare. The last time they were together, she broke his heart and stole his mortal life.

I may not have her grace or immortality, but I’m not losing my vampire without a fight.

Awkward encounters, found families, and quirky housemates. Visit Salem with a hapless witch, broody vampire, foody wolf shifter, and dancing dragon shifter in a hot series with romance, humor, and suspense!

Review: Kyron by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

Kyron (The K9 Files Book 15)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kyron goes back to his home in Aspen to find missing retired war dog Beth. There he finds Miranda who runs an unofficial animal rescue and has been feeding Beth who is not alone but also does not seem bold enough to come onto her property yet. Miranda does two jobs so she can feed the animals she is responsible for but as it is too expensive in the area for her to move she is stuck coping with her miserable neighbour who complains about her and her animals. When Kyron turns up looking for the three-legged dog she has been feeding things with the guy next door start to get really ugly!

I enjoyed this story with the emotional aspects of Kyron returning home and his relationship with his family as well as the fractured relationship between Miranda and her neighbour. I did find her determination to care for so many animals hard to relate to as I could never do anything like that myself but it did make for an interesting story. There was definitely plenty of drama and danger in the story and I loved the way that Kyron stepped up and did his best to keep her and the animals safe. Contains a little sexual content at the end of the story.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Review: Bearly Rivals by Adrianne Kane 2 of 5 stars

Bearly Rivals

Bearly Rivals by Adrianne Kane
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Bailey gave up on ever finding love and is stuck just working and growing her interior design business. Then on a blind date set up by her best friend she meets bear shifter Jaxon who is everything she could ask for as he is strong, handsome and kind. But his rival for leadership of the clan is Levi and he quickly becomes a rival for her affections too. Then she discovers that the guys have a romantic history with each other. What is going to happen when it appears that the winner for her affections will get the clan too - her heart won't accept anything less than both of them at the same time?

This was very disjointed and felt like it was a story that didn't quite hang together properly. I found the election of a new clan leader a bit weird and find it difficult to process the outcome. I did like that the guys had a history and the dilemma of the two. Easy to read. Does contains sexual content that is MM as well as MF.

Review: Flirting with Monsters: The Complete Series by Eva Chase 5 of 5 stars

Flirting with Monsters: The Complete SeriesFlirting with Monsters: The Complete Series by Eva Chase
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great value boxset containing four books that feature a sassy pyromaniac thief, four sexy-as-sin monsters, and a paranormal conspiracy of epic proportions. Get ready for the ride of your life. I'll put my review of each of the four books below:

#1 Shadow Thief - 5*

Saorsa is a sassy thief who does what she can to release supernatural monsters from the cages they are placed in within collectors' homes. She then lets rip and allows her pyromaniac tendencies free and leaves the whole place burning. On what was just an ordinary job she let three free from their cages, stole some trinkets to pay bills, and did her usual exit. What she didn't count on is that the three very manly monsters would follow her home. So now she has a seductively cheeky incubus, a sweetly enthusiastic demon, and a grimly stoic angel camped out in my kitchen, determined to repay her for her help, and they won’t get out the apartment until they’re satisfied they’re even. It appears that a covert band of hunters caught their boss before the trail went cold. In a lucky coincidence, it now means they are after the same people as Saorsa who is determined to find the people who killed the people she loved the most. So she is all in with them. It should be simple surely to track the baddies down, steal back the boss of the three monsters, stay alive and maybe hook up with a gorgeous monster or two.

I absolutely loved this new series which was all the required features - a sassy woman, some hot supernatural beings and a quest that united them. It was easy to read and addictive as I became more and more involved in the story. Lots of danger and drama in the skirmishes with the hunters kept me glued to my Kindle Fire as I couldn't put it down. Easy to understand and feel the thoughts and emotions of the various characters. Does contain sexual content and is a reverse harem style story.

#2 Twilight Crook - 5*

Saorsa lost her apartment and sense of security while helping the three sexy monsters who followed her home. However, the new lovers (as they now are) make her feel as if she got the better part of the bargain. Unfortunately, their boss Omen who they worked together to rescue, is not at all keen on humans - in fact, all he does is test her and try his best to prove that she is not good enough to continue to help them. Too bad then that her mortal skills are far too useful to ignore - after all, they have the group of monsters torturing people to destroy so they can release all of their prisoners. Interestingly, as part of passing all of the tests set for her by Omen, they discover she has powers that no human is meant to wield which creates the question - if she is not human what is she and can she work out how to use this supernatural side of her nature? After all, this could be her only chance to avenge the murder of the woman who raised her as well as all the beings who have been murdered since. Only one thing seems certain - that she is not going to back down!

Wow - this certainly was an action-packed story that kept me hooked wanting to know what was going to happen next. It was nice to see the relationships between Saorsa and the guys developing and that it felt more two-way than them feeling that they owed her something. The new powers were interesting and I loved the way Omen tried to help her work out how to use them. The ending of this story certainly was dramatic and I can't wait to find out what happens next. Contains some sexual content.

#3 Dusk Avenger - 5*

Saorsa has teamed up with monsters (who are now her lovers) because an organisation called the Company of Light were already on her list to be destroyed have now scaled up that list after they may have damaged one of her demon sweethearts beyond repair - so they are definitely overdue some flame action. However, she needs to be careful as the inner fire she only recently discovered is intent on burning her up at the same time as burning the baddies - somehow she needs to learn some control of this skill before she destroys herself and everything/everyone she loves. So she determines to understand where both it and herself came from - however, will those answers end up being even more dangerous than not knowing in the first place? Enemies are multiplying by the minute and for all Saorsa knows the worst of them could be standing right next to her.

OMG - so much happened in this instalment of the series. It was great to find out a bit more about where Saorsa came from and what her new power was like although I fear that is going to open a whole new set of problems for her. The drama was definitely ratcheting up as the story unfolded further and it definitely ended on a series of cliffhangers that just made me want to scream as I finished the last page of this book in the series. Well written and very easy to feel and empathise with the thoughts and emotions felt by the characters. I definitely enjoyed some of the dramatic moments in this story. Contains some sexual content.

#4 Dark Champion - 5*

Saorsa now knows what she really is with the help of her 4 monster lovers and that, unfortunately, means that the most powerful monsters fear her (or what she is) and want to stamp out her very existence. Add to her list of tasks that they are still trying to destroy the Company of Light and the psycho monster who has teamed up with them, and she really does appear to be between a rock and a hard place. She has also discovered that the demon lover who was her strongest ally has been caught in the middle where both his freedom and his life are on the line. Can she control her powers and find a way to solve all of these problems, or will she be consumed?

This is an action-packed final instalment in the Flirting with Monsters series which will not disappoint whether you want to see more of Saorsa with the monsters, the Company of Light, the psycho monster and even the other characters as everything will work its way into an explosive conclusion. I loved the way everything came together and the final conclusion which was definitely not quite how I had anticipated it finishing. Well written and easy to read, feel and understand, I was completely hooked on the story and was unable to put my copy down as I read through it. My only disappointment was that the series is complete and there are no further adventures for these characters in the future.

Review: Pursued by Tana Stone 4 of 5 stars

Pursued (Raider Warlords of the Vandar #4)

Pursued by Tana Stone
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Human Alana is the most ruthless assassin in the Zagrath empire and has been given the assignment to find Raas Bron and kill him. Her plan is to seduce him and then kill him. But when she is there she realises that he is not the mindless killer she expected and is actually quite intelligent. After being taken to his bed she can't tell if she is seducing him or he is seducing her. Certainly, it is becoming hard to remember her mission. Soon she is more concerned that he is going to possess her body and her soul. However, the empire does not view rogue assassins kindly and they will come after her. Who will come out of this situation alive?

I enjoyed this story with the push and pull between them and the clever way that Bron interrogated her and then kept her under control. I did find the argument and banishment of his staff member a bit of an overreaction but it does set up the next book in the series well. It was good to see Bron with a fierce woman and I think that matched him well. Easy to read and understand. Does contain explicit sexual content.

Review: Blaze by Tana Stone 4 of 5 stars

Blaze (Inferno Force of the Drexian Warriors #4)

Blaze by Tana Stone
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Layne swore to herself that she would never fall for an alien warrior but now her life depends on trusting Drexian Dryx. She had to go to the space station to attend her cousin's wedding but when someone who is relentlessly pursuing her turns up, she enlists playboy Dryx to be her fake boyfriend - after all, when she goes home he will be nothing but a hot memory. When her return is delayed she has to pretend to be truly in love for even longer with him and can she continue to deny to herself that his touch lights her entire body up?

I really enjoyed this story with the evil man pursuing her and plotting against Dryx now he is in the way. The chemistry between Layne and Dryx was off the charts and it is almost as if they were the last to realise just how much they actually loved each other. Wedding planner Serge was as always a delight and he really needs to find a better source for phrases! Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Ella and the Emperor by Honey Phillips 3 of 5 stars

Ella and the Emperor (Alien Abduction #5)Ella and the Emperor by Honey Phillips
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Human Ella was taken as a child and then raised as a loved pet by an alien couple. One night of blood and terror destroyed her sheltered life and took her voice. So now she works as a slave in the emperor's palace. Emperor Karthajin rescues Ella from an attack and all she can do is cling to him in fear. He is new to the throne and surrounded by faces that smile but many of those people are hidden enemies. He unexpectedly finds comfort with Ella but his feelings grow stronger and he becomes reluctant to expose her to those in his court. Will his empire ever accept a human as his consort?

I enjoyed this story although I did find it a little weird the way their more intimate relationship started which almost felt like abuse. I did like Ella and her sense of humour and her outfit for the dinner they went to was hysterical! I was thrilled when they were able to sort everything out and be together. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Vampire Detective Midnight Collection One: Books #1-3: A Vampire, Fated Mates, Science Fiction Detective Series by J.C. Andrijeski 5 of 5 stars

Vampire Detective Midnight Collection One: Books #1-3: A Vampire, Fated Mates, Science Fiction Detective Series (Vampire Detective Midnight Box Sets Book 1)Vampire Detective Midnight Collection One: Books #1-3: A Vampire, Fated Mates, Science Fiction Detective Series by J.C. Andrijeski
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a great collection of the first three books in the Vampire Detective Midnight series by JC Andrijeski. In it we read about the adventures of Naoko "Nick" Tanaka is a vampire homicide detective recently transferred to the NYPD where he works in the employ of the human police. Individual book reviews follow:

#1 - Vampire Detective Midnight - 5*

Naoko "Nick" Tanaka is a vampire homicide detective recently transferred to the NYPD where he works in the employ of the human police. Described as a "Midnight" he gets his food delivered to the government housing he lives in. His wish is to be left alone and be able to work in peace but after just two weeks it all goes sideways when paintings start to appear on the street predicting murders with great accuracy before they happen. He becomes embroiled in the artist, dead hybrid-humans, a school principal who unsettles him and a conspiracy involving a very prominent and rich New York family. As he gets sucked into it all further will he survive or get re-programmed?

I absolutely loved this brand new series from this author which had a lot of grit, determination, drama, danger and raw emotions from the characters. I can't wait to find out what happens to Nick next and see where the stories take him. You can tell from the way he behaved in this story that he is going to be right there in the thick of anything happening in the future. Well written this was really enjoyable and I think would appeal to those who have enjoyed the Bridge and Sword series as well as new readers to the author.

#2 - Eyes of Ice - 5*

Nick is pulled into the world of underground boxing to help solve a case where they drain vampires for their blood and venom before extracting their hearts and tossing them outside of the safety of the dome. He might still be suspended but that doesn't stop him from getting involved, now he needs to reassure his girlfriend who now believes he has a death wish - especially as he does everything he can to avoid talking to her about whatever it is that is happening between them. Can Nick survive the ring and can he keep his relationship at arm's length?

This was a very dramatic instalment of the series with sections of graphic violence and sexual content in places. In this book we see Nick doing what he does best - going all in trying to find out who is behind the vampire harvesting/killing even if it puts himself in mortal danger. He also sticks true to form and doesn't handle relationships very well which was maddening to the point I could have throttled him at times!! Well written and easy to understand the thoughts and emotions that the characters were experiencing (even if I didn't always agree with them). If I had the chance to give Nick a message through the pages, it would be to stop being a dick and see what he has. Definitely recommended.

#3 - The Prescient - 5*

Vampire detective Nick associates with a few seers currently in his life including one who might come across as antisocial but has a talent for painting things before they happen (even though he only knows to paint it and not what it means). The latest one is of a bomb doing off in downtown New York however by the time Nick sees it, it is too late. With no leads apart from the painting, a murdered human who is the partner of eccentric vampire Straven (star designer and architect) he has little to go on. Soon it is apparent that a robbery gone wrong is not the right conclusion to make as it is something far more sinister with very far-reaching consequences. As part of the investigation, Nick will have to go too close to a life he thought he had left behind and he will see his ex-girlfriend with a new vampire boyfriend in a hip vampire club which sends Nick almost over the edge. Can Nick solve the case, work things out with Wynter and survive all the obstacles thrown at him?

OMG - so many surprises and intrigue for the future. I won't put any spoilers in here, but I'm relieved how some of this story went although there are some worries for the future there too. Keeping my fingers crossed for the characters in the future. I loved the detailed way that elements of the story were slowly peeled back (like layers in an onion) and the relationships that were built for the future between Nick and the humans he works with within the police. I loved what happened between Nick and Wynter (sorry can't say more). Well written and very easy to understand and feel, I'm wondering what is going to happen next in this very detailed world in the mind of the author. I just know it's going to be great.

Review: Seduced by the Sea Lord by Starla Night 2 of 5 stars

Seduced by the Sea Lord (Lords of Atlantis, #1)

Seduced by the Sea Lord by Starla Night
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Torun is a determined mer shifter who has gone against tradition and most of his people to come and find his soul mate in the human population. Lucy is a divorcee who is just trying to make some kind of existence while proving that sea opals exist and that she can find another one. She saves Torun from the depths and he declares that she is his soul mate. Can she accept what he is saying and can they both survive the prejudices of his people and the greed of hers?

I tried really hard to like this story but I just couldn't. I found Lucy to be very confused but also without personality and Torun was a bit too two-dimensional. I did understand it but no one explained exactly how the sea opals could be used by a cosmetic company and so I was just confused by it all. Contains some sexual content.

Review: Pillaged by Tana Stone 3 of 5 stars

Pillaged (Raider Warlords of the Vandar, #3)

Pillaged by Tana Stone
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Rachel was promised by her parents to be a Vagrath Imperial General's bride but he was much older than her and so she took her chances and managed to escape during a battle. Her ship was captured by the Vandar raiders - alien men who wear battle kilts and have tails. They never take prisoners but the hoard's Raas Toraan makes an exception for her and instead he is determined to take her as his mate by claiming her repeatedly in his bed until the mating marks appear on her skin. So having made a deal she is his willingly which will give her freedom from the Imperial General. The question is, will the General accept the situation?

Part of me enjoyed this story with the strange attitude that Toraan had as well as her determination to protect her heart, but there were many things that made me just want to shake her until she wised up. Running away constantly is not a solution and she seriously showed a total disregard for her own life at times which contracts her determination to be free of the situation her parents put her in. Easy to read and understand (even if I didn't agree with the characters at times). Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Survive by K.E. Osborn 5 of 5 stars

Survive (Houston Defiance MC #8)

Survive by K.E. Osborn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Some time ago the battle lines were drawn between Houston Defiance and the Militia when they had decided to try and outsmart them. One day things were going to come to a head. Within an MC organisation, there is a distinct chain of command and apart from loyalty, the members need to show respect. But sometimes prospects will fight that system. When the war strikes, those they love will fall, chaos will be there on the streets of Houston. The question is will the club survive and can it evolve so it has a future? Through all of that relationships will be tested, others will start, but the enduring connection is the club.

A great book for the last in the series which I was addicted to and could not put down even though it made me sad when I had finished and realised that was it. I loved the danger and drama in this story which was typical Houston Defiance territory. I loved Koda's devotion for Thayleah and I could the discussions between Zero and Cherry to be very emotional (and also a perfect example as to just how very strong she was). I just loved this book from the start to the finish, surprises, sadness and all. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Deb and the Demon by Honey Phillips 3 of 5 stars

Deb and the Demon (Alien Abduction #4)

Deb and the Demon by Honey Phillips
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Human Deb was abducted from Earth and sold as a slave to a vicious alien owner. Six months later she is pregnant and just trying to live and focus on her child. Rastrath is a mixed-blood Prince of the Royal House but has had a sad life as he was despised even by his mother. Deb is gorgeous and determined to protect her unborn mixed-race child which attracts him on multiple counts. Then an unexpected danger arises and they enter a marriage of convenience. The question is can Deb trust Rath's feelings for her are more than a desire to protect his investment plus can Rath follow his duty while building a family of his own?

I enjoyed this story which had Rath as a sensitive and caring alien who had experienced first-hand the prejudices of having a mixed-race and yet was also incredibly kind to all who encountered him including slaves. I loved his determination to help Deb and her unborn child as well as his determination to help the people on this particular planet. I enjoyed the friendship he had with the people who really were his family which also has some parallels with real life. Easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.

Instead, he meets Hope Hanson. Hope has spent her life training for this moment, for the day the monsters came for her father, Senator Hanson, but she had envisioned a war, not this sexy solo warrior with battered determination in his eyes. Since Hope was a child, she could call lightning with her mind, but the deadly gift might not be enough to protect her from the secrets her father has hidden away. Secrets that forged Jett into the solitary hunter he’s become. When Jett discovers the woman hunting him is his one true mate, he’ll be forced to face dark decisions in order to protect shifters across the globe. Maybe this time fate has finally made a mistake, because loving her isn’t an option. Jett’s on a collision course with destiny. Love and salvation were never part of the deal...

Links:

Teaser - “Did your father ever tell you about the research he funded with a biotech company called Evolution Defense?”
“No.” I shook my head, almost afraid to hear his answer. “Were they working on werewolves, too?”
“Yeah. They had federal funding for two projects. One was to genetically engineer werewolf DNA to give human super soldiers our heightened strength and senses without the need to shift.” He paused, watching me.
That sounded like my father. He wouldn’t abandon the work completely, just redirect the research to take the useful aspects of werewolves that he thought were more controllable and infuse them into human soldiers.
Jett went on. “But the other project seemed to be closer to the vest. He was working with a scientist, Dr. Deidra Harlow, and she was experimenting on ‘curing’ psychic abilities. I can’t help but think your father was only funding it to find a way to cure his daughter.”
My vision blurred as I struggled to blink back an unexpected wave of tears. “Oh.” I got up from the window seat, eager to escape. “There has to be another explanation. I… He wouldn’t. I…” I couldn’t complete a sentence and I didn’t want him to see me cry, so I walked away. I went to the coat closet, yanked my parka off a hanger, and put it on as I punched in the security code. Leia wandered onto the porch when I opened the door, sniffed, and ran back inside. She wasn’t a fan of snow, and without her sweater on, it was too cold for her anyway. I closed the door and started walking out onto the snowy walkway from the door to the driveway. The snow became deeper with each step. I wasn’t going to make it much farther.
The door opened behind me, and I quickly wiped the unwelcome tears from my cheeks. Jett’s voice was soft, almost tender. “I’m sorry, Hope. I shouldn’t have dumped that on you all at once. I just thought you should know the truth.”
The truth. That was why I’d brought Jett up here, but this wasn’t the truth I’d expected to uncover. I’d thought I was going to vindicate my father and his mission, but now it was all jumbled into a mess. I wasn’t sure how I’d be able to sort it all out and find my footing again. I turned around to find Jett standing on the threshold, barefooted, in a sweatshirt at least a couple of sizes too small for him, and a strangled sound somewhere between laughter and a sob escaped my throat.
He offered his hand to me. “Come back inside. We don’t have to talk about your dad.” I walked toward him and looked down at his hand and back up to his face. “You’re nothing like what I expected.”
He nodded, his lips curving up slightly at the corners. “I hope you’re not disappointed.” I shook my head and took his hand, enjoying the warmth that crept up my arm from the simple touch. Unlike Spence, this felt like the attraction in my books. Like we were magnets being pulled together.
He drew me in closer until my breasts almost brushed against his chest. “There’s more I should tell you but…I don’t think I can.”
I lost myself in his eyes and tipped my chin up, aching to be even closer. “Why not?” “Because…” He wet his lips. “All I want to do is kiss you.”
My heart pounded in my ears. He probably heard it. I swallowed the lump in my throat, half of me screaming inwardly to run and the other half pushing me to rise on my toes and kiss him. My voice came out in a breathy whisper. “I want that, too.”
He laced his cold fingers with mine. “What about your fiancé?”
I’d almost forgotten I’d been engaged. I whispered, “He’s seeing someone else.”
Jett leaned in closer. “He’s an idiot.”
His lips touched mine as my eyes drifted closed. He wrapped his arm around my waist and pressed me tight against him. I brought my other hand up and slid my fingers through the back of his hair. His tongue parted my lips, and I moaned as he explored my mouth. I tilted my head, hungry to lose myself in his arms.
I was so consumed by the cyclone of passion he’d just kindled that I barely noticed when my feet left the ground. He carried me back into the house, kicking the door closed behind him. He put me back down and slowly broke the kiss.
His eyes wandered over my face as if he was committing it to memory, and then he stepped back, his hands falling back to his sides. “I should put on some socks and shoes. If you show me where you keep the wood pile, I’ll get a fire going in one of these fireplaces.”
I blinked. A fire? Other than the one suddenly roaring inside me?
I sucked in a breath and took a step back. “Um. Yes. I can do that.” My brows pinched together. “We did just kiss, right? I didn’t dream that?”
He nodded. “Yeah.”
His chest expanded in the tight hoodie, and I realized he was trying to catch his breath. He was playing it cool, but he looked just as winded as I felt. So why were we stopping? I blurted out. “Then why are you thinking about socks and shoes?”
He ran a hand through his hair. A shaky hand. What was I missing here?
He met my eyes. “Because if I don’t think about something else, things are going to get out of hand really fast, and…I have more to tell you.”
Until this moment, I’d never truly wanted anyone. Not like this. I hadn’t realized it before, but this desire he’d just stoked with a single kiss was all-consuming.
I took a step closer. “What if I don’t want to talk?”
A muscle clenched in his cheek. “Have you forgotten what I am? I’m still a werewolf, Hope.” His words hit me like a slap back into reality. Gradually, I started to nod. “I know.”
“I meant what I said last night. I will never hurt you. Not if I can help it.” He reached over to cup my cheek, his thumb stroking my skin as I met his eyes. “But I want you so damned bad I…I don’t have words.” He dropped his hand and walked away. “I better get my shoes.” I sat down on the stairs, no longer trusting my legs to keep me upright. My entire body felt hot and achy. I’d never been turned on like this before. It was tough to think straight through the haze of desire. Jett was a werewolf, that hadn’t changed, but the way I felt about it was. He wasn’t a monster.
And if what he’d told me about Evolution Defense was true, my dad had lied to me about much more than werewolves.

Review: Craving Charlesia: A Protector Romance by P.J. Fiala 4 of 5 stars

Craving Charlesia: A Protector Romance (RAPTOR, #3)

Craving Charlesia: A Protector Romance by P.J. Fiala
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Charlesia Sampson is an operative for RAPTOR and she survived an explosion when she was in the Army which now means she has a prosthetic and yet she is gritty and is definitely NOT a damsel in distress. But when she is arrested for murder everything changes. Detective Sam Bowers found it hard finding her at the scene of a murder but when the truth became clear he sees her differently. Then it becomes a joint effort to uncover the murderer and find a missing child - but can they do that while hiding their need for one another because this detective is definitely craving Charlesia?

I loved this story which had the mystery of the murder, the missing child, the associated other crimes and the romance between Charly and Sam. It was a regular mystery as the reader was on the same journey as the characters following the trail and trying to work out who, what and where. Sam and Charly were a lovely couple who just belonged together and it was great to see them finally let their attraction free and build into something so special. I loved the ending and how they became a single unit. Definitely a HEA. Easy to read and feel the thoughts and emotions of the characters. Contains sexual content.

Review: Hatch by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

Hatch (The Mavericks #16)

Hatch by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hatch is happy to go and rescue the father and daughter archaeological duo, Marcus and Milly, after they disappeared after being questioned by the Egyptian government and were then released. Most people assumed they has skipped town leaving their belongings in the hotel room but the Mavericks believe that they have been taken. When the father's foreman is found dead Hatch goes out to investigate the body-dump location only to find the missing daughter Milly ready to collapse out on the sand. She is shaken and grieving as her father had died during their captivity and so as much as she is now safe he is never coming home with her. Determined to find the man who is responsible for his death and for more information on revelations that have changed her entire life. Can Hatch help find answers and answer her outstanding questions?

This was certainly a mystery woven into a story around the discoveries made in the pyramids of Egypt. I loved the layers of the story and the fact that it went back 10 years to find a start to the problems that manifested themselves in their abduction. As is often the root of problems, greed played a major part in both the preventative measures and the abduction reasons. I loved the way that Hatch was a strong and stable influence in her life and was there for her to lean on and take support whenever she needed it. It was definitely a foregone conclusion that they would become more to each other by the end. Easy to read and understand. Contains a little sexual content at the end of the story.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Review: Plundered by Tana Stone 2 of 5 stars

Plundered (Raider Warlords of the Vandar #2)Plundered by Tana Stone
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Her sister Astra gave herself to a cruel and heartless Vandar warlord but older sister Tara is hunting her down to get her back. So when her warship is attacked by another warlord she expects to be blown out of the sky. Instead, she finds herself taken as a captive in return for leaving her spaceship alone. She may be his property but she will not submit to his demands even if his hard body and fiery eyes ignite an intense desire in him. The goal of finding her sister still remains and although Astra is not there he does know who has her - maybe if she gives him what he wants he will help her to find her? Her dilemma is whether giving her body to him will be all that he gets or will he plunder her heart too?

I enjoyed this story which had some great twists and turns as well as moments when they really had to rely on each other. I did find the constant arguments between them quite tiring and so I did drop my review by a star because it almost made me give in reading it. I did enjoy the fighting and the other folks that they met on the planet when they were there which was really interesting. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Holding Hadleigh: A Protector Romance by P.J. Fiala 4 of 5 stars

Holding Hadleigh: A Protector Romance (RAPTOR, #2)

Holding Hadleigh: A Protector Romance by P.J. Fiala
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

He really can't stand the kind of scum who target children and so former Army Ranger Donovan Keachis currently focused on taking down an online paedophile determined to stop at nothing until they are taken down. Encountering a sexy social worker, he immediately suspects foul play and also suspects that she is either involved or her interference will help them to escape justice. Social worker Hadleigh Watterson will do pretty much anything to protect innocent children and is currently gathering evidence during a case study when Donovan sidetracks her plan which is to barrel in and take down the vermin who are abusing the innocent. Teaming up seems to be the only option especially as there is an intense attraction between the two of them. The question is can Donovan uncover the criminal's identity while holding on to Hadleigh for good?

This was definitely a mystery that I was following along with Donovan and Hadleigh trying to work out who the mysterious Marco48 was the online paedophile. As the story progressed the person I thought it was changed but the final person was a complete surprise to me. A complete rollercoaster that I was with for the ideas the case progressed. I loved the relationship between Van and Hadleigh and the way that built as their attraction grew. A successful conclusion and a HEA at the end. Easy to read, feel and understand. Contains some sexual content.

Review: Possessed by Tana Stone 3 of 5 stars

Possessed (Raider Warlords of the Vandar, #1)

Possessed by Tana Stone
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Human Astrid was a navigator on her sister's ship taking Zagrath supplies from one world to another. However, she makes an error and they accidentally stray into Vandar space and instead of letting them kill her sister she offers herself to them as a prisoner. Raas Kratos is the Vandar warrior who has gained a beautiful human woman as his prisoner. While she first finds him terrifying, over time she gets to know him and realises that he is actually quite kind to her and she starts to feel proper love for him. He also explains to her more about the differences between the Zagrath and the Vandar and she realises that maybe the bad guy is not who she thinks it is.

I really enjoyed this story. Astrid was sassy and also quite naive. Raas was a real man's man but he was also a lot more caring and sensitive than his exterior suggests. I loved their relationship and the way that she could push his buttons but he was strong enough to not lose it completely. I was thrilled when they finally got a HEA even though they had gone through so many challenges. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Saving Shelby: A Protector Romance by P.J. Fiala 4 of 5 stars

Saving Shelby: A Protector Romance (RAPTOR, #1)

Saving Shelby: A Protector Romance by P.J. Fiala
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Diego Josephs retrained as an operative in RAPTOR and is determined to take down a kidnapper who is on the run with two children. But when he tracks down the woman who is accused of kidnapping two children after murdering their mother it becomes clear to him that nothing is as it seems. Shelby Davidson is determined to save her niece and nephew while being determined to stop at nothing to reveal the truth about her sinister brother-in-law who she knows has everything to do with her sister's disappearance. However, convincing the rugged and irresistible operative might be hard. But when Diego realises that she is telling the truth he knows that he must protect the children while at the same time, saving Shelby.

I really enjoyed this story which was very dramatic with moments of intense danger and drama interspersed with moments of tenderness and stolen chances at trying to give the children as normal a life as they could. I loved that Diego had PTSD and the role that his therapy dog played in the story. It was really like a suspense film you would see at the movies as they tried to get to the bottom of who killed her sister, how to stop the evil brother-in-law, how to avoid the police who believed his lies, and how to make as good a life and protect the children as much as they could. Easy to read and feel it also meant that it was easy to understand everything. Beautiful HEA at the end.

Review: Cam and the Conqueror by Honey Phillips 3 of 5 stars

Cam and the Conqueror (Alien Abduction #3)Cam and the Conqueror by Honey Phillips
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Cam is abducted from Earth and is enslaved to an alien ruler. As he trains her to submit to him she sees through his cold facade and as her body learn to surrender her heart learns to love him. Kievan Rus was exiled by his people and has fought had to establish a place in the galaxy. He rules his space station with an icy control and it means everything to him until a beautiful woman challenges his restraint and her warmth eases the cold that he has felt for a long time. But he promised her to someone else who is a member of a Royal House as payment for a deal he made. If he fails then everything he has is in danger, or will Cam's love for him survive such a brutal betrayal by him?

I really enjoyed this book which was firmly in the lands of BDSM with Kievan clearly the Master and Cam the Servant. On the face of it, he is very brutal and mistreats people, but when you dig deeper he is very fair, as kind as he can be, and only firm with those who betray him or his family. Easy to read and understand. Cam because slightly annoying with her insistence that he would be more human and kinder to the people who serve him. Contains a lot of explicit sexual content.

Review: Warwick Dragons: Books 1-3 by Milly Taiden 4 of 5 stars

Warwick Dragons: Books 1-3

Warwick Dragons: Books 1-3 by Milly Taiden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A great value boxset covering the lives of the three Warwick dragon shifter brothers and how they met their mates. Includes a set of shorts at the end covering what happened after they had their mates which was a lovely update to the original stories. I loved the appearance of a special guest. All books contain explicit sexual content.

Individual book reviews:

I received a free review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

#1 - Taming London - 4*

London Warwick is a dragon shifter and millionaire playboy. He lives a life of indulgence sleeping with a different woman every night and has absolutely no plans to change his bad-boy ways. Even when his mother decides he needs to revamp his image so that he is successful in finding his mate - something he definitely has no plans to do. And so he decides to make it very difficult for the PR expert that he mother hires for him to clean up his image. PR Consultant Bethany Russo has had a crush on London Warwick for years and is determined to ignore that and only be professional while she sorts out his image - the last thing she wants to do is become another notch on his bedpost by being another of his conquests. The only issue is that as soon as he meets her he realises that she actually is his mate and he really needs to handle this carefully. Sparks fly between them both and there are plenty of stolen kisses and hidden secrets along the way. Every time Bethany opens her heart to London something goes wrong - can a cold case murder and international hitman stand in the way of this romance or will they find their HEA?

This was a lovely story of misunderstandings, irresistible attraction and intense danger. Throughout it all, I was hoping that they would find a way to trust each other, resolve the cold case and have a HEA. It was well written as I could sense and feel the thoughts and emotions of the characters as they went through the events in the story. Really enjoyable and I am looking forward to reading the next one in the series about another of the Warwick brothers. Contains some explicit sexual content.

#2 - Loving York - 4*

Dragon shifter York Warwick is a widower and owner of the most renowned bank in the world. He spends his life working at least 20 hours per day and no matter what his mother might tell him, he is done with love. Then he meets stunning antique dealer Josie Essa who was hired by his mother to catalogue some of their belongings and he finds himself spending time with her because she appears to be his mate. Josie has a secret - yes she is an antique dealer but she is also a skilled thief. The problem for her is that she cares for the family, likes spending time with brooding York who seems to be obsessed with her 5-inch heels but he is also the person she needs to steal from. Between her secrets, his past and a blackmailing snake shifter who could destroy Josie's life, their fragile relationship could be doomed from the start. Hopefully, the truth will give them a chance to have a life together as the fates mates that they are.

I really enjoyed this story with the competing facets of the blackmail, the blossoming relationship between York and Josie and their interactions with the rest of the Warwick household. It was great to see that he immediately went to work to protect his mate and how many resources they really had at their disposal to help the situation. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

#3 - Romancing Paris - 4*

Paris Warwick is a dragon shifter and a reclusive artist who just wants to be alone and is not interested in finding his mate no matter what his mother says. Then he relents and goes to a nightclub one night and sees his mate and everything in his life changes even though he is adamant that he will allow himself only one night with her. Corinne DuBois is on the run after spending years planning her perfect escape but it only took her one night to ruin it all. The sexy stranger from the club had some weird power as she is now pregnant. Sadly he gave her a fake name and so two months later she is working at a cafe and is comforted by an elegant woman who gives her a job and a place to stay. It then turns out that her one night stand was actually the woman's son - Paris Warwick. Over time she can't help but fall in love with him after he tells her that they are fated mates but the sting in the tail is that her past has caught up with her threatening the new life she was building with Paris.

I enjoyed the story with the one night stand, the consequences, the coincidence, the hidden past and the dramatic situation when it all came to a head. Paris definitely redeemed himself as he moved from douchebag to really nice guy who was devoted to his mate and impending child. Full of danger and drama this was a fun read with plenty of action. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Beth and the Barbarian by Honey Phillips 3 of 5 stars

Beth and the Barbarian (Alien Abduction, #2)Beth and the Barbarian by Honey Phillips
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Human Beth is hypersensitive to the emotions of others and so it resigned to spending her life alone until she is attacked by savage aliens and rescued by a massive scarred warrior with who she feels a connection for the first time. Afraid of living her life totally alone, when he tells her that she needs to go with him she does not hesitate. Dragan never expected to find the perfect female while tracking saboteurs targeting his people. As an outcast, he is scarred inside and out and knows he is unworthy of a mate, but his instincts say he must protect her from all danger and that includes his intense attraction to her. As they are both pursued across the galaxy they are forced even closer together. Can Dragar give Beth the love she deserves?

I really enjoyed this story which had a great mixture of necessity and romance. I loved the way that they fit very well together if only they realised that they both needed and deserved each other. Plenty of action and drama to keep you hooked. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

His thoughts were taking him into the extremely pleasurable, extremely distracting territory. Just as he’d decided to rein them in so he didn’t maul this woman with heated kisses right here on the sidewalk, bright orange and yellow lights exploded across the sky, followed by a resounding boom.

Hercules grabbed Brenna and pressed her against the building. She made a little “eep!” sound before going soft in his arms, and he was shocked to realize that despite her fear over whatever else was going on in her life, she trusted him.

“Hercules, what are you doing?” she asked.

He looked down at her face—there was no fear whatsoever. Mostly puzzlement, and, when he took in a breath to scent the air? Arousal.

Brenna cleared her throat. “Um, not that I mind your big, strong arms, but that’s just a firework someone set off.”

Another loud boom filled the air, but he didn’t look up at the sky—he focused on the woman in front of him. Bright lights reflected against her eyes, which were locked on his. She licked her lips. He couldn’t look away from her mouth; it wasn’t physically possible for him to tear his gaze from her.

He dipped his head toward hers and said, “I want to kiss you.”

“I want that, too.” She sounded breathless.

He’d never heard sweeter words. With a low growl of need in the back of his throat, he tilted his head and pressed his lips to her mouth.

F***. She tasted divine. He wanted to bury himself inside of her, caress her skin, taste every inch of her.

She moaned softly and he touched his tongue to her lips. He wasn’t sure if it would shock her or whether she’d like it, but to his pleasure, she opened her mouth, allowing him in.

He clutched her hips and deepened the kiss while pressing against her body, feeling the way she moulded to him. He was hot, heavy, desperate for release, but he ignored it because his primary goal was kissing this gorgeous woman.
