Review: Hatch by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

Hatch (The Mavericks #16)

Hatch by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hatch is happy to go and rescue the father and daughter archaeological duo, Marcus and Milly, after they disappeared after being questioned by the Egyptian government and were then released. Most people assumed they has skipped town leaving their belongings in the hotel room but the Mavericks believe that they have been taken. When the father's foreman is found dead Hatch goes out to investigate the body-dump location only to find the missing daughter Milly ready to collapse out on the sand. She is shaken and grieving as her father had died during their captivity and so as much as she is now safe he is never coming home with her. Determined to find the man who is responsible for his death and for more information on revelations that have changed her entire life. Can Hatch help find answers and answer her outstanding questions?

This was certainly a mystery woven into a story around the discoveries made in the pyramids of Egypt. I loved the layers of the story and the fact that it went back 10 years to find a start to the problems that manifested themselves in their abduction. As is often the root of problems, greed played a major part in both the preventative measures and the abduction reasons. I loved the way that Hatch was a strong and stable influence in her life and was there for her to lean on and take support whenever she needed it. It was definitely a foregone conclusion that they would become more to each other by the end. Easy to read and understand. Contains a little sexual content at the end of the story.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
