Review: Hexes and Hops by Jacki James by Lori Ames 4 of 5 stars

Hexes and Hops

Hexes and Hops by Jacki James by Lori Ames
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Declan is settling into life in magical Ravenstone, enjoying the beer festival, his protective wolf‑shifter boyfriend Gideon, and planning his bakery — until a brewmaster is found dead in a vat of beer. Rumours, hexes, and small‑town secrets pull Declan and Gideon straight into the mystery, and in Ravenstone, trouble is unavoidable… especially when the secret at the centre turns deadly.

Another cosy paranormal mystery in Ravenstone, and I loved how Declan and Gideon continued to deepen their connection in this instalment. Their relationship has such a warm, steady feel, and it fits perfectly with the town’s quirky charm. The beer festival chaos was delightful, and the misfits were as fun and unpredictable as ever. It all came together in a light, magical mystery that keeps the series feeling comforting and entertaining. This was an MM story.

Review: Crowe by Jacki James 5 of 5 stars

Crowe

Crowe by Jacki James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Noah has spent six months rebuilding his life after escaping hell, finally starting to feel safe — until the man who once bought him resurfaces to claim him. Terrified, he turns to Three Bears Tactical, the only people who ever made him feel protected. Crowe normally handles training, not protection, but when Noah returns shaken and determined to fight, he steps in. Keeping Noah close becomes more than duty, and the line between protection and something deeper blurs fast. For Crowe, guarding Noah stops being a job. It becomes personal.

I loved how Crowe stepped up to protect Noah, even as Noah’s buyer escalated the danger and drama in his attempts to drag him back. The tension stayed high throughout, but the story balanced it beautifully with the growing love between Crowe and Noah. Their romance was woven seamlessly into the wider plot about a people‑trafficker who believed he was untouchable — and hated losing control. The book was full of emotions, feelings, and passion, especially as the two men tried to navigate their connection while leaning on the rest of Three Bears Tactical for support. A gripping mix of danger and heart, and a romance that felt both intense and deeply earned. This was an MM story with mature content with a Daddy/boy dynamic.

Review: Crystals and Corpses by Jacki James by Lori Ames 4 of 5 stars

Crystals and Corpses

Crystals and Corpses by Jacki James by Lori Ames
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Declan discovers he’s a witch and is thrown into Ravenstone, a quirky supernatural town where magic, monsters, and strong coffee are part of daily life. When a vampire is murdered during the Magic Festival, he teams up with Gideon, a handsome wolf shifter who can’t shift but has plenty of protective instincts. Between magical mishaps, meddling creatures, and growing feelings, the two must work together to catch a killer — and maybe fall in love along the way.

I loved that Declan and Gideon have an undeniable connection that sparks from the moment they meet, and it only grew stronger as they’re thrown into the chaos of Ravenstone. I loved watching Declan stumble his way through discovering the supernatural world — and his own magic — with equal parts wonder, panic, and determination. His journey of self‑discovery adds so much charm to the story, especially with Gideon right there beside him, steady and protective in all the ways that matter. Their chemistry is warm, passionate, and full of promise, the kind that makes you excited for what comes next. Add in a gripping murder mystery, quirky magical mishaps, and a town full of supernatural oddballs, and this becomes a fun, engaging read with a romance that feels like it’s only just beginning. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Gator by Jacki James 5 of 5 stars

Gator

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Julius Petros is used to dazzling men who want surface-level sparkle, not substance. But when he witnesses a violent abduction, he turns to the one person who sees past the performance—Harlan “Gator” Thibodeaux, a cocky, charming ex-military protector with a lethal edge and a surprising depth of loyalty. As danger escalates and secrets unravel, Gator becomes Julius’s shield and safe haven, embracing not just his glitter and sass but the vulnerable heart beneath. Now Julius must choose: keep hiding behind the persona he’s crafted, or risk everything by letting Gator in—for real.

I loved this story with the two men who danced around each other with all of the glitter, danger, and Gator - the man who sees through it all. I loved that Julius had been treated as arm candy—desired but never truly valued. His journey was one of reclaiming his self-worth, learning that he deserved more than admiration; he deserved love. Gator’s unwavering attention helped Julius see himself through a new lens, one that honours both his sparkle and his substance. I also loved that Julius never expected someone like Gator to be the one who truly saw him. Their relationship challenged preconceived notions of compatibility and attraction. That suggested that love often arrives in unexpected forms—and that emotional recalibration is necessary when someone finally meets you where you are. Lots of emotions and feelings in this MM story with mature content.

Review: Hawk by Jacki James 4 of 5 stars

Hawk

Hawk by Jacki James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mika, who has a history of running from trouble and an abusive ex, has built a safe life in Vesper, Texas. However, when his past catches up to him, he reluctantly turns to Duncan "Hawk" Hawkins for protection. Hawk, an ex-military bodyguard, is physically Mika's type but also embodies the kind of dominant man Mika has sworn to avoid due to past trauma.   Despite his reservations, Mika finds Hawk to be different—protective, patient, and dedicated to keeping him safe. As Hawk teaches Mika self-defense, a strong attraction develops between them. Mika is faced with a critical choice: continue running from his dangerous ex or risk his heart by trusting Hawk and standing to fight for his safety and a potential future together.

I loved this story with the two men who were drawn together and the situation with Mika's ex. Lots of danger and drama as the two men became closer to each other. Easy to feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like Daddy/boy dynamic.

Review: Hot Zone by Jacki James 4 of 5 stars

Hot Zone

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If there is one thing Fire Chief Samuel Sheridan knows, it’s that his son’s best friend is totally off limits. Too bad he clearly needs a Daddy. When they get a call to fight a blaze engulfing Mars Allen’s home, he needs a place to stay and Samuel has a guest room. It only makes sense to offer him and his cat Kismet a temporary home while they figure out their next move. Mars should be all wrong for him. But the way he responds to his bossy nature and steady guidance tells him that he’s everything I need. Samuel is ready to take the risk to have everything he wants with Mars. But will the arsonist get his revenge first?

I loved this last story in the series where Samuel and Mars gave in to their feelings and started a relationship together. Mixed with that was the arsonist who was starting to make mistakes. A lot of emotions and feelings in this story from the two story arcs. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like Daddy/boy dynamic..

Review: Archer by Jacki James by Sammi Cee 4 of 5 stars

Archer

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Crispin wants a lot of things like to move out of his brother’s house, to stop working so many jobs and to climb the tall, dark, and broody photographer who lives upstairs like a tree. When Archer sees the sexy young yoga instructor, he is intrigued. As a businessman, Archer understands working hard for what you want, and he respects that. But when a photograph taken at the Windsor leads to Crispin putting himself in danger, Archer steps in. Crispin may want a lot of things, but Archer knows what he needs - a Daddy to help lighten his load and keep him out of trouble.

This was a sweet story with a determined Crispin who wanted to make a success out of his dream to teach yoga and Archer who was a talented photographer and Daddy who wanted to help Crispin. I loved this story which showed how much Crispin needed help and how perfect Archer was to be that person. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BSDM-like Daddy/boy dynamic.

Review: Smoke Screen by Jacki James 4 of 5 stars

Smoke Screen

Smoke Screen by Jacki James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If there is one thing club owner Jesse Harris knows, it’s that his best friend’s little brother Andy Ward is totally off limits. Too bad the sexy firefighter would be the perfect boy for him. Jesse had long given up on finding a boy that fit into his life. Instead, he satisfied his need to take care of others by creating a safe space at his club for Daddies and boys alike to find each other. And that’s enough for him, at least that’s what he keeps telling himself.n And it was, until his best friend’s little brother showed up, looking hot as sin, and desperately needing a Daddy with a firm hand. Now he’s trying his best to think of Andy as Victor’s kid brother, not as the perfect boy for him. Andy’s job means he is physically strong, but he’s still a boy, and when he becomes the target of a serial arsonist, all Jesse’s protective instincts kick in. He’ll protect what’s his come hell or high water, and make no mistake about it, Andy is his, even if he doesn’t know it yet.

I loved this story as Jesse struggled and failed to see Andy as anything other than a sexy boy that he wanted. I loved Andy and the family he had at Station 69. The arsonist is definitely escalating and so I am looking forward to the next book in this series when we find out who and why.  I loved Andy and Jesse together and was relieved that Victor was supportive of their relationship. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and BDSM-like Daddy/boy dynamic.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Caleb's father’s best friend Keith is totally off limits. Too bad the sexy firefighter who also works in Station 69 is everything he ever wanted in a Daddy. Can Caleb handle a firefighter Daddy, or will he get burned?

This was a sweet Daddy story that had plenty of danger and drama for Keith and a lot of emotions for Caleb, Keith and his father as they all accepted the relationship. Lots of emotions and feelings in this story that were well described and easy to feel. This was a MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.

Review: Nash by Jacki James 4 of 5 stars

Nash (The Daddies of River Gorge #4)

Nash by Jacki James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Spencer knows he isn't boy material, so why can't he resist Nash Brooks? Nothing in Spencer's life has ever come easy, including romance. As a side with boundaries too many men have disrespected, he knows having a Daddy of his own isn't in the cards even if he craves someone to take care of him. When Nash pushes past his defences and promises to give Spencer everything he wants, it's hard to trust but impossible to resist because Nash is everything he ever wanted but never dared to hope for, but can he be the boy his Daddy deserves, or is he just holding him back?

This was a sweet story as Spencer learned to trust himself and Nash who wanted him no matter the conditions. I loved their supportive families who were there for them no matter what. It was also great to be in River Gorge catching up with the men and their boys again. I loved their relationship and the easy way that Nash accepted his limitations. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content with a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.

Review: Snowbody Loves Me by Jacki James 3 of 5 stars

Snowbody Loves Me (Christmas Falls #2)

Snowbody Loves Me by Jacki James
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Emerson was ditched at the airport just before a holiday to the Bahamas so on impulse hopped on a plane to Christmas Falls with no plan, no place to stay and nothing warm to wear. B&B owner Arlo hears him and rescues him with two days of accommodation until his scheduled guests arrive. The town and Arlo are both cute and both pull him in to stay longer. Through sleigh rides, ornament-making, and handling a winter storm that strands guests, the Gingerbread Cottage B&B, Christmas Falls, and more importantly Arlo begin to feel like home. Can Emerson and Arlo stay together?

This was a sweet story with the two men spending time together and learning more about each other and their bodies as they start to connect. I loved the joy of exploring the town together and the way that Emerson soon fit in helping Arlo do things for the B&B when necessary. I loved how Emerson's friends helped him see what was obvious just as Arlo's family did for him. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content.

Review: Suite Dreams: A Blue Collar Daddy/River Gorge Crossover by Jacki James 4 of 5 stars

Suite Dreams: A Blue Collar Daddy/River Gorge Crossover (Blue Collar Daddies)

Suite Dreams: A Blue Collar Daddy/River Gorge Crossover by Jacki James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Raffie Mills has loved horses his whole life, and he loves his job at the Blue Bird Ranch near River Gorge training horses. He just knows he needs to find the Daddy of his dreams but he can't imagine living elsewhere. When he wins a trip to Las Vegas for a Daddy weekend via Cuffd he jumps at the chance. Widower Gabriel Johnson never thought he would be ready to love again but when he takes a trip to Las Vegas to blow off some steam he meets a boy who makes him rethink everything about what he thought he knew about what he wants.

I loved this sweet story with the two men who had an immediate attraction. I loved the way that Gabe still sometimes talked to his dead husband and that his "advice" seemed to push him to be happy and start again. I loved the way that their relationship developed, that Gabe was determined to spoil Raffie in Vegas and that he couldn't stay away from him when they returned. I loved the way that it ended and that Raffie was mature enough to ensure that Gabe's late husband was still included in their lives via seasonal decorations. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.

Review: Gibson by Jacki James 3 of 5 stars

Gibson

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Tristan Aguilar is the Mayor of River Gorge and his best friend is the Veterinarian Gibson Carr. Tristan is keeping a big secret and he can't hide it from his best friend any longer - especially because in a moment of weakness he says "Thank you Daddy" to him. Gibson has dreamed of hearing them from him and now they have been said they can't be taken back. Mayor Tristan may have big plans for their small town, but Daddy Gibson has big plans for the mayor.

I enjoyed this story with the two friends who had wanted each other for years but never taken the first step to change their friendship in case it was lost. The careful way that Gibson took care of Tristan and made sure that he had what he needed was so sweet and definitely set him up for success. Easy to read, feel and understand this was an MM story with mature content around a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.

Review: Bear by Jacki James 3 of 5 stars

Bear (The Daddies of River Gorge Book 2)

Bear by Jacki James
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Ty Ingalls has been the go-to guy for his family and is often the same for everyone else and so everyone sees him as a big strong man. Then he meets Bear who incorrectly assumes that all they can have is friendship even though he needs to be in control and be the Daddy and is the first person to ever want to take care of Ty. Ty is caught up in what the world expects from him and can’t see himself as a boy... but Bear can. Will he be able to help Ty realize that the way everyone else sees him isn’t as important as the way he sees himself?

I enjoyed this story where Bear can clearly see that Ty needs a Daddy and that he will have to work hard to make him realise how true that is. It was interesting to see how easy it actually was to push back against Ty's family and friends from taking advantage of him and that he just needed to confidence to push back. I loved the way the story ended with them having their HEA in a way that appealed to them both. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is a MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB relationship.

Review: Cruz by Jacki James 3 of 5 stars

Cruz

Cruz by Jacki James
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Nolan Carter might be successful and wealthy, but he has lost himself along the way and so he retreats to the ranch he owns in Texas on a whim. When there he meets his new foreman Cruz Coban who is self-assured, comfortable in his skin, and commanding and wants to become Nolan's Daddy. Nolan has never had a Daddy before, but when Cruz takes the reins, Nolan feels accepted for who he is inside: a geeky boy who wants to be loved - but what will he decide about their future?

I enjoyed this story with the geeky lost boy Nolan and the confident rancher who needed his own boy to love and care for. I enjoyed the way that they met and the humour in that situation as well as Nolan's initial meeting with the cows lol It was nice to include some of the analysis of emotions and the way that Nolan thought in order to solve problems which were interesting to experience. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was a MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB relationship.

Kiss Me Like You Mean It (Working For It #1)

Kiss Me Like You Mean It by Jacki James
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Clay is straight but when a big investor says he will invest in his company if he brings his boyfriend to a Valentine's Day ski weekend he needs a solution quick. When Clay contacts Valentine's Inc. for a date for the weekend Trevor steps in when his best friend Cassie can't find anyone to do the job for her. As the weekend progresses the line between pretend and reality starts to blur for Clay and Trevor and Clay seems to be kissing Trevor like he means it.

I enjoyed this bi-awakening story as Clay realises that he is not as straight as he thought. I loved that they did their best to become friends before the weekend when they had to be a couple. The product that needed investment sounded wonderful. Easy to read, feel and understand I really felt at times that I was there with them. Contains mature content in this MM story.

Review: Trusting You, Trusting Me by Jacki James 4 of 5 stars

Trusting You, Trusting Me (Hart Security)

Trusting You, Trusting Me by Jacki James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ash Sutherland used to believe in true love and a HEA but after an attack, he has had therapy but is still skittish. He thinks getting a dog will help him. Vet Ezra had a life plan with a husband, a successful career and a couple of kids, but his price turned out to be a frog and he was left to try to cope with life as a single Dad. An instant attraction leads to a one-night stand but it turns into a regular thing. But can they learnt o trust each other or will secrets from the past destroy that trust that was so hard to build?

It was so lovely to read another story in the Hart Security world and for Ash to get some of his own happiness after watching those around him getting their own. Ezra was a lovely character and I really liked the way that they were able to fit into each other's lives fairly successfully. The secrets were sometimes large and sometimes just a silly thing to hide and just showed a lack of care to make sure that the other had a full picture of things. The twins Johnathan and Jacob were sweet and the big secret from the past for Ash was not as dramatic as I thought it was going to be. Easy to read, feel and understand there were several moments when I could have happily shaken one of them. An MM story with mature content.

Shielding the Superstar (Hart Security #2)

Shielding the Superstar by Jacki James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ryan Barnes is not a fan of country music but finds himself as the bodyguard of one of the most popular country musicians. Colton Montgomery has been a country music star for almost twenty years and seeing his retirement getting closer has finally come out as gay on his own terms. When strange gifts start appearing him Colton's apartment his manager insists he needs a bodyguard but he will only agree if he agrees to pretend to be his boyfriend. The more Ryan gets to know Colton the more he gets to like him and although Colton may be the one in physical danger, however, both men’s hearts are on the line.

I really enjoyed this story with the two men who over time just could not resist each other no matter what their intentions were. The mystery as to who was delivering gifts to Colton was interesting and the final result was a bit of a surprise to me. Easy to read, feel and understand this couple was a delight to experience. Review: Saving the Senator's Son by Jacki James 4 of 5 stars

Saving the Senator's Son (Hart Security, #1)

Saving the Senator's Son by Jacki James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Trey Coben has blond hair, blue eyes and a winning smile - the perfect All-American boy. He was raised to follow the rules and present a perfect public image - however, everything you see on display is a lie and is nothing like the real man. When ominous threatening letters start to arrive his right-wing Senator father hires Roman Barnes to protect him determined that nothing is going to derail his bed for re-election not even when his son's life is threatened. As the chemistry between Trey and his sexy bodyguard begins to ignite, Trey is faced with a choice: He can pretend to be the son his father wants, or he can take a chance at love. With their hearts and their lives on the line, will their love survive, or will it all go up in flames?

I loved this story with the tortured son who was not what he was having to present to the public, Roman who did everything he could to be professional but in the end, could not ignore the chemistry that was building between them both and the evil who was stalking Trey to reveal his secrets before he was ready. There were definitely moments of drama and danger, especially at the explosive ending of the story. I loved some of the side characters like the housekeeper at the Senator's house and Trey's best friend. Roman's family were wonderful and I think we would all like them to adopt us as part of them so we could all go there for "Linner". Easy to read, feel and understand. Review: Daddy Rules by Jacki James 4 of 5 stars

Daddy Rules (Breaking the Rules #6)

Daddy Rules by Jacki James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

River thought that a move to Autin was all he needed to find himself and figure out what to do with his life but he is tired of making decisions and messing things up. H needs someone to tell him what to do for a while. Blake has had enough and wants the real thing of someone to come home to every night, love and who will let him take care of them completely. Can a man who is new to dating men and being a Daddy sort out a man who is a hot mess with ADHD?

I enjoyed this story with the scatterbrained River and the organised and mildly controlling Blake. These stories prove to me time and time again that communication is key as it is always misunderstandings that cause a problem. River was adorable and you just wanted to hug him. Easy to read, feel and understand. This MM story contains mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB relationship.
