Mika, who has a history of running from trouble and an abusive ex, has built a safe life in Vesper, Texas. However, when his past catches up to him, he reluctantly turns to Duncan "Hawk" Hawkins for protection. Hawk, an ex-military bodyguard, is physically Mika's type but also embodies the kind of dominant man Mika has sworn to avoid due to past trauma. Despite his reservations, Mika finds Hawk to be different—protective, patient, and dedicated to keeping him safe. As Hawk teaches Mika self-defense, a strong attraction develops between them. Mika is faced with a critical choice: continue running from his dangerous ex or risk his heart by trusting Hawk and standing to fight for his safety and a potential future together.
I loved this story with the two men who were drawn together and the situation with Mika's ex. Lots of danger and drama as the two men became closer to each other. Easy to feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like Daddy/boy dynamic.
