The Star in Room 7

The Star in Room 7 by Colette Davison
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Zach finally reaches LA to chase his dream, but the reality is overwhelming and isolating. Offered temporary refuge at Halo House, he’s convinced he doesn’t deserve the help — until he meets Nate, a steady, nurturing protector who sees past Zach’s bravado and gives him space to let go. Their bond deepens as Zach begins to imagine a future where he can stop hiding, trust Nate, and build a new dream in his arms.

A wonderful hurt‑comfort story, this book shows Zach at his most vulnerable after a terrifying stalker shatters the safety of his home. The emotional fallout is raw and deeply felt, and I loved how Nate stepped in with steady, grounding support to help Zach cope with the violation he endured. Their dynamic is tender and nurturing, and the way their bond grows is full of emotion and authenticity. It was also lovely to see fellow Halo House resident Puck offering comfort and friendship when Zach needed it most. The whole journey is packed with feelings, good, painful, healing, and the ending, with Zach and Nate together as a couple, was incredibly satisfying. A beautifully emotional read that captures hurt, recovery, and connection. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like Daddy/boy dynamic with sensory play.
