Eight years after Kyle Jameson broke his heart and left, Gilbert Meyers finds Kyle renovating the shop right next door to his family's café. Forced into close proximity through construction mishaps and coffee-fueled fights, a regretful Kyle is determined to tear down their past walls and prove he's finally ready to win a second chance.
This second-chance romance was really a story about timing. Years ago, Kyle wasn’t ready to come out, and rather than live his life hidden in the closet, Gilbert moved on and built his own path. Now, they are forced back into the same vicinity as Kyle handles a local development project right next door to Gilbert’s family café, leading to a lot of friction and Gilbert lodging plenty of complaints. While the premise had great potential, I did find the constant, repetitive sniping between them a bit tedious to get through at times. However, I was very relieved when they finally stopped bickering, worked it all out, and acknowledged that the love they once shared was still very much alive. I was especially pleased to see Kyle finally embrace his truth, come out fully, and realised that he wouldn't lose his staff and friends in the process. A satisfying conclusion to a rocky road. This was an MM story with mature content.
