Review: Planet X by Evangeline Anderson 3 of 5 stars

Planet X Planet X by Evangeline Anderson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Bride-to-be Krisa Elyison has been bought and paid for by the elderly and pompous Lord Radisson who lives on another planet. Galactic criminal and prisoner Kurt Teague is a Feral - a proud and savage people who have an unparalleled will to survive and is fiercely possessive. The past has turned him into a ruthless killer and he is currently in the cargo hold of the starship which is taking her to her intended husband's planet. When Krista finds Teague he is blindfolded and chained to a wall. When she hears his deep gravely voice her heart jumps. When the ship crashes on an uncharted jungle planet she has little choice but to trust him with her life and more importantly her virginity. On a world filled with ravenous telepathic beasts and cannibalistic natives, Krisa discovers that the gorgeous and mysterious Teague may be the most dangerous animal of all.

This was a nice story that focused a lot on the jungle planet and the experiences of both of them whilst they were there as well the relationship between them. I did find the singular focus on her virginity a little wearing in the end although I did appreciate that it was her worth to her purchaser as well as her value to him. The events nearer the end of the story were very dramatic and if I didn't like Lord Radisson before I certainly didn't after his behaviour post finding her. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Mastering The Mistress by Evangeline Anderson 3 of 5 stars

Mastering The Mistress (Kindred Tales, #1)Mastering The Mistress by Evangeline Anderson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Havoc Solar M'Tex has followed the pattern of all other males in his rave and sworn to never bond himself to a female. So when he is captured and sold to a woman at the Flesh Bazaar as a body slave he knows he is definitely in trouble. Especially when he is bought by Kaylee who is new to planet Yonnie Six and has no idea that she needed a body slave until a new friend Lyla told her she needed one let alone what to do with him. When they are in her dungeon with all the equipment a Mistress could need to tame a new slave, Kaylee does her best but when Solar gets free of his restraints, the tables are turned. Will she escape from the male she dared to try and master... or will Solar end up Mastering the Mistress?

This is a sweet novella that contained a story about a girl who was new to an environment, trusted someone and the events that happened after that. I liked the way that Solar fought hard to resist her but failed in the end. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Reign of Shadows: A Slow Burn Paranormal Witch Romance by Veronica Shade by Leigh Anderson, by Rebecca Hamilton 5 of 5 stars

Reign of Shadows: A Slow Burn Paranormal Witch Romance (Academy of the Damned Book 6)Reign of Shadows: A Slow Burn Paranormal Witch Romance by Veronica Shade by
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Witch Madison and her group of friends are about to face the true source of Camille's power - a dark god called Marduk who intends to become the most powerful deity ever. Their hope to stop it all was their goddess Hectate but after a year of being captive by Marduk, she is very weak and only just alive. So Madison needs to conspire with Vampire's and locate a sacred plant in a last-ditch effort in order to bring Hectate back to consciousness. As she passes each obstacle one shattering truth becomes clear - in order to kill an immortal Madison will need some help from the other side of the veil. Time is running out, and the entire supernatural world is on the brink of destruction. To save the Soule family once and for all, Madison must come to terms with the past, battle through Hell itself, and make the ultimate sacrifice: her own soul.

OMG - this was an explosive finish to the series which took us on a rollercoaster through Hell, New Orleans and even the sewers as Madison did whatever she had to do to rid the supernatural world of the ultimate evil. Her friends were her rock throughout it all but they all went through some analysis of their relationship with each other. I loved the way Madison did everything she could to avoid killing but at the end did what was needed for the greater good even if she had to pay a huge personal cost. There were times when I was heartbroken but everything seemed to work out, even if I would have preferred a slightly different result. Well written and easy to read and understand.

Review: Curse of Stone by Veronica Shade by Leigh Anderson by Rebecca Hamilton 4 of 5 stars

Curse of Stone (Academy of the Damned, #1)Curse of Stone by Veronica Shade by  by
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Madison has done her best to avoid using her powers as a witch, but she is forced to use them as a deadly storm hits suddenly and she needs to save her best friend - however, it accidentally kills her boyfriend and so she is determined to go to La Voisin School for Young Witches in order to find out how to use her powers correctly (and safely). She knows being behind her classmates is going to be a struggle but she never expected that one of those would be the murder of one of her classmates. Her main thought is if the school is spelled for safety and witches are unable to kill, how did Giselle get murdered and by who? Madison resolves to find how it happened and who was responsible especially as Giselle is currently haunting her. Added to that mystery the biggest one seems to be related to the statues - if only she could ask them.

This was definitely a good book to start the series out as it laid out a lot of the background and key pieces of information that I'm sure will be expanded on as the story is enlarged on in subsequent books. I liked the crazy dynamic between Madison and her mother which could be recognisable by some families even if it didn't involve drugs. Well written, it was easy to understand and I felt invested in Madison and her current car crash of a life. The next instalment will hopefully expand on the key elements of the story as well as introduce new ones.

Review: Deal with the Devil by Evangeline Anderson 4 of 5 stars

Deal with the DevilDeal with the Devil by Evangeline Anderson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wolf shifter Luz Velez has a problem - she can't shift. When she tries she has a panic attack as she does for many other aspects of normal life - sex, exams, etc. She is miserable and living an empty life until a tall, blonde and dangerous vampire called Jude Jacobson arrives. As soon as he sees Luz he wants her even though vampires are shifters don't date he makes her an offer she can't refuse - a blood exchange that will help control her panic attacks and give her the life she has always wanted.
Desperate she takes Jude up on his offer although what she doesn't expect is to fall for him nor to be in sudden danger from her past when she finally shifts like a normal shifter. As both their dark secrets become clear, can she accept the deal she made with the devil and make it together with Jude or will she die trying?

This was a nice romance story between a shifter and a vampire that was full of drama, danger and action as everything became clear on both her past and Jude's. Well written, it was easy to understand and feel the thoughts and emotions of the characters. A very enjoyable shifter story. Contains sexual content.

Review: Dangerous Cravings by Evangeline Anderson 5 of 5 stars

Dangerous Cravings (Dangerous Cravings, #1)Dangerous Cravings by Evangeline Anderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Homicide detective Alex Reed is fierce, intelligent and tougher than any of the men in her department, but by night she explores her darker side writing highly erotic BDSM novels under the pen name Victoria Tarlatan. Homicide Detective Cole Berkley is Alex's longtime partner and best friend - he also has no idea about her craving to be mastered nor about her writing. A serial killer is transforming what he views as wicked women into works of erotic art. His hapless victims are found tied to the bed in classic bondage poses, strangled and tortured in unspeakable ways. In order to crack the case, Alex and Cole are going to have to go undercover within the BDSM community as a master and his slave. The question is can Alex keep her secret desires hidden and can Cole handle the change in a partner that he perceives as tough and hard into a woman with deeply erotic needs? Any friction this all causes between them will become the least of their worries as the killer has a list of intended victims and Victoria Tarlatan is next on that list. Can Alex survive or will she pay with her life?

I liked this story which was a mixture between a murder mystery story, a story of the relationship between Alex and Cole, with a fairly healthy-sized dose about the BDSM lifestyle. I really enjoyed the story which was really good at describing their relationship and how it was developing as well as how it changed as they got further into the murder mystery that they were investigating. Well written and easy to read I found it a good story to read. Contains explicit sexual descriptions as well as intimate details of the BDSM lifestyle. Definitely a book only for those who are older than 18 years old.

Review: Alien Mate Index: Volume One by Evangeline Anderson 4 of 5 stars

Alien Mate Index: Volume One (Alien Mate Index #1-4)Alien Mate Index: Volume One by Evangeline Anderson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a great boxset of a four-book series. It does contain graphic sexual content.

#1 - Claimed 5*

Very well written book which was very enjoyable to read

This is a very well written book which describes everything in great detail. I found this book addictive so I just know I will be going on to read the whole series. I loved the level of detail about the rituals and thought it added to the story. I did find it a little annoying as the determination to eave went a little too far, but overall I loved the book. Heartily recommended.

#2 - Protected 4*

Alien half-breed Grav N’gol has a past where he was a murderer and ex-convict. He is now a Protector which is much more than a bodyguard as a Protector chooses a female to ward for life and swears an oath to die for her if necessary. He currently has a simple job to do surveillance on an Earth female called Leah Roth - however, when he checks on her he sees something that just enrages him - her abusive husband is hurting her so he swings into action and without thinking he has Leah on his spaceship, so when he gets a difficult and dangerous mission she volunteers to come along and help…and somehow Grav can’t say no. He is drawn to her (as she is to him) but he knows it can never be between them due to his past that would turn her completely against him. He knows that from his past and from his true nature Leah must be... Protected at all costs.

This was a great story. It had lots of drama, danger and action which the characters skillfully navigated through. It was easy to find both Grav and Leah engaging and start to hope for certain events at the end of the story. It was easy to read and understand. Contains graphic sexual content.

#3 - Descended 4*

Medical intern Charlotte Walker is just trying to get through her surgical rotation in one piece when life takes a weird turn - a seven-foot-tall patient with multicoloured eyes and golden skin shows up with a stab wound and she is convinced he is either crazy or high on drugs. However, Kristoff Verrai is not - he is actually the Captain of the Imperial Guard of the Goddess-Empress of the galaxy. The latest one is now dead and he is charged with finding her replacement - and it appears to be Charlotte. She is in danger and he is sworn to protect her, especially until she can travel to ascend the throne. He doesn't mean to fall in love with her because a relationship between them can never be--the Empress must have a Consort with Royal blood and Kristoff is just a commoner. Can they fight the love growing between them? Or will it overwhelm them?

This was a sweet story about love and how sometimes it just cannot be denied because it just cannot be wrong when it is so strong and pure. I liked the sections about corruption in the court and the resolution for them. Well written it was easy to understand and feel with the characters in the story. Contains explicit descriptions of sexual actions.

#4 - Severed 4*

Paralegal Rylee Hale is finding it hard starting her own business as she struggles to attract new clients. Denarins Drace and Lucian belong to a race where to males bond together and then bond with a single woman who they share and care of in every way. Normally it is an Alpha and a Beta who bond together but Drace and Lucian are both Alphas and from opposing clans so when they accidentally bond together so they try to find a Pure One from Earth as allegedly she can break the bond between them. They decide that Rylee is the right girl for them and so they abduct her from Earth determined to break their bond. Fortunately, Rylee is more than capable of looking after herself. The question is, once she gets a taste of being bonded to two sexy men who want to please her in every way, will she be able to stand by and watch them be… Severed?

This was an involved story which has many twists and turns as they traversed the pitfalls and realities of the situation they all found themselves in. Drace and Lucian were very honourable in general and only ever tried to do right by Rylee even if sometimes they failed at their aim. I loved the premise of the story and the way it developed although it did become rather irritating at times - especially the sections involving their families. Without giving anything away I was thrilled at the way the story ended. Well written and very enjoyable. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: The Vampire's Daughter by Leigh Anderson 4 of 5 stars

The Vampire's Daughter The Vampire's Daughter by Leigh Anderson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ethan discovers that Victoria (his childhood best friend and the love of his life) is the daughter of a Vampire and is to marry a someone else to save her family so distraught he travels to a monastery to live in peace and contemplation with his broken heart. However instead he is asked to lead Dom Calmet the famous vampire hunter to his village to get rid of the vampires that plague it. Can Ethan work out whether to choose love or faith when he is back near Victoria again?

This story is a really heady mix of a whole host of cliches with a medieval village, a girl who has no idea what she really is, a journey, a lot of tortured thinking and enough drama to keep you going for ages. I'm tempted to suggest you with either love it or it will be too heavy and complicated and will not enjoy it. I would suggest you give it a try and persevere as if you can get a certain amount through the story you will enjoy it. The writing was good and I could understand everything, but the thoughts and emotions were a little over tortured in places.

Abducted Abducted by Evangeline Anderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Zoe McKinley is dragged through a mirror and abducted onto a spaceship and sold to a large alien male called Sarden who reminds her of the devil (even though he is hot). Even worse the food-sim makes disgusting tasting food and she is given clothes that barely cover anything. Then in a contrary move she realises she might be falling for him.

I loved this story. It was fun to read and I could really relate to Zoe and all the events she was going through. Great start to the series of books and if it is a taste of what is to come then I'll definitely be reading more of them.

Great second book in the series

This is book 2 of the series and I enjoyed it as much as I did the first one. Very hot and steamy, but it was all needed as part of the story. Now I need to read the next part as I want to know what happens next. It leaves me however with the burning question - how do I get one of these guys down here for me????
