Review: Traitor by Charity Parkerson 4 of 5 stars

Traitor

Traitor by Charity Parkerson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Crisp, long stuck in the background of Killers Inc., finally snaps after DNA results leave him feeling like an outsider. While everyone thinks he’s hiding out to recover, he’s actually in Hawaii with a man he may have accidentally kidnapped — a “rescue” in his mind. As more of the family starts catching on and his volatile guest remains a danger, Crisp knows it’s only a matter of time before everything blows up.

I loved the undeniable connection between Crisp and Jay — it was clear in every interaction, especially in the great care Crisp took with him. Their shared background made it easy for them to understand each other in ways no one else could, and that gave their bond real depth. I did feel like a few moments were missing, especially their wedding day and the point where their relationship became more physical, but the emotional core of the story still shone through. The final family confrontation was one of my favourite parts. Watching them express their thoughts and feelings, despite being raised to suppress emotion, was powerful and satisfying. A story full of emotion, connection, and care, with two men learning they’re allowed to feel and to be loved. This was an MM story with mature content.
