My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Remi, a sheltered dawn‑mage forced into a political marriage, is taken from his abbey to wed a stranger and hopes his new husband won’t exploit him or his magic. Stefan, dragged home to serve another of his father’s schemes, believes Remi is a beautiful but deceptive pawn meant to manipulate him. Determined not to fall for it, he vows to keep his distance — even as resisting Remi becomes increasingly impossible.
I really enjoyed how their immediate attraction kept working against their shared determination to avoid sleeping together. That tension made every glance and hesitation feel charged. It also became clear that both men were caught in the middle of other people’s plots, some of whom seemed almost determined to push them together whether they liked it or not. There were strong moments of danger and drama, and the emotional undercurrents ran through the whole story as they tried to navigate trust, desire, and the political games surrounding them. The mix of feelings, uncertainty, and rising stakes kept the relationship compelling from start to finish. This was an MM story with mature content.
