Review: Jackson by Aja Foxx 3 of 5 stars

Jackson

Jackson by Aja Foxx
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Jackson’s brief but intense connection with Cruz turns life‑changing when he discovers he’s pregnant, forcing him to confront his identity as an omega and the danger threatening Black Butte Ranch. For Cruz, the bond was immediate. Returning from a mission to find Jackson carrying his child transforms everything, pushing him to prove their connection and keep Jackson safe while uncovering who is targeting the ranch. Together, they face identity shifts, rising threats, and a growing bond neither can ignore.

This book had so much promise, but for me it ultimately under‑delivered, especially when it came to Jackson and Cruz. Their bond never felt fully committed — the vague, almost obscure phrasing they used left me without any real sense that they’d chosen to stay together, which was disappointing given the emotional setup. I did enjoy the danger and drama surrounding the attacks on Black Butte Ranch, but I was confused about why the later attacks targeted Jackson’s home rather than the main house. A few other details also felt unclear:

- where the farm hand brothers were during the attacks
- when the back door was actually repaired
- why Cruz suddenly became sick
- why only now did Sterling become pregnant

Those loose threads pulled me out of the story at times. There were strong elements here — tension, action, and the potential for a powerful emotional arc — but the execution left me wanting more clarity, more connection, and more certainty in the relationship. This was an MM story with mature content and set in the omegaverse with MPREG.
