This instalment pushed the wider mystery forward nicely — the coven and the team were closer to uncovering what’s happening to the missing witches, and it felt like fate that Chase and Rhys met at the exact moment Chase was trying to free him. I especially loved all the doubts swirling in Rhys’s head despite their bond; it made him far more relatable and grounded, especially with everything he’d endured. The coven came across as ruthless, disturbingly willing to sacrifice Rhys’s magic without hesitation, which added real tension to the plot. There were plenty of emotions and feelings throughout, all clearly written, even if the fast pace kept them moving quickly. A strong, engaging addition to the series. This was an MM story with mature content.

I really liked the way this book ran parallel stories — the tense investigation into witches being killed alongside the deeply personal journey of Sam and Mark’s relationship, their mate bond, and their familiar connection. The contrast between the professional danger and their emotional struggle made the story feel layered and engaging. Part of me understood Sam’s hurt, but part of me felt he was being quite selfish, especially given how powerful their bond was. There was plenty of danger and drama, especially once Mark became the focus of an attack, which raised the stakes in a meaningful way. The whole book was full of emotions and feelings, with Sam wrestling his heart and Mark doing everything he could to understand. It’s a story where the external threat and the internal conflict mirror each other, creating a deeply emotional journey around Sam and Mark. This was an MM story with mature content.

They worked side by side, accepting help when they needed it, which made their growing relationship feel grounded and earned. The emotional weight was strong throughout, especially with Kit’s devastating loss and everything he was trying to survive. Errol’s ability to talk to animals added such warmth and charm, and the way the animals helped him was one of my favourite parts. A story full of feelings, healing, and a connection that was always meant to be. This was an MM story with mature content.

I appreciated how the tension kept building, and there were plenty of emotions and feelings woven throughout as the mystery deepened and their bond grew under pressure. A slow start, but ultimately an enjoyable, dramatic read once the momentum kicked in. This was an MM story with mature content.

I loved the unexpected intensity of that single kiss and how it instantly bound Jude and Rob together, even though neither of them was happy about it at first. Their reluctant connection made the unfolding relationship feel wonderfully tense and compelling. The mysterious creature was a great adversary, and I really enjoyed that it took both of their strengths (Jude’s magic and Rob’s shifter instincts) to take it down. The investigation had a smart, engaging feel to it. The politics within Jude’s coven added another intriguing layer, hinting that something deeper might be at play beyond the creature attacks. With danger, drama, and plenty of emotion, this story delivered a satisfying mix of paranormal tension and growing affection between two reluctant mates. This was an MM story with mature content.
