Sea Dragon's Hunger by Rebecca Rivard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Cassidy O’Byrne is an Irish shifter and one hot summer she had fallen in love with visiting shifter Nic do Rio. However he had a big secret so ended up leaving her behind. However she then discovered she was pregnant and so she gives birth to her daughter Rianna in Ireland and was determined to bring her up alone. Three years later Cassidy is running with their daughter from the Fae so she heads for the only man she thinks can save them - Nic. He never thought he would see her again and is shocked to discover he has a child - now he'll do everything he can to keep Cassidy and Rianna safe and at the same time convince her to give him a second chance.
What a great story. It had all the necessary ingredients of a not shifter man, misunderstandings, hurt, danger and fighting for a new beginning. It was quite addictive as I got further into the story and the danger was building I was really rooting for Nic and Cassidy to be safe and find the happiness that so deserved. Well written it was really enjoyable and worth reading whether you are into the Fada Shapeshifters or Bad Alpha Dads.

Review: Tray by J.M. Walker 5 of 5 stars
Tray by J.M. Walker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Tray is a loner and tortured from his childhood and past life but when he walks into the garage run by a rival MCs president he sees Zillah he feels a connection and has to ignore all the warnings in his head and get to know her. From Zillah's POV one look at she can't look away from him. Can the loner bad boy biker and the protected president's daughter have the time to build the kind of relationship they want or will the different MC gangs keep them apart? When a long term club member tries to take matters into his own hands will everyone survive?
There was danger and drama from the start to the finish in this book. I loved the way their relationship developed and the twists and turns in this story which were not predictable and came as a surprise to me. The relationship between Tray and Zillah was very special and I loved the way it developed over time. Definitely a story to pull at the heart strings and wish we all had our own Tray to love us that much. Well written thought this one was probably better than the previous book in the series and I loved the ending.

Review: ' Footsteps in the Attic 'by James P. Usavage 3 of 5 stars
' Footsteps in the Attic ' by James P. Usavage
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
John works in an office with Rita and after a few dates starts to feel that they have something special. However she has a special talent that it appears that others want to take advantage of so when she disappears he decides he has to find and rescue her. So together with his brother Ernie he sets off on an epic adventure following leads across the country - can they find and rescue her and why has she been taken?
The book is an intriguing mixture of a mystery, a horror, a paranormal and a thriller as you follow mainly John but sometimes Rita during this dramatic story. At times I got irritated with John in his determination and obsession in finding and rescuing Rita so that sometimes I wondered if he was a stalker or mentally ill. However I stuck with the story and it then became more dramatic and mysterious as the reasons Rita was abducted became clear and your realised what was really at stake. Parts of the story definitely make you wonder what if that really were to happen. Enjoyable read if you accept that John is more than a little obsessed and run with it.

Review: Refrain: A Vampire Blood Courtesan Romance by Susan Griscom by Michelle Fox 4 of 5 stars
Refrain: A Vampire Blood Courtesan Romance by Susan Griscom by Michelle Fox

Neriza's life went into a tailspin when a car accident leaves her with no parents, a sister who is severely injured and completely poverty stricken. Then she sees an advert in the paper and a solution seems clear to her - become a Blood Courtesan. However her first client is her teen idol pop star Lyric Rivers and bizarrely he doesn't want anything to do with her after paying for her. Then things take a turn for the worst when her father's misdeeds come to haunt her putting them all in danger. Can she solve the problem left my her Dad, make Lyric want her and keep her heart intact?
This is a great addition to the Blood Courtesans series of books and had a few really great twists in the story that you won't see coming (I certainly didn't). I loved the way it built up and the anticipation of how great things could and hopefully would be between Neriza and Lyric. Well told and described it was easy to pick up the thoughts and emotions of the characters involved in the story and get involved in their story.

The Lost Centurion by Monica La Porta
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Marcus is made into an immortal by Apollo and after travelling lots is back in Rome to find and kill the vampire who killed his wife. We then read through a series of situations that contain examples of the emotions of revenge, an analysis of what really is the truth as opposed to hearsay and revenge (does it really make you feel good?) I loved the depth of the characters and how they managed all these uncertainties. The romance in the story was well written and enjoyable without being to sweet and cloying. An enjoyable story that was a great introduction to this series.

The Witch, The Wolf and The Vampire by A.K. Michaels 5*
Peri is on the run from her parents. She left when she was 15 and although she is a witch she limits the magic she uses because it could be used to find her and she has never been taught so is very limited in what she can do. Now 21 she has been living on her wits on the streets and has recently been earning cash as a bounty hunter eating when she can. When one of these goes wrong she is helped by a shifter and a vampire (Gabe and Josef) who are then captivated by her and have a need to make her theirs. A great read containing some steamy scenes and had me captivated and wanting to know more.

Zane by Elaine Barris 5*
Zane is a vampire and knows that author London (Lindy Beck) is his. She writes books about hot vampires and all the sexy and erotic things they do - but it is all made up she has no idea what the real world is like for vampires. He sees it as his mission to a) make her his and b) show her exactly how it is for them (and boy is it hot!!). Well written and easy to read you will race through this one as you get more and more into the story.
Fury by Julia Mills 5*
Dragon and seer Fury MacTavish has chosen to live in solitude even though he is always there for his fellow dragons if they need his advice or even help. Then he starts to have visions of a red haired woman who is his mate and he know he HAS to find her. So he asks his clan to keep and eye on his home while he searches for her. Red haired Pippa Sparks is convinced she is insane as she keeps having visions of a man who turns into a dragon (like that is possible). She is shocked to suddenly come across a man who turns into a dragon just like her visions - even more he says she is his mate and he will do anything (including dying in order to protect her. There is an evil demon trying to get her powers (that were mostly hidden) and they have to join forces to defeat him as their powers complement each other. A great story with lots of drama, danger and excitement. I love Pippa who was smart, had a huge heart and was very sassy - Fury is gong to have great fun. Great story that I really enjoyed!

Hidden by Night by Jada Storm by Emma Stark
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
In this third instalment of the series Ace and her guys develop further into their personalities and skills as she gets used to what she can do and the supernatural world around her. We also learnt more about the history behind them all as well as hints of what might happen in the next book in the series. Sometimes a third book in a series can be a bit tired as the main events might have already happened but in this book there was still plenty happening that moved the story on while staying true to the characters we already know and love. I really enjoyed that it was all about friendship, love and relationships and not just sex that many RH stories seem to focus on. Very enjoyable story.

Review: Catalyst by Isadora Brown 4 of 5 stars
Catalyst by Isadora Brown
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The story continues with the three streams of the story building to an ending with several twists that set up te story nicely for the next (and final) book in the series. Keirah works in the asylum where Noir is cleaning floors but when she is called up to the floor she is not allowed t enter she sees him chained up there - she isn't supposed to love him but she does and so now fate has put them together again she is not going to argue with it. Reese and Andie are trying to track Keirah down to rescue her from Noir but this time she doesn't want to be found and nor does she want to be rescued. Black Wing is also in danger - the persistent DA is determined to find him and stop him. How will it all end?
Well there were a lot of developments with twists and turns in the story. It can be a little difficult to read as the three streams weave their way through the story but I'm sure in the final part of the series it will all come together and make complete sense. I liked the way it all connected back to various mythological streams whether they were Christian or Ancient Greek. Generally well written I just found some parts of the story a little hard to work out due to the different story-lines intersecting.

Paulie Zahn Vampire Huntress by E.M. Sørensen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Sargent Paulie Zahn wakes up in a hospital to the news that a rogue vampire has bitten her. She then experiences all sorts of changes to her senses and abilities. Her employer allocates her a mentor who has been a vampire for over 70 years and is trying to teach her how to live without feeding off humans. However as she appears to have become a strange hybrid between a vampire and a human she becomes a hot property were different vampire groups start to battle to control her plus she is firmly on the radar of the vampire Council of Elders. Can she learn to navigate the new situation she finds herself in while using all her skills to take down the bad guys?
I loved this story - it kept me gripped as we went through all the trials and tribulations that Paulie had to handle. She is a great example of a strong woman and how she can get help and become part of a community while also staying in control and being true to herself. The story was well told and contained lots of detailed descriptions of the events that Paulie was involved in. It was well told and I definitely felt that I was there going through everything that she did. All the thoughts and emotions were clear and easy to pick up. Definitely a story that is hard to put down.

Pandemonium by Sean Farley
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Jackson Armstrong is a gambling addict with just 2 advantages in life - an amazing memory and a young son who loves him no matter what happens. However life suddenly changes for him when he is killed in a car accident and finds himself in the strange world of Pandemonium where demons rule and he is trapped in a dystopian world. Then he starts to have visions that convince him that he will get back home to his son and he forms an alliance with the demon called Lilith. Can they stay in front of the evil that is older than time itself which is chasing them through the brutal world they are in?
This story had a lot of promise that it didn't completely live up to. I liked the overall premise of the story and it could have been a great story, but it lost its way a little and got stuck on the brutality of the world they were travelling across. Definitely a hybrid horror/fantasy story that is quite deep in places with the analysis of relationships and motivations of the characters. There are definitely some twists and turns in the story that added to the enjoyment of it.

Falling for Gods: A Reverse Harem Urban Fantasy by Eva Chase
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Aria Watson is a Valkyrie and as her powers grow she becomes closer to her four gods in their home of Asgard. Her hopes of a quiet life and time to enjoy their company is not likely as the power hungry giant Surt is determined to take over the world and Odin seems to have become fatalistic about how this whole situation will end. Ari and her gods have many battles and negotiations with the different parties involved in the conflict. Will they succeed so she can have the quiet life she would quite like to have or will something happen to change things?
Wow - lots of danger and drama in this instalment of the series. I loved the way Ari's relationship with the gods was developing and how they were all having distinct features in how their personalities developed and matched. Ari became a strong woman and who knew what she wanted and went for it in this book no matter who she needed to talk to to get it. I loved the way she was able to persuade all the different people to see her way of thinking and adapt to the situations she found herself in. The knowledge of mythology and the gods involved by the author was very detailed and all that knowledge made this book and the rest of the series very rich and full of detail. Well written it was easy to understand and fell the frustrations, thoughts and emotions of the characters.

Vazdrag: Silver Tears Book 3 by Daniel J. Strait
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Nakiata, Ka'tia, and Dravone left Zondura via a black door with hopes that they can progress the prophesy. They then find themselves in a maze that appears to have no end. The three members of the prophesy go through many trials and dangers as they search of clues on Vazdrag.
This instalment of the series was just as dramatic with lots of danger and emotions involved in all the complications they encountered. It seemed to become a little more like a story set in space then the previous books in the series although there were still a number of fantastical creatures living in the various locations they explored. It was nice to see Ka'tia develop her magical skills more and she definitely came into her role as an essential member of the prophesy. I could see that they is definitely the makings of a love triangle there and someone is going to be hurt - I'm just not clear on who that will be at the end of this epic story. Well written, everything was very clear and easy to understand. The story ended with the members of the prophesy going into another black door so they next instalment will be set somewhere else. I'm looking forward to finding out what they will find there.

Dragon His Heels by Tami Lund
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Gabe is the reluctant leader of his dragon clan and Talia his long suffering PR manager is constantly sorting out his messes. However this latest one results in her introducing him to his daughter and telling him he has got to finally grow up - however it backfires on her slightly when he insists she has to move in with him and help him with this new job he has. However it gets complicated when he seems to break or not be limited by an old curse and discovers that Talia is his fated mate - something he has no intention of acting upon - if only he can control himself.
This is a nice short read but is packed full of drama and emotion as Gabe and Talia cope with the events that occur after she brings home his daughter, I loved the way the story of the fated mates and the daughter were seamlessly sewn together into a story that contained passion, drama, danger and lots of emotion. The story was sensitively told even though it correctly described the internal fight Gabe was having with his dragon over the fated mate issue. A great read that I really enjoyed.

**** Warning - this will contain a first person view of depression and subsequent suicide - do not buy this book if you feel it is going to distress you ****
Shari Jensen is an ordinary woman with a deep depression. This story describes her thoughts, emotions, experiences and actions as she works through the depression and what she feels is the only way to escape the pain she is experiencing. If nothing else it will remind you that being busy and putting off friends might not be a good idea. It also reminds us to cherish those in our lives, to take action to make sure they know that you care. A very sobering read that will definitely make you think. Well written - this book is nothing like the author's usual book genre but is a great reminder to stop this happening to all of our loved ones by taking an interest and taking notice of the signs the character has shown.

Nike is a firefighter and goes to the goth club Vamps to have a night of excitement after some hard days at work. However when there she spots the guy she lusts after at the rock climbing gym. Michel has a dark side and is connected to a world she never knew existed. When things go south at the club Nike's life is threatened and she has to decide whether to go with Michel and be safe. However it is is not easy to find a solution that stops her being burnt or even sucked dry by a vampire. Can she survive the club that attracts supernatural creatures?
This is a fun novella where Nike and Michel share their worlds together as they battled for survival. The writing was good although being a novella everything moved quite quickly which gave it a rushed feeling at times. As an introduction it was good to set off the series and so the next one will hopefully contain as much excitement and action as this one. A fun light paranormal romance.

Colin Fisher is a wizard and is the personal wizard to a powerful CEO. He has been busy with this skill from stopping a demon pact wizard to killing a relentless ice demon, but he still has one thing outstanding - what happened to his fiancee after he gained his magic? Now he has to pay his highest price ever as he tries to peel back layers of time and solve an enigma - problem is if he does do that he may never wake up from his current coma. Battling to keep him sage are two woman who both love him - a demon blooded assassin called Veruca Wakefield and an FBI Agent called Andrea Deveraux - however can these love rivals work together to save Colin?
This is the third book in the series and I think it would add a bit more if you had read the previous books before this one - so don't start in the middle of the series. It was a good story and I liked the way the modern knights linked into knights we all should know about from history. It was also nice to see that whilst Colin is a wizard he didn't really do any magic in the story and it seemed to be a story that focused on history and what had happened in the past (mostly). I liked the love "triangle" between the two women who loved him and how they grew to respect each other during their fight to keep Colin alive. The story was well written and easy to understand. An enjoyable book that was a good read.

Review: The Forever Girl by Rebecca Hamilton 4 of 5 stars
The Forever Girl by Rebecca Hamilton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Sophia Parsons is 22 and a practising Wiccan. She works as a waitress and is a local outcast under the suspicion of involvement in local murders (which she was not) but all she cares about is stopping a static she hears all of the time. She tries to stop it with a spell but it changes to be voices instead (which is even more distracting). She meets a new friend called Charles and falls for him as he starts to help her investigate the hanging of her ancestor. She soon discovers that her survival depends on not asking too many questions and staying off the radar of the council of immortals however it seems she crossed that a long time ago so in order to survive and keep those she loves safe she will have to embrace her true nature and perform some dark magic as part of a fight to the death.
This is a mixed story - some of it is great and I really enjoyed it, but some of it was a bit tedious and felt like too much of an aside. I know that it was necessary background of her ancestor and the events that happened but in parts it was a bit long and I got a bit bored - I think it could have been a bit shorter and so kept my attention better. On the whole it was well written and a very enjoyable story. I was certainly pulling for Sophia and Charles and desperately hoping they would succeed and find a way to be together forever.
