Review: The Wounded Mountain Man by Casey Cox 3 of 5 stars

The Wounded Mountain Man

The Wounded Mountain Man by Casey Cox
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When a training accident ends Wade's military career before it properly begins, he's lost with no clue what to do next. After wallowing in self-pity for a year, he finally return to the small mountain town he grew up in. When he shows up on his best friend's doorstep unannounced, broke, and smelly after two days of hitchhiking, Logan takes him in and makes him feel like he's not a total loser. They quickly fall back into their usual rhythm, and it's like they were never apart. Spending time with him reignites a flame that refuses to burn out. That they could be more than just friends. Even if he left no room at graduation for anything else to develop. Wade arriving unexpectedly is a surprise, but it's something Logan's ASD brain can process and manage. Catching a close-up of his wet, glistening body as he steps out of the bathroom without a towel? Uh, that's another thing entirely. He'd carved out a simple, quiet life for himself in the mountains. Being on the spectrum he's super organised, have a strong attention to detail, and am routine-oriented has made a love life nonexistent. It's got nothing to do with his feelings for Wade. He realised he was in love with Wade in high school, but he made a mess of things at graduation. Now that he's back, maybe he can make up for that mistake? And if he can, maybe he'll stay for good.

This was a sweet story of old friends reconnecting and having a second chance at love. I loved the veterans and how welcoming they all were. Lots of emotions and feelings in this story. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: A Match Made In Evan by Anna Sparrows 3 of 5 stars

A Match Made In Evan

A Match Made In Evan by Anna Sparrows
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

James Durant considers himself a great dad. His teenaged daughter, Mia, is his entire world and he will do almost anything to help her achieve her dreams. Somehow, that includes asking his best friend to be his pretend fiancé to boost her chances at getting into an exclusive private school and the drama program she so desperately wants to enrol in. No, he’s still not sure he follows that logic himself, but he’ll do it for Mia. Unfortunately, James underestimates just how much work is involved in maintaining a fake relationship…or that it might bring up old feelings he buried long ago. Having known James since they were kids, Evan Bernardi will do almost anything for him. So, pretending to be in a relationship isn’t a hardship. After all, they’re so close that there’s very little pretending involved. They’re well matched as best friends, and they know each other inside and out. But when one thing leads to another, and their fake relationship begins to feel more real than pretend, Evan and James have some choices to make. If only life would stop throwing them curve balls.

This was a sweet story that had some amusing moments which verged on being crazy at times. I loved Mia and Evan was fun at times but I did find James annoying most of the time. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

After meeting pilot Kylen during a flight home, single dad Dallas doesn’t hesitate to help him out by pretending to be his boyfriend. But when they finally share a bed during a stormy night, he realises their fake relationship could be more than a fleeting fantasy.

I loved this very emotional story with two men who fell in love while supporting each other through their own problems. Kylen's family were just hateful and undeserving of him or his time. I loved how supportive the single Dads club men were of them both. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: His Bane by Courtney W. Dixon 4 of 5 stars

His Bane

His Bane by Courtney W. Dixon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Some people call Sullivan Beauchamp a monster. A psychopath. As if he cares what others think. So what if he relishes in the mayhem of slaughter or enjoy feeling the life blink out of someone? It was Malik who eventually brought him to his home and trained him to hone his skills to work under him as an assassin. Malik Amin is his equal, and he will be his in all ways as soon as he can chip away at his ridiculous and completely unnecessary self-loathing. Sully lost everything as a teenager on Malik Amin's order. When he found him covered in blood four years later, he should have put him down, knowing what he was. Instead, he took him in to train him. It works for them until he wants Malik more than as a mentor. He cannot allow it. But if Sully is anything, he is a master at persuasiveness and discovering his weaknesses.

I loved this dark story as the two assassins loved each other from afar until finally Sully broke through Malik's defences. Lots of angst, violence, thoughts and feelings in this story. This was an MM story with mature content.

His Death Bringer

His Death Bringer by Courtney W. Dixon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dante is Luca Davenport's angel, sent to be his death bringer to save him from his tormentors and betrayers - those who sold him into slavery when he was only eight years old. Angel came in with guns blazing and black wings that were made to crush his enemies and envelope Luca in love. Dante belongs to him and he belongs to Dante. We are destined. After he saves him from his captors, they hunt down the remaining men who had abused him for eleven years to make them pay in blood. Luca is a broken boy of no more than nineteen. He sees Dante Varga as an angel, but he's simply a killer. An assassin for hire. He can’t save him. He can’t take care of him. There’s no room left in his dying soul to care about someone. Not anymore. But he can’t turn him away either. He should kill him. He’s a witness. But Dante feels compelled to protect him at all costs. Saving him will either shatter the ice around his heart or destroy him. Either way, Luca is dangerous.

I loved the story of Luca who was so abused and neglected and his saviour Dante who was also broken after his own story of neglect. A powerful read. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Resisting You

Resisting You by E.M. Lindsey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Frey’s a single dad, a nurse, and ready to wage a one-sided prank war against the arrogant surgeon with the sexy accent he keeps getting paired up with. And while there might be more to Dr. Renato Agosti, Frey isn’t sure he wants to feel anything but hatred for the man who said his biggest accomplishment was that he never met a resident he couldn’t make cry. But everything changes the day Frey’s pranks go too far, and Renato corners him behind closed doors. In a series of bad decisions, hate turns into something else - something forbidden and delicious and it doesn’t take long before Frey realises the fine line between hate and love has started to blur. Frey’s not sure he has room in his life for something complicated with a man who doesn’t know what he wants, though. He has a son to worry about, and a future to figure out. Still, the more Frey and Renato keep sneaking around, the more Frey starts to realise his feelings might be real. He just needs to figure out if resisting Renato is worth the pain, or if loving him is worth the cost.

I loved this story of the two men who proved that the line between love and hate was extremely close and that given the chance one could turn into the other. I loved this Renato included Frey's son Rex. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

When Dane Foley's political opponent targets the Senator in a mudslinging campaign, he needs the help of his estranged stepson, Adam Daley, who works for a PR firm. But when they finally reunite after three years, sparks fly. Can they keep things professional to clear Dane's name in time, or will they sacrifice everything to be together as they always wanted?

I enjoyed this novella of the taboo relationship between an US Senator and his stepson. There was some high level discussion of thoughts, feelings and emotions but could have been far more detailed. Easy to and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Comforting the Grump

Comforting the Grump by Nora Phoenix
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Marnin's life is simple: he works hard and plays hard, with anyone willing. He's not discriminatory. And then he goes home alone. Until his body decides to stop cooperating. Nothing is stirring anymore, and it scares him to death. While navigating this issue, support comes from an unlikely source. Ennio, his best friend’s little brother, is sweet and sassy but also stubborn in his decision to be there for me. He’s the vibrant glittery sunshine to his grumpy black heart. He doesn’t need him, of course, but he can’t deny it’s nice to have him around to comfort him. He has his own challenges to deal with, and somehow, they become friends. With excellent benefits. But he's not the right man for him. He's too old, too dark, too set in his ways, Right?

I loved this story with the two men who provided support for each other. I loved the sensitive way that sexual dysfunction and historic child abuse were handled as part of the story. Both men were brave for each other. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Slithery Heat

Slithery Heat by Roe Horvat
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Looking for a no-strings-attached way to go through heat, Gideon signs up with the Titanoboa Clinic to become a surrogate for an alien species. He’ll carry alien eggs in exchange for an ecstatic heat experience, and after ten days, his body will return to normal. He doesn't expect to befriend the odd yet charming alien, let alone fall in love.

This was a sweet story of how Gideon went through his heat and found true love. There was a lot of kinky tentacle sex but I would have liked this story better if there was more about them both and their lives before and after the heat. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and set in the Omegaverse.

Review: With This Ring by R.S. McKenzie 5 of 5 stars

With This Ring

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

To Carter Whitlock, family means everything to him. He’ll do everything he can to keep them safe. That includes marrying his enemy. Kaison St. Clair has been a thorn in his side for years. When they see each other, they either trade insults or blows. He hates everything about him. If it were up to Carter, he’d stay far away from him and the entire St. Clair family. But someone is after both their families. The only way to keep everyone alive is an arranged marriage with his enemy to combine the might of the St. Clair’s and the Whitlock’s. Life with Kai is supposed to be about winning the war we found ourselves in, not love and emotions. But somewhere down the line, he gets under Carter's skin. And he’ll do whatever it takes to make him his in more than name.

I loved this story with the two men forced into an arranged marriage and the surprise that they both had as it developed into much more. There was the story of the enemy and the ensuing solution of that problem, any descent in their one families as well as their own relationship which became far more than either anticipated. A lot of emotions and feelings in this story as they navigate the various story arcs. \\easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

My Big Gay Secret Wedding by D.K. Sutton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Rainn's almost-wedding to a popular media influencer implodes and goes viral, they head to Vegas to drown their sorrows and hide from the paparazzi. Everything is under control. Right? But then he wakes up naked, hungover and married to his straight best friend Mac. A quick annulment is the perfect solution. Until it’s not. Rainn needs to break free from his controlling father and stay in med school to gain access to his trust fund and the truth about my mother’s disappearance. The only way to do that is to prove his independence. He and Mac agreed to pretend their accidental marriage was intentional, pretend Mac isn’t exactly straight and pretend that he's madly in love with his best friend. The hard part? All this pretending feels way too real. Every kiss and touch from Mac feels more authentic than the last, making it difficult to hide how much he wants their marriage to be forever. Mac has been the only constant in his life. His best friend. His whole world. But with their divorce only a signature away, he risks losing everything. Mac included. Can what happened in Vegas be forever?

This was a sweet story as Rainn did his best to cope with his father, his missing mother and the family politics. Some parts of it didn't gel well - especially the whole performer who was his mother angle, but other parts did as Rainn's father showed his true colours to everyone and the relationship between Rainn and Mac was easier than they both thought. Demented

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There’s nothing Lazarus loves more than a mystery. Noir has him stumped. That’s how people like him get killed. On paper, Lazarus doesn’t exist. He’s a ghost. An assassin. He’s also likely the worst thing to ever happen to Noir. Noir is part of the elite. Lazarus came from trash and will probably die there. They shouldn’t have met. In fact, their meeting is a bit too convenient. Noir is a lot of things. Bored, rich, and part of the upper crust. He’s also a prince and the biggest drug kingpin on the East Coast. No one has ever gotten close enough to him to know that part. Unfortunately, that makes him the guy Lazarus is hunting to kill. It’s a predicament to be sure, especially since neither of them has ever wanted anyone else as badly.

This is a dark story as assassin Lazarus meets drug boss Noir and they strike up a relationship - first purely physical which then develops into something more. It seems that both men have met their match and that both can handle their levels of violence. This story has emotions and feelings although as not expressed so much by words as by actions and implied. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Daddy’s Picky Eater by Aria Grace
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Augie likes what he likes, but trying to explain himself to others almost never goes how he plans.
Augie has been slow to start dating since his attack last year. He’s physically healed but still nervous about trusting new men. When Ethan, his friend’s Daddy, introduces him to a chef friend Dexter, Augie is smitten. The only problem is that chefs like to cook, and Augie is a picky eater. Like, he can’t trust anyone to cook for him because it’s never right. So he tries to hide his true feelings. Dex is intrigued by the sweet boy Ethan introduced him to, but he gets the feeling there’s so much he doesn’t yet know. Other than the fact that Ethan likes to have Little playdates with Ethan’s boy and a few other friends, he isn’t sure how much of what Augie shares is true or half-truth. But he has every intention of finding out.

This was a sweet story as Dex tried to work out what food Augie would be prepared to eat while Augie was trying to work out when Dex would dump him for being too fussy. Shifting Ties

Shifting Ties by Abrianna Denae by Leigh Kenzie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story follows Mafia Bosses Allesandro Martelli and Cristian Amato as they grapple with captivity, their families’ growing turmoil, and the psychological warfare inflicted upon them. Stripped of control, their desperation mounts as their territories descend into chaos. Meanwhile, relationships within their crime syndicates take unexpected turns. What starts as fleeting encounters for relief deepens into tangled emotional bonds, challenging loyalties and forcing both families to reassess their priorities. With an emboldened enemy closing in, the Amatos and Martellis must put aside personal conflicts to survive—before their own discord proves just as dangerous as the war raging around them.

I loved this dramatic story as the enemies started to close in and the links between the two families deepened. Many of the relationships between the men involved violence but that was the kind of world that they lived in. A lot of emotions and feelings as well as passion in this story. This was an MMM and MMM+ story with mature content.

Cupcake by Athena Steller
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Being kicked out of his pride, Logan wandered around the country until Axel found his malnourished lion side and invited him into his home. He's found family, brotherhood, and happiness there. Now as paramormals are starting to find mates once more, it’s been amazing to see his brothers find their perfect matches. He wants a mate too! So badly. He's trying to be patient but there’s a man in town that has captured his attention. He doesn’t want to betray his future mate if he even gets one, but Dean is as yummy as the treats he makes. Even though everyone tells him how gorgeous he is, I know that attractiveness is only skin-deep, and he's not sure that he could keep a man like Dean anyway. He probably wouldn't like him in his pretty lace and silk. Then secrets are revealed and he realises there’s a reason He's so drawn to Dean. After learning that Dean doesn’t want him as a mate, he does what he does best and runs away. He might be a fierce lion shifter but he's not a brave boy. Dean messed up and he knows it. First, he hid his scent from the other paranormal family in town. Second, once he realised Logan was his mate, he didn’t tell him. Lastly, he disappeared for months without a word to track down his old coven. He did it to protect his mate and his family, but Logan doesn’t know that. Now that he's back he wants to make amends. How can he get his sweet mate to forgive him? He knows that he needs to tell him the truth. No matter how bad it makes him look.

This was a sweet story as Dean messed up by keeping secrets from Logan even if they were well-intentioned. Logan ran away in despair and had to be found and the damage healed. As sweet a couple, as they were I did struggle a little with Logan and his challenged thinking. The ready way that the rest of the family headed up by Axel and their associates just accepted Dean's reasoning and apology was far too easy. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Calvin

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Between Calvin's tech firm and his family’s endowment fund, there’s no shortage of people trying to get close to him. Offering a trespasser a job to run interference makes no sense, but neither does his instant attraction to sweet, submissive Micah. He never expected to fall in love with a man, let alone be the Daddy who takes on all his burdens. Micah's life has never been easy, and his only option left was to sell himself. The intimidating and wildly sexy Calvin Rutledge offers him a lifeline out of the garden shed and off the streets. In exchange for room, board, and a chance at a better future, he would be his companion. But he never anticipated falling in love with his boss or craving the care that comes with being his boy.

This was a sweet story of how Calvin met Micah and became his Daddy. I loved Micah's attempts at independence and stopping Calvin from spending too much money on him. The trouble from Micah's brother introduced some mild drama. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like Daddy/boy dynamic.

Haven by Reese Knightley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

For years Link and Eagle have danced around their attraction for each other, and neither one is willing to cross the line from friendship to lovers. Link doesn’t want to lose what they have. Eagle lets things go, following Link’s lead. But ignoring their attraction isn’t working anymore, and one more spark ignites their mounting passion. Can they truly make the leap from best friends to lovers? They were brothers-in-arms through the military and are now co-workers - can becoming involved beyond that even work? Not to mention they are complete opposites. One man is laid back and easygoing and the other - not so much. When one explosive encounter leaves Link pissed off and Eagle contrite, they’ll have to do some hard work to repair their rocky bond. Mix in a bomb, drug dealers, gangs, and illegal drugs with kids involved and Link and Eagle will have a lot to focus on as they try to fix things between them and tackle their building desire.

This was a story full of the lack of communication between the two men on anything not work related and how they were affected. They had lots of explosive passion that they did their best to keep from the case which was explosive in its own way. This story had lots of emotions and feelings. Review: Healing the Twin by Nora Phoenix 3 of 5 stars

Healing the Twin

Healing the Twin by Nora Phoenix
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

They were at the top. Tomás and Tiago Banner, the most famous twins in the world. The sexiest men alive. His whole identity was rooted in being the older brother, in taking care of his twin, in being a model. Until Tiago fell in love and left Tomás on his own. Now he's lost, drifting without an anchor. Hurting. To remain close to his twin, he stayed in Forestville, the small town they grew up in. He's got friends here, old ones and new. Like Fir, the adorable redhead who had a crush on him in high school. They reconnected, and he finds himself sharing things with Fir he's never told anyone else. When the budding friendship between them becomes more, he's shocked. Fir is not the type for a fling, and Tomás knows nothing else. Their lives couldn’t be further apart. Tomás is a celebrity, an eternal bachelor who’s always played the field. Fir is the local doctor, a single dad still grieving his deceased husband. He needs more than Tomás could ever give him. He has a choice to make. Can he become the man Fir deserves He's never wanted anything more.

This was a sweet story as Tomás struggled with the separation from the co-dependence with his twin and the loneliness that followed. Fir was still grieving his husband but was also lonely. It was great to see these two men go from hooking-up to something far deeper. Lots of emotions and feelings were worked through. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Detonate by Reese Knightly 5 of 5 stars

Detonate

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stefano is the Phoenix Commander. He’d waited around long enough. They’d known each other for over thirty years, been together for a good portion of those years, and had lived in the same house for the past two. And still, Giovanni Rossi wouldn’t tell people they were a couple. Of course, several of their family and friends suspected they were together, but nothing had ever been confirmed. And frankly, Stefano hated all the secrecy. Maybe Rossi didn’t want to make it official between them. Or maybe it was as simple as, Rossi wanted to live a straight life for the public. Bottom line? Stefano is tired of living in Rossi’s closet. Rossi was the Phoenix Chief. How the hell had he gotten into this predicament? His boyfriend, who on all accounts should have been his husband years ago, had left him. And Rossi had only himself to blame. Now he had to use his elite team of operatives to find the man who held his heart. If he had to, he’d toss Stefano over his shoulder and carry him home. But what if that didn’t work? Well then he would have to come up with something else to convince Stefano to give him another chance. Because there's no way in hell Rossi is going to live without him.

I loved this story as we had confirmation that Stefano and Rossi were a couple. I felt Stefano's frustration with Rossi's insistence that their relationship stay hidden which must have made him feel like a dirty secret. This was full of emotions and feelings as they worked through their relationship and the dangerous situation that they were in. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Awakening the Sheriff by Nora Phoenix 3 of 5 stars

Awakening the Sheriff

Awakening the Sheriff by Nora Phoenix
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Auden had always wanted simple things. Become the local sheriff like his dad. Get married and have kids. Build a life in Forestville. At forty-eight, he's single and co-parenting his two daughters with his ex-wife. His chances of meeting someone new in my small town are slim. When a new high school teacher moves into town, he recognises a kindred spirit. Keaton’s his age and a single dad too, and they hit it off, becoming friends. The more time they spend together, the closer they grow.  When Auden realises that their friendship has become something more, it’s the biggest shock of his life. He's never been attracted to men, but he can’t deny his feelings for Keaton. But Keaton and his sons struggle to feel at home in Forestville, and Auden can’t ever see himself leaving, so what does that mean for them?

I enjoyed this story but it was a little hard going sometimes as I lost focus on the story. I think it needed to gel together better. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Rebel

Rebel by Reese Knightley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cohen “Ace” Gray was the Pegasus Commander. He’d buried one lover; he wasn’t going to take the chance of that ever happening again. Ace had his own demons to work on, but working closely with Jacob and having his friendship despite their twenty-year age difference had made life a bit easier. The void that Jacob left ate at him and burned into his brain, making him think that he might have made the biggest mistake of his life turning Jacob away. Jacob Burns was a Techie specialist, skilled in combat, expert at weapons. He never dreamed it would be this hard to cut the apron strings from his three dads. He got it. They lived a brutal life and dealt with the scum that hovered in the darkest part of society. What they didn’t fully understand was that he’d watched and learned from them, and he would leave his mark on this world. Ace and his dads thought he didn’t have what it took to be an operative. They were so damned wrong. One job. One chance encounter. When an unexpected meeting happens, both men are left stunned. Then, shit gets all twisted up.

I loved this story as it was all about feelings and emotions with a good sized dose of danger and drama I felt for Jacob and how frustrating it was to be blocked because of his age. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Honor

Honor by Reese Knightley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Oliver Rains joined Pegasus after the military to keep doing what he loves - helping out the innocent and putting scumbags in the ground where they belong. He was supposed to find a new team, not fall in love, but what he hadn’t counted on was former chief of police Parker Johnson walking into his life. The sexy man is everything he’s wanted for a long time. Parker Johnson took early retirement from the police force after an altercation with the mayor. It wasn’t his fault the guy was a jackass. He landed a job with the elite unit of operatives known as Pegasus and it’s there he meets Oliver Rains. The ex-Special Forces soldier is the one he’s been searching for, but he’s never mixed his love life and his work before. When Pegasus is asked to assist with taking down a sex trafficking ring, the unit jumps at the chance to help. Then someone comes after Oliver. And Parker will do whatever it takes to keep him safe.

This book was full of drama and action as the team worked together to tackle the sex trafficking ring. Mixed with that was the relationship between Oliver and Parker and accepting that they could still work together. Lots of emotions and feelings in this story. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Rough by Reese Knightly 4 of 5 stars

Rough

Rough by Reese Knightley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mason can admit that he’s had the hots for rough and gruff Gage Hillcrest for well over a year now. Only Gage is bossy and overbearing as all hell. Not to mention that Gage is a closed book and Mason doesn’t know anything about the man. Gage has wanted smart mouthed and sexy, Mason Taylor since he first laid eyes on him. But the two of them are like oil and water. Mason is wild. And well, Gage is not. Mason also has a big house and more money than he’d ever need while Gage is drowning in debt. When Pegasus is asked to help the local police find a missing undercover officer, the unit leaps in with all hands on deck. Lives collide when they roll out on the mission and Mason finds out that Gage needs aid taking care of his family. Of course, Mason jumps in to help. As the pair grow closer, life gets more complicated when Gage’s son goes missing. With loved ones in jeopardy, Pegasus will do everything in their power to find the little boy and recover the missing undercover cop before it’s too late. Because in the end, it’s all about family and taking care of those in need.

I loved this story as Mason and Gage finally stopped their dance around each other and Gage realised that Mason's wealth was not as important as the love between them. The way that the personal life of Gage intersected with the case was clever.  Easy to feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Fever by Reese Knightley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tinley Marigold used to jump at any sound and feared the dark, but since Maverick arrived in the small town of Crumpet Washington almost a year ago, Tinley feels safe. He only wishes that Maverick would tell him the real reason he came to Crumpet. Maverick wasn’t in Crumpet by accident, he was here with a purpose and a job to do. Protect Tinley at all costs. He’s pretty sure that doesn’t mean sleep with the beautiful man. Best laid plans and all. Tinley is like a fever in Maverick’s blood and when a bad man comes calling, he’ll be the deadly force that removes all obstacles.

I loved this novella which gave more insight into why Tinley was so scared. Maverick was wonderfully protective of Tinley and I loved the way his dogs were trained to protect him. Lots of emotions and feelings in this story as Tinley faced his abuser and Maverick faced his feelings. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Lethal by Reese Knightley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Adam Campbell, 33, blacklisted CIA agent, needs to get covert information into the right hands. Alone and on the run, his world suddenly stops when he discovers the identity of the Pegasus operative who is on his tail. Arranging a meeting just to gaze into the eyes of the man he’s always loved, Adam is set up and almost killed. Out of resources and nowhere to turn, Adam returns to the only home he’s ever known. Dalton Weber, 38, second in command of Pegasus, has a job to do: Stop ex-CIA agent, code name Sphinx, from selling classified information. When Sphinx disappears after Dalton’s botched attempt at contact, Dalton takes a much-needed break. Going home for the holiday, Dalton finds Adam, the man he’d walked away from years ago. Imagine Adam’s shock when Dalton shows up. Imagine Dalton’s disbelief when he finds out the facts about the man who has always owned his heart. When explosions, secrets, and attempted murder hit close to home, Pegasus opens up a lethal dose of ass kicking. Will that be enough to stop the bad guys and give Adam a chance to come clean?

This was a very dramatic story as Adam struggled with who to trust while they both had to repair their relationship after a breakup years ago. I loved Dalton's Mum and her willingness to care for others. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Call It Quits

Call It Quits by Reese Knightley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The last time Beckett walked out on him, Holden knew it was time to let him go. Since the day they’d met, he’d known they were meant for one another, but Beckett doesn’t feel the same. Now, it’s time to call it quits, only Beckett is in trouble and Holden can’t walk away until the man is out of danger. If truth be told, maybe not even then. For Beckett it’s not easy fighting powerful forces and juggling things with Holden. He knows Holden wants more, but he’s skittish about commitment and he has his reasons. Right now though, those reasons take a back seat to the trouble he’s got brewing. So he wants, no he needs, Holden fighting by his side and honestly, he doesn’t want to think about Holden walking away. It’s all about the timing. With time running out, it’s a race to catch the bad guys before they start killing hostages. Can a commitment phobic, ex-army, talkative lieutenant and an active duty, easy going, patient sergeant put their rocky relationship on hold to take on corrupt law enforcement? And if they do, when the dust settles, will they fully commit to each other or call it quits?

This was a very dramatic story the Beckett did whatever he could to stay alive as Holden and the rest of the team tried to help him while trying to catch the aggressor after him. Lots of passion and violence in this story. A fitting final book in the series. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Despite It All by Reese Knightley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As a favour, Sergeant Joshua Greene accepts a special assignment that puts him in the immediate vicinity of the disapproving Forest Taylor. Greene honours truth above all else so when a misunderstanding is cleared up between them, he is suddenly faced with a decision that challenges said honour. Should he come clean and tell Forest the truth or keep quiet? FBI agent Forest Taylor has his own set of problems, so he doesn’t need the annoying Joshua Greene coming in all bossy and making matters worse. Greene doesn't even like him. Or does he? When he gets mixed signals from Greene, he can’t help but wonder, should he back off or take a chance on Greene and lay it all on the line? The stakes are high and the lies, secrecy, and choices start adding up. Despite it all, can Forest convince Greene to stay? Will Greene admit the truth or will he take the easy way out and walk away?

Battle It Out

Battle It Out by Reese Knightley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Master Sergeant Zane Gannon loves nothing more than being a part of his Special Forces unit and kicking ass, but above everything, he values his friendship with Isaac. Sure, they argue and snipe at each other, but it’s all in good fun. Until it isn’t. Now, Isaac is pulling away and something Zane has buried for two decades is resurfacing. Staff Sergeant Isaac Thorne has loved Zane Gannon from a distance for three years, and he was doing just fine concealing this fact until the colonel decided to pair them together a year ago. Now, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to hide his feelings, so he takes to avoiding Zane. So what? The man is infuriating and straight, and lately, he’s acting very strange. The fire ignites between Zane and Isaac when things come to a boiling point on a mission and the locker room gets heated. Infinity takes on several new recruits. BFFs are not who they seem, and a mission goes horribly wrong when a group of homegrown terrorists rear their ugly heads. Hold onto your helmets for a bumpy ride as these two soldiers battle it out.

Review: Whatever It Takes by Reese Knightly 4 of 5 stars

Whatever It Takes

Whatever It Takes by Reese Knightley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dillon Thorne went from almost getting kicked out of the Army to being a revered member of a Special Forces unit. When his commanding officer orders him on a protection detail, it’s the last thing he wants to do. He’s a weapons expert, not a babysitter. Luke Rhine worked his way up through the Army and retired as a general. Life should have been smooth sailing. Only, things aren’t going as well as he’d like. For one, someone wants him dead. For another, he’s attracted to the soldier who’s assigned to his protection detail, and damn if he doesn’t want to kiss that smirk off Dillon’s face. There’s a problem. Dillon doesn’t do relationships and Luke’s too old for anything else. But one thing is clear - when the bad guys show up, Dillon will do whatever it takes to keep Luke alive.

I loved this story with Dillon who had worked hard on his temper but had no confidence in his abilities and so had written off the chance of a relationship between them. I loved all of the emotions and feelings in this story. This was an MM story with mature content.

Taking It Slow by Reese Knightley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Colonel Liam Cobalt has it all. He is content being a successful colonel in the Army and a billionaire with enough money at his disposal to help others. It takes only one glimpse of Spencer Turner to change all that. When a headlong clash sets him back, he must rethink his strategy. Offering Spencer friendship instead of romance seems like a good idea even though he wants so much more. Captain Spencer Turner grew up dirt poor. He has fought for everything he ever had and now he’s all about taking care of his younger brother. When Liam suggests “friends only”, Spencer accepts because there’s no way he can become involved with a rich man. Been there, done that. Besides, he’s got too much going on for anything else. When a sinister enemy is hellbent on extortion, Spencer finds himself facing a no-win situation. Will Liam come to the rescue? And if he does, will Spencer accept his help? Two powerful men come together thinking they can keep it on a “friends only” level, but when the heat rises, is taking it slow the best course?

It all started with a glimpse. A chance encounter left an impression and Wolfgang Brandt was hooked. Caleb Robertson wants Wolf, an older man, a sexy warrior. Is it any wonder he’s drawn to the soldier since he’s been around military men his whole life? Not to mention, he’s going to enlist or join the police academy when he turns eighteen. He just hasn’t decided which one. Renovating the Model

Renovating the Model by Nora Phoenix
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Everyone knows Tiago's face but no one knows the real him. All people see when they look at him is a beautiful man, a supermodel, half of the world’s most famous twins. No one sees the man underneath. When he returns to Forestville, the small town he grew up in, for his high school reunion, he impulsively decided to stay.nHe's now the proud owner of a house, an absolute fixer-upper. Never mind that he has two left hands. Thank god for Cas, the local contractor, who agrees to help him out. They come from completely different worlds and are almost twenty years apart, yet we somehow connect. Cas sees him, the real him. They hook up, then become friends with benefits (courtesy of a snowstorm) and then a fake relationship (long story). But when fake becomes real and pretending turns into feelings he can’t deny, he's left wondering if what they have stands a chance.

This was a sweet story of how a tired supermodel went home and found somewhere and someone to settle down with. The story was a bit high level and I felt that there could have been more discussion about their thoughts and feelings. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Bringing It Home

Bringing It Home by Reese Knightley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Diesel Gannon doesn’t mind attending a BDSM party or two, but he draws the line at inflicting pain. That might seem odd because he has a dominant personality, but it’s just not who he is. He’s seen enough war and pain to last a lifetime. Out on medical leave, and as a favour for a friend, Diesel heads to the Triple R to check on Triton. A man who is far, far too young for him. Triton Scott has been running from abuse his whole life. First his father and now his boyfriend and the guy’s thug brother. He wants an older man who will treat him right, like Diesel Gannon, but the big bear that rescued him from a cave-in thinks he’s too young to know his own mind. So what if there’s a sixteen year age gap between them. Since when does love have an age limit? When Diesel leaves the Triple R and heads home to Oregon, Triton is at a loss and makes a really bad decision. Things take a turn for the worse and a hero is the only thing that stands between good and evil. What the killers don’t know is that when they mess with someone in the small town of Fern, Oregon, the men who live there will F you up.

This was a dramatic story as Triton experienced abuse, tried to escape and then needed help from Diesel and the rest of his colleagues to have true freedom. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content. There is a little BDSM-like D/s dynamic.

What could be better than relaxing in a small town and keeping an eye on his little sister at the same time? Nothing, until he gets his first look at his sister’s boss. Elijah has always felt bulky and big around the smaller type of men he prefers and around Justin Bailey, it’s the same damned thing. Justin gave up dating big, muscled men after his breakup with his abusive boyfriend, but he just might make an exception when his café manager’s older brother takes over his spare bedroom. The instant attraction has sparks flying and, after a few days, Justin doesn’t want to fight it any longer. Christmas is a magical time of year. The power of love takes over. Cutting It Close by Reese Knightley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Captain Maddox Stone is ready to put the men who messed with his family on a fast train to hell. Eliminating the enemy is the only thing he’s good at anyway. He sure as hell isn’t good at connecting. Of course, on the heels of that thought, his past comes walking through the door. Will he finally have the guts to explain what really happened that night so long ago? Nothing on earth could bring Lieutenant River Seeger back to the ranch until his grandfather calls for help. With no other recourse, he returns to the Triple R, but makes it clear it’s for a limited time. He’s left the past behind and with it, his youthful dreams. But, since he’s here, shouldn’t he at least get some answers? Two soldiers faced with the past. One man struggles with a tragic secret while the other one demands answers. What’s even worse? When Maddox deploys on a mission and River takes on the kidnappers, time is running out for one of them. The only thing for certain is they’re definitely cutting it close for any chance at a happy ending.

I loved this story of the two men who loved each other but had secrets and time against them. I was so glad that they managed to finally talk to each other and be completely honest.
