He wants her more than life, but can she trust him with her biggest secret?

Kann is a lion shifter from another world. Literally. Even though he’s learned how to walk, talk, dress and sound just like everyone else in Mystery, Alaska, he still can’t find his mate.

Until she walks right into the local grocery store. Her blue eyes and killer legs make his lion stand up and roar. Well, that and her soul is glowing just for him. That only happens…

…with soulmates. Which means the magick of his world did cross over to earth with the survivors.

Penny is on the run, being chased at a breakneck pace over the Alaskan countryside. She can’t trust anyone and knows it’s only a matter of time until she’s caught.

When she meets Kann, the sexy backwoods, plaid-shirted man from Mystery, she’s instantly attracted. However, she can’t afford a distraction and she doesn’t want anyone else to get hurt when they come for her.

Except, Kann has never met an objection he couldn’t overcome. With patience and determination, he wins Penny over inch by inch. But will Penny’s past steal everything from both of them?

I’m Not Lion To You is the second book in the new Soulmate Shifters in Mystery, Alaska series. It’s a full-length, standalone fantasy paranormal lion-shifter romance story featuring a strong human female and an alpha male lion from another world with an inclination for safeguarding and satisfying his mate. Review: Wade's War by Dale Mayer 5 of 5 stars

Wade's War (Terkel's Team Book 2)

Wade's War by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sophia and Wade met years ago at a conference when he was going to be back to take her out to dinner and she never heard from him again! She has now spent several years working with Merk and the rest of the team in Texas when Terk has asked for her help. Sophia jumped at the opportunity to go as even if Wade didn't understand she knew a connection worth trying for. Wade is weak, helpless with damaged abilities after the attack on Terk's team when he sees Sophia who he had fallen in love with at first sight. With his defences down he knows it will be impossible to keep her at arm's length a second time. So instead Wade has to bring her closer, protect her as it becomes clearer to their enemies that more than just Terk survived the attack.

I really enjoyed this story which has a great mixture of the softer relationship side of things as some great storylines around their psychic abilities and technology and how those who are after them are using them in order to try and attack and finish the job of destroying Terk and his team. I loved sassy Sophia and the way she was very forthright and not prepared to accept any excuses or brush-offs as she was strong enough to take whatever was coming at them (and in fact be a full partner in whatever they faced). Easy to read and understand, full of danger and drama plus it was easy to become invested in both the relationship between Sophia and Wade as well as the attempts on Terk and his team. Contains a little sexual content at the end of the story.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Excerpt:

The last man I wanted to see on Earth stood inside my business. His hard gaze burned as he glared back at me. Before I could stop myself, I was standing at the edge of my office, with only Viola and the meeting area of my shop between us.

"I need to talk to you." Rhaspe's smooth, deep voice slid over me.

When I opened my mouth to tell him to go away, nothing came out. Not even a squeak. Instead, I shook my head and pointed at the door.

"Cadence, is everything okay?" Viola rose up from her chair with a phone in her hand.

I nodded. "Everything is fine. Rhaspe realizes his error and will be leaving now."

"Oh shit." Viola gasped as her head swiveled between the two of us. "I'm uh… I'm going to take lunch while you sort this out." Viola grabbed her phone and wallet, then bolted past Rhaspe. Bastard's gaze didn't waiver from me.

"Cadence." The way he said my name made my knees weak. Also made me throb with need. "You know I wouldn't have come here if I had any other options."

"Then it's a damn shame you have no options here either."

Rhaspe took a step toward me, and I barely caught myself before I retreated. No, I refused to run from him. I ignored the fact that there was no other exit than the one he blocked, but that wasn't the point. He sought me out, and I'd hadn't pieced together my heart since he shattered it.

He growled deep in his chest as he stalked across the room. Rhaspe was a predator, and I was his prey. The wall slammed into my back as I tried to keep my distance. Faster than I could perceive, Rhaspe pressed his hard body against mine, pinning me against the wall. His lips smashed against mine, his tongue asking for more.

Every ounce of sense escaped as the mating bond screamed for me to accept him. Pressing my hands against his chest backfired as they betrayed me. Instead of shoving him away, they slid over his hard muscles.

He broke the kiss, his hand tangling in my hair and pulling my head to the side. With my neck exposed, he growled while trailing kisses down to my collarbone. I groaned, and he nuzzled my cheek while chuffing at me.

Like a lion. The sound kick-started my brain. Awareness slammed into me. I shoved Rhaspe away. Or I tried to. He didn't budge, but I slid backward on the desk, giving me the distance I needed. "Oh hell no." I scooted further away, not caring how stupid the movement looked. "You rejected me. Fated mate or not, you don't get to walk in here like you didn't rip my heart out then stomp on it."

Review: Killer Heart by Eva Chance by Harlow King 5 of 5 stars

Killer Heart

Killer Heart by Eva Chance by
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dess has discovered that the family she was stolen from are actually a prominent family who campaign against criminals. That means they are very unlikely to accept the real her let alone the men who are brutal but did welcome her into their lives and beds. But she craves a real home and family and so she tries to find a way to make it work to have her birth family and her chosen family. Then enemies start to target her birth family as well and they might need her skills too. But as she ventures further into this path it becomes harder to work out just who is the villain and who is the victim. Will Dess be able to pick the right side when the time is right?

Wow - there was layer upon layer in this book as Dess tried to navigate the real versus chosen family as well as handle all of the revelations and what their effect was on how she saw the people involved. I loved the way that the guys stuck by her using their own skills to help to find out the truth (even if it went with or against the way she might have wanted it to go - the truth was more important). I loved the way that decisive action was taken (even though it was a bit of a surprise exactly how it all ended). Contains lots of danger, drama and at times violence. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

I received a free review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Review: Rescued by the Alien Outlaw by Ella Maven 4 of 5 stars

Rescued by the Alien Outlaw (Mates of the Kaluma #4)Rescued by the Alien Outlaw by Ella Maven
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rain always had dreams that her life would be better than it currently is as a servant to the snake queen. Then the Kaluma warrior with one blue eye who she has never forgotten turns up but he is not how she remembers him and appears like a broken soul. Kazel has come back to rescue Rain because she is the reason he is still alive and he is determined to pay her back even if it means he has to infiltrate the enemy stronghold. But it won't be easy, will take all of his wits but he is determined to succeed - after all, she is his fated mate and they both deserve a future.

I enjoyed this story of what happened when Kazel went back for rain. It had a suitable mix of drama, danger, twists and turns that made their joint fate well worth the effort in achieving. I loved the twist of the folks that helped them and how they related to the story. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Claimed by the Alien by Ella Maven 4 of 5 stars

Claimed by the Alien Chieftain (Mates of the Kaluma #3)

Claimed by the Alien Chieftain by Ella Maven
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Sherif gets word that a human woman saw his long lost brother he just has to go and follow up on the lead. However, finding her and talking to her is proving difficult. When he does finally find her everything becomes more complicated as he feels an undeniable draw to her. The female with the smart mouth has no idea yet but she will be by his side when he rules his people. Zuri has heard that there was a Kaluma looking for her but she has no interest in seeing him as she doesn't want to tell him why she is free from her captors, But as he is hard to shake off and when they meet she realises that she now has a whole new problem as he is claiming that she is his mate and she is not confident that she can resist.

I enjoyed this story which had lots of danger and drama both when Sherif finally met Zuri and when they tried to find and rescue his brother together. I loved the way that their relationship was built until it was a solid foundation that they could become mates from. It was also great to see that Zuri had a softer side and wasn't just the badass that she appeared to be. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Anna and the Alien by Honey Phillips 3 of 5 stars

Anna and the Alien (Alien Abduction, #1)

Anna and the Alien by Honey Phillips
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Anna Elliot was flying back from a vacation when she wakes up on an alien spacecraft in a cage and is forced to help a huge alien prisoner with golden skin. Even wounded he arouses her but she has been told if he dies so does she and so she needs to try and concentrate. When the spaceship crashes on an alien planet she needs to put her trust in him in order to survive although the passion he cases her may mean she loses her heart to him. Sardoran mercenary Jakkar is searching desperately for a new planet to replace his dying home planet and didn't expect to be injured and captured followed by a shipwreck. Forbidden to mate outside of his species he can't help but be tempted by Anna with her curvy body and caring heart. Now he is responsible for a small group of survivors and human Anna who he is determined to claim as his own. Can a girl and her alien find happiness on a deserted planet at the far end of the galaxy?

I enjoyed this story although I did find the politics of can he can't be a bit tiresome towards the end of the story. I did love the alien woman and her role in their romance and eventual satisfactory claiming. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.
