Review: Conall by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

Conall (The K9 Files Book 24)

Conall by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Conall is more than happy to head out after a War Dog has gone missing, leaving a wheelchair-bound military war veteran lost and alone. Yet what seems like a simple job changes, when Conall comes face-to-face with darker undertones in that town. Bethany always wanted to have a veterinary clinic, and she’s been doing well until the town starts dying and she finds it hard to get and to keep decent staff. Her temporary help suddenly embroils her clinic in a mess involving a missing War Dog, and then Bethany uncovers what else this young woman is involved in. None of it’s good. Conall refuses to back down or to walk away from the sudden hell Bethany’s life has become and there is no telling how ugly this can get.

This story can teach us all some important lessons about the feeling you get from buying things with money that was earned, not tolerating constant bad behaviour (no matter how much you love someone) and treating people with respect (especially veterans). The whole town was under the shadow of the main employer there, and it was good to make that clear (even though it was too late for Bethany and her mother). Easy to read, feel and understand.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
