Review: A Corpse for Christmas by Ki Brightly by M.D. Gregory 4 of 5 stars

A Corpse for Christmas

A Corpse for Christmas by Ki Brightly by M.D. Gregory
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Eddie Wheelwright reunites with Tyler Morrow—the one he once left behind—he’s determined to make amends. Instead, he accidentally kills the man exploiting Tyler. And then, somehow, a few more of Tyler’s enemies. Tyler thinks Eddie is avenging him on purpose. Eddie absolutely is not. With Christmas looming and bodies piling up, their second chance at love hinges on one tiny detail: can Tyler forgive an accidental serial killer?

I loved that this isn’t a simple “we drifted apart” reunion. Eddie and Tyler’s second chance is built on abandonment, trauma, and years of unspoken hurt, and so their reunion forces both men to confront the past rather than rewrite it. It was interesting that Tyler’s life had been shaped by violence, exploitation, and neglect. His scars — physical and emotional — aren’t just backstory; they inform every choice he makes, and Eddie becomes a catalyst, but not a cure. Tyler’s healing was jagged, reactive, and deeply human.  I also loved that the story played with the tension between righteous fury and chaotic fate and the moral absurdity of someone becoming a hero by mistake. I also thought that both men carried distorted self‑images, as Eddie sees himself as a walking disaster and Tyler sees himself as unworthy of protection. Their journey challenged their internal narratives, asking whether people can rewrite the stories they’ve lived inside for years. Many emotions and feelings. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Leave Me Broken by Ki Brightly M.D. Gregory 3 of 5 stars

Leave Me Broken

Leave Me Broken by Ki Brightly by M.D. Gregory
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Reed Olsson made an unforgivable mistake - he stole from the Killough Company and as a result, suffered severe consequences. He’s tortured within an inch of his life, and he expects death, but instead, he’s given a second chance. The only downside is that he’s handed over to Oisín, a twisted thief with a death wish. Now Reed has a chance to escape, but to do that, he must bide his time and play the game. Oisín Kelly can’t stand boredom. He lives on the edge of danger every day and it’s always difficult to find a man who can keep up, but then he sees Reed under the torturous hand of a Company man. Oisín wants him. Reed’s a beast keeps Oisín on his toes, and he’s fun for now. Their relationship is push and pull, and neither expects the satisfying thrill of being around each other. Reed has been burned too many times, and Oisín expects Reed to falter under his chaotic demands. Instead, they find a comfortable balance that makes them question what they have. When Oisín drags Reed out on an assignment as his backup, will Reed run or will he stay to fight alongside Oisín?

This was a very dark book so please read any trigger warnings. I tried to understand Oisín but soon realised that he gets off on the thrill and the danger and that for most of this book, he has nothing in his life but pleasure. Reed is complex but there is more insight into him as the book progresses. There are a lot of thoughts, feelings and emotions in this story but I feel as if they could have been much deeper, especially for Oisín. This is an MM story with mature content and a lot of violence.

Review: Exclusive by Ki Brightly by M.D. Gregory 3 of 5 stars

Exclusive (Model Love, #2)

Exclusive by Ki Brightly by M.D. Gregory
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Being a model was not his true goal as Asa McGogh AKA Augustine Hart really wanted to be an actor. Then he gets an exclusive modelling contract (with a generous salary) for a new fashion line built by millionaire Ruslan Kozlova and it is a dream come true for him. Mafia boss Ruslan Kozlova is lonely and wants to find the right person to be by his side. When he sees Asa on a billboard he knows he must have him and will do anything to make it happen even if he has to bankroll an entire fashion line. Then he is determined to woo Asa the old-fashioned way, especially as the more time he spends with him the more he realises that Asa is pure and sweet. Ruslan needs to keep Asa from his dark parts but what will happen when Asa finds out about Ruslan's true identity?

I enjoyed this story with the beautiful Asa, the dark and mysterious Ruslan and the lengths that they would go to in order to stay together. I loved that Asa was no shrinking violet and that he managed to slip away from everyone when he had to. The writing was good as I could feel both of their thoughts and emotions. Easy to read and understand. Contains mature MM content.
