Review: A Daddy for Christmas 3: Luka by Rain Carrington 3 of 5 stars

A Daddy for Christmas 3: Luka

A Daddy for Christmas 3: Luka by Rain Carrington
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Luka Babic is a dazzling performer whose talent electrifies audiences — singing, dancing, and transforming into a vibrant persona under the stage lights. Yet away from the spotlight, he is withdrawn, burdened by self-loathing, and a shadow of his onstage brilliance. Benson Carter, an eternal optimist and devoted patron, is captivated by Luka’s celestial talent and sees the potential for him to become a household name. But Benson also recognizes the pain beneath Luka’s glamour and vows to help him rediscover joy, heal his inner battles, and embrace life beyond performance. Their journey is daunting, but Benson’s determination to unravel Luka’s guarded heart suggests that love, patience, and hope may transform despair into light — proving that nothing worthwhile ever comes easy.

I enjoyed this story about the collision of light and shadow, where talent and despair meet optimism and hope — and where love may be the hardest, yet most rewarding, performance of all. The story explored how identity can fracture between public persona and private reality, and whether love can reconcile those halves. I found this story to be a little hard to follow at times but it was kind of sweet too. I did find the Daddy link to be too contrived at the end of the story. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: The Heir by Rain Carrington 4 of 5 stars

The Heir

The Heir by Rain Carrington
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After growing up the son of a mafia don, Selestino Carrillo knows the score and is anxious to start working in the family business. He begs to go visit his uncles in Montana where Dante and Blaine Carrillo purchased a large piece of property in hopes of building a gay resort. Finally unable to keep him from it, the family allows him to go and there starts an adventure that Selestino has been waiting for. First, he heads to Apishipa Creek, Colorado to headhunt a trio of men for the resort. Dayton Binx, Mark (Pappy) Rafferty, and Nathan Lee would make a huge impact being the head chef, preacher and doctor respectfully. With them and their friends, Lonnie and Travis Walton, along for the ride, Sel knows he’s already proving himself valuable to his family. The serial killer that had menaced the land was gone, for the moment, and Sel met more friends and one enemy.
Indio Baca is a member of the motorcycle club, Aztecas Asesinos. Eight Caredenas has asked him to start a new chapter of the club in Montana, and while he’s there, he can help Dante Carrillo with security, in case the killer, Alex Brooks returns. When he sees the spoiled rich kid, Selestino, he immediately fears the way he feels about the guy. Pretending to hate him is easy until they are stuck together and fighting for their lives.

I enjoyed this story which was from Sel's point of view all all of the interactions that he had with people around the resort. It was nice to see him find friends as well as enemies to lovers between him and Indio. I'm looking forward to how he gets on in the future as the resort settles in and more men find their HEA. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Review: Wiseguy by Rain Carrington 4 of 5 stars

Wiseguy

Wiseguy by Rain Carrington
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Marius Monarco has been in a mafia family his entire life. Raised in it, he's known nothing else. When he is brought to Montana by the head of the Carrillos, he is a fish out of water. Then he meets two men who will change his life. They open the world to him, showing him that the streets of his youth aren't the only wild and dangerous place for him. The land stretches out around him, hiding secrets and lies. As he falls in love, he's torn between his new, soft life as a partner and his need to protect those men, using everything in his arsenal to do so. In a cat-and-mouse situation, Marius is determined to turn the tables and become the cat in the scenario, unwilling to let anything happen to the two men who have stolen his heart.  The prairie is not prepared for this wiseguy!

This was a good story as the mafia man who is totally at home on the streets had to learn new skills as he became a total fish out of water at a ranch. Thankfully he fell in love with two cowboys who were able to help him (while trying not to laugh). As the whole team struggled to work out who was behind murders and kidnappings, we got to learn more about all the characters in this story. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MMM story with mature content and a BSDM-like D/s dynamic.

Review: A Daddy for Summer: Prince by Rain Carrington 3 of 5 stars

A Daddy for Summer: Prince

A Daddy for Summer: Prince by Rain Carrington
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Prince Rose is a rich kid flunking out of college. The only hope for his father not to find out is to retake the finals of three classes. The way he can earn that privilege is to spend his summer at a camp for disadvantaged youth. The cabins are shared, the food is bland and nothing that he’s used to, but he makes a few friends, something he’s sorely lacking. He also makes a couple of enemies, but what keeps him going is the mystery man who is staying in a cabin across the lake from the camp. He’s gorgeous, tattooed, the perfect man to piss off Prince’s father, but so much more. When Prince recovers a cell phone the mystery man throws in the lake and gets it working again, he discovers that the man is even more mysterious than Prince first thought. Caught sneaking around to find out more, will the handsome stranger be one more hurdle in his life or will he be the Daddy-in-shining-armour that Prince has always needed?

This was a sweet story and I liked the layers of the enemies that Prince had made in association with Prince's father who was really quite evil. The friends that Prine had made were fun and I loved Prince's generosity to them. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.
