Review: Unscripted Desires by Cassandra Lawson 4 of 5 stars

Unscripted DesiresUnscripted Desires by Cassandra Lawson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gemma was in Vegas at her sister's wedding when she tripped down some stairs and fell into Ben's strong arms - there was an instant zap of chemistry and they had one kiss before saying goodbye. The next time she saw him he asked her to marry him as his reality show wife. Then it all clicked for her - how had she failed to recognize the lead singer of band Pirates of Paradise? He insisted that she had already auditioned for the show - the question is, can she really be crazy enough to do this which all the circus that will be around them? Their desires are unscripted, and their chemistry is real.

This was a sweet story that gave a great level of attention to their thoughts and emotions as they went through the experience of a reality show wedding, camera crew, ex and public attention. It gave you a slight peek into what it is like to be on a reality show as well as how to cope with a famous partner. It was nice to read the story from both of their points of view. Well written and easy to understand, I could relate to the characters as well as feel their emotions as the story developed.

Review: Psychic Visions: Books 7-9 by Dale Mayer 5 of 5 stars

Psychic Visions: Books 7-9 Psychic Visions: Books 7-9 by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great value collection of psychic books:

#7 Eyes to the Soul - 5*

Celina Wilton is technically blind, which she wasn't happy about, but she had learnt to adapt. Psychic Stefan Kronos has wanted to get close to Selina for along time, but her walls have meant he has watched her from afar. However, when a case he is consulting on puts her on his radar he has to watch his own step as well as hers. Can Stefan unravel the threads that twist between them as well as the killer who also seems to have eyes into her soul before it is too late?

I loved this story which finally meant that Stefan was central to the story so that he had his own chance of happiness. It was full of drama and excitement as well as the psychic elements that make this series so great. Well written, easy to understand and feel, I was completely addicted to the story as it developed. I needed to know who was behind everything just as much as Stefan and Celina.

#8 Now you see her - 5*

Tia had been imprisoned for years in a so-called "special program" and when she finally managed to escape she ran as far away as she could so they would leave her alone. Only psychic Stefan Kronos can help her, but when she contacts him for help she gets more than she imagined- she wakes from a coma to even more problems than she ever thought she had before. Cop Dean is moonlighting as a guard at the hospital and instead finds himself in an impossible situation as his belief system is stretched out of control by a woman he can't forget. Tia and Dean need to work together to solve the problem that seems to have entwined them both.

This was a great story that had lots of mystery and drama elements mixed in with a little romance as Tia and Dean worked through the clues as they found them in order to solve the mystery of the program she was imprisoned by. There was lots of drama and excitement as they worked their way through whatever they were able to find. I loved the way the story developed and the way they worked together. Well written it was easy to read and understand.

#9 Shattered - 5*

Protected and caged by her father for most of her life after doctors can't diagnose what is wrong with her, Hannah keeps trying to escape. When she is caught again lawyer and psychic Trevor offers her a very unique way out - the question is should she trust him and if he finds out the truth will he still be on her side? From his own side, Trevor has been trying to make up for all he did wrong in his youth, so when he gets the opportunity to help a talented waif he jumps at the chance not realising what will be asked from him. As time runs out for them, can they identify their enemies, escape them and come out of the other side?

This was a great story that had many layers of mystery, drama and danger as Hannah and Trevor tried to work their way through all the threats to her as well as teaching her about her own psychic abilities. I liked the twists and turns in the story which meant that you could not predict what was going to happen at the end. They made a great couple and I was thrilled that they were able to defeat those who would threaten them so they could have a happy life together. Well written this story was easy to understand as well as addictive as I got further and further into the story.

Review: Morning Star by Nazri Noor 5 of 5 stars

Morning Star (Sins of the Father Book 3)Morning Star by Nazri Noor

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Belphegor (The Prince of Sloth) had ordered nephilim Mason Albrecht to help awaken nature hybrid Florian but now that is complete Belphegor seems to want help with gardening. However the carnivorous Crimson Gardens seem to contain advances in advances in hagriculture, and the universe’s comfiest California king-sized bed. However infernal and celestial elements seem determined to interfere with Mason's working holiday and he has also attracted the interest of an archangel with a missing sword and an axe to grind. Can he fix all these problems and make sure that everyone stays safe?

This was a great third book in the series that showed Mason coming into himself a bit more and dare I say growing up a bit. It laid a lot of foundations at the end which I can't wait to see how the author will explore in the next book in the series. Well written, easy to understand, this was a fitting book in the world that has been created around this great mixture of gods, mages and all sorts of magical beings. I liked the twist in the story which I hope means they get to work together more in the future. Recommended for anyone who is into paranormal stories.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After Galen comes over from Africa to join Johan at Levi and Ice's compound in the US where they are sent on a job. Joy was looking for a career position but to pay the bills she took a job in order to pay the rent looking after the inventory in a company. But when it shows missing drugs on the inventory

Review: Shatter by Sharon Ashwood 3 of 5 stars

Shatter (Crown of Fae #2)Shatter by Sharon Ashwood

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Tessa Harrison decides to go on a cruise to Alaska but in a parallel to her love life, the voyage appears to be doomed. It appears that her ex (who is now revealed as the fae Sea King) is also aboard and has brought sea monsters with him. The other complication in her life is captain Maxwell Stokes is in charge of the ghost ship Solitude and is the guardian of the gateway between the and human worlds. Stokes's mind was set on vengeance but Tessa is a spoke in those plans as she becomes the person who completes him. So her survival means she has to unlock a destiny she never knew she had, as she becomes the one who is the key to both or the means' future. The question is will she choose right and who will she choose - the one whois telling her the truth or the one who is lying to her?

This was an epic story that felt a little mixed up at times although I stuck with it and got to the bottom of it all eventually. Easy to understand, once I got into the story I did enjoy the way it ended. I think it would be better to read the first book in this series first before you read this one.

Review: Death by Didgeridoo by Barbara Venkataraman 5 of 5 stars

Death by Didgeridoo (Jamie Quinn Mystery #1)Death by Didgeridoo by Barbara Venkataraman

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lawyer Jamie Quinn is still trying to get over the death of her mother when she is reluctantly pulled into a case where her mentally challenged cousin Adam is wrongfully accused and charged with murder. So it falls to Jamie to try and find the real murderer which is exacerbated because the victim is a former rockstar with many enemies. Can she find her way through deception, jealousy and even vengeance?

I loved this story which swept me away into the various plots and subplots that Jamie was having to dig through in order to clear her poor cousin Adam. I found myself reading this faster and faster as I was willing her to get to the bottom of the murder so I would know who did it too. Well written, this was easy to understand and very easy to follow along and keep up with.

Psychic Visions Box Set 4-6 (Psychic Visions)Psychic Visions Box Set 4-6 by Dale Mayer

A great value collection of books - definitely recommended

#4 - Garden of Sorrows - 5*

After the loss of her sister a year ago, Alexis Gordon goes to work and reality disappears for her after Detective Kevin Sutherland (who has some psychic abilities) sees a gift in Alexis he asks his friend Stefan Kronos (a psychic, artist and law enforcement consultant) to help her develop her skills. However, Kevin has never seen a killer with a personal vendetta to stop Alexis from finding out more about him and his long-dead victims. Can they stop the killer and make sure he is really gone?

I loved this story which was full of drama, intrigue, excitement and also the lovely way that a relationship developed between Kevin and Alexis. Well written and very enjoyable, this was a mystery novel which contained physic skills too.

#5 - Knock, knock - 4*

Shay Lassiter is wealthy and beautiful and spends her time running an organisation called the Lassiter Foundation, but all that meant nothing when her fiance tried to murder her. Now she is far more cautious and uses her knack for reading people to save herself heartache. However, when people connected to the foundation start dying in slightly unexpected or mysterious ways she needs to depend on help from the new man in her life. Computer specialist and ex-cop, Roman Chandler has s secret that could ruin his relationship with Shay. Can he get her to trust him and learn more about him while saving Shay when the killer sets their sights on her?

This was definitely a clever psychic mystery wrapped up into a romance between Shay and Roman. There were parts of this story that I found long-winded and monotonous, and there were parts that I really enjoyed (hence the rating). It was well written and very enjoyable to read. The way that Roman rescues Shay at the end was very clever.

#6 - Rare Find - 5*

Tabitha buries herself and her aching heart into her work with the animals at Exotic Landscapes. That works fine until she gets yanked out of her world to help someone in desperate need- problem id she gets a lot more than she bargained for. Detective Ronin Chandler understands secrets as he has some of his own, but when the woman he loves gets into trouble, it stretches his belief system and he struggles to understand how he can help before he loses her. The problem is working out who can be trusted and doing that before it is too late.

I loved this story which had a great mixture of psychic discovery, a murder mystery, a kidnapping and a love story all rolled into one. I loved the way that the various characters communicated with each other and the way that Ronin struggled but still managed to pull himself together and make progress in his own knowledge and psychic skills. Well written and very enjoyable, I couldn't put it down until I had finished it and worked out what was going on.

Review: The Universal Truth of the Matter by Ian Antony 5 of 5 stars

The Universal Truth of the MatterThe Universal Truth of the Matter by Ian Antony

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After four years of peace and staying in the same place on Mercury, Ivor Hooke finds himself back in the world of rebellion and challenging the old order. In order to finish sorting through the what is going on, he is going to have to uncover the secrets of Newearth and what the universe is asking of him. Will he be able to handle the truth when he discovers it and do the right thing or will he make the wrong decision out of fear and take the wrong course of action?

This is the third book in the trilogy and you need to have read the previous two in order to make proper sense of this book. It included more fighting and plenty of surprises as the story moved towards it's ending. I'm sad that it is now over but glad I don't have to wait any longer to find out what happens next. Well written and enjoyable.

Review: The Lane Betrayal by John A. Heldt 5 of 5 stars

The Lane Betrayal (Time Box, #1)The Lane Betrayal by John A. Heldt

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Virginia physicist Mark Lane together with business partner and billionaire Robert Devereaux, develop two time-machine boxes, but just before they are ready to be used he learns that his business partner intends to use them for nefarious purposes. He then, together with his family, decides to do all he can to prevent that and they take them and escape to a relatively safe time towards the end of the American Civil War in 1865. For Mark, his wife Mary, and their children Jeremy, 19, Ashley, 12, Laura, 22 and Jordan, 25 all find chances to grow as people as they all have their own adventures. However back in their home era, Robert Devereaux has a completely different view on the situation and works with the employees to fix a prototype box so that he can send a trained assassin in order to retrieve the time boxes and set matters straight with the Lanes. Will the assassin find them or will they escape?

This was a great story that was incredibly well researched so that all the elements of the story that had a basis, in fact, were accurate. It was a mystery story too which definitely drew me in and kept me dying to find out what was going to happen next. I'm definitely invested in this family and their survival and can't wait to find out what adventures they have in new eras. Well written this was very easy to understand and enjoy. A great series that does not contain bad language nor overtly sexual content.

Review: Academy of the Forgotten by Eva Chase 5 of 5 stars

Academy of the Forgotten (Cursed Studies #1)Academy of the Forgotten by Eva Chase

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Trix learnt at an early age that she couldn't rely on adults - but she could rely on her foster brother Cade. So when he receives a scholarship to Roseborne College and then disappears. So she resolves to go and find him. When she gets there the staff insists he has never been there, the other students glare at her and the classes are all about tormenting she also meets three appealing guys who are very invested in her arrival and safety. There seems to be an unnatural power over the place and as she investigates she finds worse and worse things which suggest that finding Cade is not so important as it looks like absolutely no one will leave the place alive. Can Trix find Cade, survive and work out the mystery of the college's power?

This is the first book in the series and sets out the situation, people and college very well. You can clearly understand what appears to be happening and how that affects everyone. It's turning into a paranormal mystery that is also a reverse harem and at times can also be a thriller too. I liked the differences in the 3 male interests and the way they all reacted differently with Trix. Clearly described and easy to understand this was a great start to the series and has definitely whetted my appetite as to what is going to happen next in the series. Contains no bad language and only very tame sexual content.

Review: Asher by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

Asher (The Mavericks #5)Asher by Dale Mayer

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When SEALs get sick of following rules because they hold them back from doing the right thing they either accept it or walk away. However, for a select few there is an alternative - they can join The Mavericks - a covert black ops team that gets the job done (even if they have to break the occasional rule on the way). In the previous book in this series, Asher Tromblay had helped Beau Madison when Beau too the lead in a mission for the Mavericks and now it was Asher's turn to lead one. He is given the mission of finding a set of female autistic twins in mainland China with an old friend and colleague Ryker as his backup with a plus one which more than raises his eyebrows. The plus one is Mickey who is none other than Asher's ex-fiance and was the nurse who was looking after the twins and with them when they were kidnapped. When Mickey sees Asher and works with him to find the twins she starts to realise what a mistake she made ten years ago. Can they dive through all the layers of betrayals, lies deceit and a growing list of bodies to find out who was really responsible for the kidnapping and who has been on a killing spree? At the end will Mickey get her heart's desire and get a second chance with Asher or will he reject her?

This story had plenty of drama, mystery and action as they travelled through China and worked their way through the complex layers of betrayal, lies, deceit and violence to work out who was responsible for each level of the plot and who should pay for everything that had happened. It way that Asher and Mickey worked through their issues was very realistic and I loved the way that they struggled to see what was happening between them. Well written and easy to understand you do not need to read the previous books in the series to enjoy these books. There is sexual content at the final stages of the story.
