Review: Crown Of Blood by Veronica Shade by Rebecca Hamilton 5 of 5 stars

Crown Of Blood (Academy Of The Damned Book 3)Crown Of Blood by Veronica Shade by

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Madison, Krista, and Ivy find that there’s one way to break the stone statues curse of La Voisin School for Witches, and the secret lies within something called the Soule family book of shadows. However, to locate it they need to perform some blood magic using three not so simple to procure ingredients - the bones of a dead animal, the hair of a drowned girl, and what appears thee simplest an athame made of rubies and gold. The last one actually turns into one of the most dangerous which they never predicted. As Madison gathers the last item needed to perform the spell, she falls into a trap—one set by someone she once trusted an in the process of this she’s finally discovered where the missing students have gone...only to realize she might be the next to disappear. Can they get to the bottom of it all and survive?

I loved this story. It was a major mystery wrapped in history and magic that highlighted a mass of new information for Madison and her friends to discover and process. Each time they were convinced they had made headway another complication reared it's head for them to find a solution and move forward. I loved the hints of involvement for various people some of which I would expect to not be involved and some who definitely will be involved. There were plenty of surprises, twists and turns as they navigated the mysteries and information that they discovered along the way. They clearly had a way forward by the end of the story I just hoped that they would manage to survive everything that was coming at them and find out what to do next. Well written it was very enjoyable.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
