Review: SEALs of Honor: Books 14-16 by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

SEALs of Honor: Books 14-16SEALs of Honor: Books 14-16 by Dale Mayer

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A great value boxset of three Seals of Honor books. Very enjoyable and quite addictive.

#14 - Maklin - 5*

Macklin has had one damaging relationship in his life which he has done his best to avoid Marsha ever since. Alex is a new detective in the Coronado Police force and is determined to make a good impression. When Marsha is murdered and leaving evidence pointing to him, Macklin becomes the main suspect. Alex needs to find the killer soon, and Macklin finally has someone he wants to know better. Can they navigate the tricky case whilst staying in control of their thoughts and emotions until the killer is captured?

Great new story in the SEALs of Honor series. It was nice to see a guy struggling with a stalker as it is so often men stalking a woman, and I liked the torture of getting to know each other without crossing the boundary between a suspect and a lover. Everything was clearly written and clear and easy to understand. Very enjoyable and the ending set up a story for Corey in the next book.

# 15 - Corey - 5*

Corey gets a call from someone from way back in his past needing help but it appears a lot has happened in the past 12 years - both have moved on but Angela is in the middle of a bitter custody battle and very nasty divorce. She may have been married to Greg for 7 years but it is only now that she really understands exactly what he is like and it is not at all nice. Even worse she grabbed some photos of documents as a kind of "insurance" the last time she was in his house which might end up getting her killed. Can Corey help keep her alive as well as rescue her son from his evil father?

So much drama and danger in this story. Corey must have been knocked sideways seeing her again and finding out about her son but he took it all in his stride and handled it like an absolute gent. I loved Corey as a character and I think we could all do with him in our lives taking care of us. A dramatic story with lots of twists and turns which was well written and easy to understand and empathise with.

#16 = Warrick - 4*

Warrick Canton is in Mason's Navy SEAL team and is going crazy being on the sidelines through injury. He is also starting to turn soft longing for a real proper relationship like his mates seems to have. This is made worse when his girlfriend of 3 years dumps him. Feeling sorry for himself he goes to a barbecue at Mason's house and encounters a fiery redhead spitfire called Penny Magnus who he unfortunately already has met - he's intrigued but only she would give him an inch and a second look. Penny Magnus loves her job as a medical insurance clerk but getting some stubborn men to fill in the forms right is almost impossible. She is open to starting a new romance but it has to be someone who is not difficult - she has learnt that from her best friend with such a difficult relationship that Penny had to help her to see she needed to get out of it. However, all thought of potential romances goes out of the window when Penny's best friend's boyfriend contacts her blaming her fr the whole mess and seems determined to punish her for it. Warrick ends up working to keep Penny safe - he just needs to not make any mistakes.

Wow - there is a lot of drama and action in this story. You have the best friend and her boyfriend thing, the simmering hot passion bubbling under the surface between Warrick and Penny and then the determination of the ousted boyfriend to punish Penny for her interference. It all adds up to a mixture of drama, danger and action, interspersed with bits of romance and passion that can make you smile. Well written and fit into the whole world of SEALs that the author has created in this fictitious company with its links to serving and non-servicing SEALs. Well written, an easy read which would work well for a vacation read or just pure escapism.
