Review: Dragon Her Home by Julia Mills 3 of 5 stars

Dragon Her Home (Dragon Guards #23)Dragon Her Home by Julia Mills

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Dragon Guardsman and Paladin Stone is missing his missing twin Sable and we jin him when he is close to death hanging in silver shackled after being tortured extensively. He is fighting not to fall asleep and is determined to go down fighting as any dragon should. However, he has a mate - a fox shifter with seven tails called Annika who as the last of her kind holds all the power of her ancestors. Can they both move past their pig-headedness and learn to work together in order to defeat the threat to her home? Then they will have a chance to builds the life together that the fates are promising.

This was a nice story which had some nice variations to the standard Dragon Guard formula, but in doing that it also had some glaring inconsistencies. I still have no idea what the source of Anika's power is and how it works, I have no idea how she gets supplies for her food if (as she says near the end) likes to cook (especially bake) and finally how did he source the ring from one of his female ancestors if he was not in contact with his kind? Apart from that, it was generally well written, easy to read and enjoyable.
