Wolf A Bye Baby by Rebel West
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Jade Fellows has been short on luck in her life - the combination of student loans and medical bills have meant that she is working two jobs to try and keep her head above water. On a very rare night out she has a one-night-stand with a shifter who goes wild for her curves - however, what should have just been a distraction turns out to be much more than she ever bargained for. Wolf-shifters Dylan and Carter left their Canadian pack to set up a new life together as they are convinced that they cannot be happy unless they find the right woman in order to become a mated triad. However, on a night out, Dylan is convinced he has found her only to have lost her again. After the passionate one-night-stand in a strange hotel room, there was a heat of the moment bite and now a missing mate. Desperate to find her, they turn to the Paranormal Dating Agency for help - can Gerri find Jade and bring them all together for their HEA?
This was a very dramatic story that had a lot of drama and excitement in places. I loved the contrast in personality and approach between Dylan and Carter and how together they really could make a whole. Well written and enjoyable to read I was definitely invested in their relationship and making Jade see that they were right together. Enjoyable story that contains explicit sexual content.

Chef Pomona Maurin’s biggest dream is to be a personal chef for someone famous. She has worked really hard and tested her amazing recipes but not received any recognition until Gerri Wilder discovers her and knows the "stars" who need her skills the most. Dragon shifters Ignazio Karsten and Bryer Vargas are famous celebrities and the reigning Nova Aurora Arena League champions for several seasons running. A vindictive opponent has broken the rules and almost killed Bryer so their streak of success is over as might be their careers. The cure is dedicated training and a strict diet and so they need a chef to make sure they stick to the diet and their hungry dragons are satisfied. When they set eyes on Pomona they know there is just one thing on the menu for them - but can they convince their new chef that they want to share more than just her cooking?
This was a sweet story of misunderstandings and miscommunications that needs a lot of unpicking in order to get to the conclusion of this story. Some of it was great and some of it went a little too far and just become annoying. Well written and easy to read and understand, it was easy to feel and understand their thoughts and emotions. Contains explicit sexual content.

The Way to a Bear's Heart by Ophelia Bell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Nessa Baxter gets the job of her dreams as a friend's personal chef while she waits for the Paranormal Dating Agencies genius matchmaker Gerri Wilder to find her mate for her. While working there she meets a strong and sexy bear shifter bachelor called Gaius who is making the new kitchen that she will have designed for use at the friend's house. Gaius is a former Area Champion who is just alone and aloof although seems to be the perfect match for Nessa who is very strong-willed. They are both left wondering why the matchmaker hasn't already put them together by now and so assume they can't possibly be mates (or at least Nessa is sure of that and is determined not to get too close to Gaius). Gaius on the other hand has had a fire lit in him and there is no way to quench it now he has tasted her and she is in his heart. Can this be sorted out?
This was a sweet story and definitely full of crossed messages between the two as they sorted out their feelings for each other. I loved the way Nessa was determined to not mess things up for her future even though her future was right there in easy reach. Well written and very enjoyable I enjoyed this story which was easy to read and very clear to feel and understand. A good light read that will put you in the mood for romance. Contains sexual content.

Review: Curse of Stone by Veronica Shade by Leigh Anderson by Rebecca Hamilton 4 of 5 stars
Curse of Stone by Veronica Shade by Leigh Anderson by Rebecca Hamilton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Madison has done her best to avoid using her powers as a witch, but she is forced to use them as a deadly storm hits suddenly and she needs to save her best friend - however, it accidentally kills her boyfriend and so she is determined to go to La Voisin School for Young Witches in order to find out how to use her powers correctly (and safely). She knows being behind her classmates is going to be a struggle but she never expected that one of those would be the murder of one of her classmates. Her main thought is if the school is spelled for safety and witches are unable to kill, how did Giselle get murdered and by who? Madison resolves to find how it happened and who was responsible especially as Giselle is currently haunting her. Added to that mystery the biggest one seems to be related to the statues - if only she could ask them.
This was definitely a good book to start the series out as it laid out a lot of the background and key pieces of information that I'm sure will be expanded on as the story is enlarged on in subsequent books. I liked the crazy dynamic between Madison and her mother which could be recognisable by some families even if it didn't involve drugs. Well written, it was easy to understand and I felt invested in Madison and her current car crash of a life. The next instalment will hopefully expand on the key elements of the story as well as introduce new ones.

Review: Bad Angel: An Urban Fantasy Mystery with Fallen Angels and Fated Mates by J.C. Andrijeski 5 of 5 stars
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Dags Jourdain is an angel - just not the kind who has a harp and the celestial chorus, but instead the kind that hunts demons. He now faces a hell-portal that he cannot close, hot movie star Phoenix-X who might be an angel that he cannot be with as well as not stop thinking about and lots of demons that need to be removed from humans the LA area has become very complicated for him. An old friend from high school has turned up asking for help to find his wife (who was also at school with them) as she has mysteriously disappeared he finds himself unable to say no - especially when he finds out that demons are also behind that too. It seems that life is going to be far more complicated than Dags can ever imagine involving anti-angel drugs, guns, pool parties and when the demons strike back Dags might not make it out alive.
OMG, this was definitely an action-packed second book in the series as Dags tried his best to save humans and get rid of all the demons. Through it all, he kept to his belief that he was not going to do anything to activate Nix's angel within her, which was a big ask at times. Looking back at all of his efforts, he just came across as a total jerk who really just needed to bow to the inevitable and stop torturing them both! Well written and easy to read and feel the thoughts and emotions, I just want to give him a massive shake before he really makes everything so much worse. There is a line between being noble/loving and he is really crossing over into the side that is stupid and cruel. I'm definitely intrigued as to what is going to happen in the next book of the series and just hope he mans up and behaves with more consideration to his mate.

Review: I, Angel: An Urban Fantasy Mystery with Fallen Angels and Fated Mates by J.C. Andrijeski 5 of 5 stars
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Dags Jourdain is an angel - just not the kind who has a harp and the celestial chorus, but instead the kind that hunts demons. What that does mean is that he is a social weirdo who likes a rather strange and solitary life due to the fact that he will black out when he flies and will wake up in random places completely naked. He also has to sleep in a windowless room and can't drink alcohol due to a habit of randomly starting fires. He earns his living working as a PI in Hollywood, California around the demon-hunting however, life changes after he gets into a fight against a demon in an alley and saves the life of a movie star. He then discovers that someone has opened a hell portal underneath the Hollywood sign, a dead guy has left him and he has to cope with a homicide detective who hates him since high-school who suspects he is a serial killer. All of a sudden life really sucks. Can he come out of all of this with his life and freedom?
Wow - this was definitely an action-packed story as Dags went from one crisis to another doing his best to remain as the good guy while trying really hard to avoid prison. It was a very fine line that he was trying to stick to but all credit to him as he was able to achieve what he had to do while not getting into really deep trouble. I loved the power that he had when he really needed it and the self-control he was able to keep even though he was relatively inexperienced at what he was doing. I really hope he gets the chance to explore the events he experienced in the next book in the series and that we get to see the actors that he worked with inside this book. Well written, it was easy to feel and understand the thoughts and emotions that the characters were experiencing in this book. I'm looking forward to reading book 2 of this series.

Review: Zack's Zest: A SEALs of Honor World Novel by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars
Zack's Zest: A SEALs of Honor World Novel by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Zack had made mistakes in his life in the past but was determined to move on from it even though it was hard. So he is determined to work on Levi's team to find a new meaning in his life. He ends up part of a two-man team to rescue a kidnapped woman who is the daughter of a former politician. She's very unique and when she learns the detail does not appreciate the rescue. Zadie knows that her father is guilty of the crimes he is accused of, but she is far more concerned about her mother who has always been a downtrodden and obedient wife. But as they dig further into their lives and why they were kidnapped it is no longer quite so clear. Heartbroken as the losses keep mounting, Zadie knows she needs a second rescue which is hopefully by the same rescuer - only this time it is not as simple and it is a lot more dangerous. Can they all come out of this intact?
This was a sweet story that was full of drama, danger, twists, double twists and turns all over the place. I loved the way that everything flowed together and the way that Zack and Zadie ended up having to stick together through it all. Well written and easy to read and understand, it was very enjoyable. Does contain some sexual content at the end.

Review: Gavin by Dale Mayer 5 of 5 stars
Gavin by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Four members of the one family who are owners of a corporation together are kidnapped off the streets and so Maverick Gavin is sent to try and rescue them with an old ex-colleague Bonaparte. The intel all points to corporate espionage but Gavin suspects that is far from the truth although with so many people being involved (including one of his old friends) it's hard to work out who is responsible and why. As Gavin digs deeper events get uglier and bodies start to fall. Rosaline has no idea how she was put in this situation but her prime focus in on her parents who have been separated from her and her older sister. Even when the sisters are freed she can find no sign of her parents and will need to decipher friend from foe in all of the players. It will all come down to the wire as the close family corporation falls apart revealing a core of darkness in the centre of it all which will leave Gavin and Rosaline struggling to stay safe as their enemies work hard to take them both out. Can they get to the bottom of this?
This was a great story that had a lot of drama, twists and turns as they navigated the information as they managed to get further into the story bit by bit. The end of the story when they found out who was behind it all was explosive and definitely very dramatic. On their journey to that, there were a lot of dangers and drama as more and more people were killed by their own side in order to maintain silence. The end character behind it all wasn't such a surprise but certainly, all of the information and so-called justification was. At the end, I was so glad that Gavin had found someone to be happy with. Well written and very enjoyable. Does contain a little sexual content at the end.

Purrfectly Mated by C.D. Gorri
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Tiger shifter Hunter Maverick is having issues finding a mate and the rest of the pride as well as his tiger just want him to find his Neta. Elissa Phoenix is at rock bottom after a blind date has gone wrong she jumps out of his car and decides to walk home - it only took 2 hours to drive there after all. It starts to rain and she is starting to resemble a drowned rat when a strange woman stops her stretch limo and offers Alissa a ride. Elissa decides to trust her gut and gets in - what she doesn't realise is it will be a decision that will change her life forever. Gerri Wilder is on her way to meet the Maverick Pride leader - sometimes fate will help her in her job in ways that will surprise even her. The question is, can Hunter persuade Elissa that shifters exist and convince his pride to give a normal a chance?
This was a good story in the paranormal dating agency series that definitely had the prerequisites of a shifter looking for a mate and a curvy woman in need of a happily ever after. I liked some of the drama and politics that Elissa and Hunter were caught up in and the way it was concluded. Easy to read and understand, there were lots of drama and excitement. Contains sexual content.

Addictive by K.E. Osborn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Wraith is currently the VP of the Houston Defiance MC and is trying to cope with a tortured and destructive past. The President of the Club, Zero, took him in and made him part of the family, but Prinie his younger sister and the club Princess although she has been made clearly out of bounds for Wraith, is just an addiction that he cannot resist, even though he knows that is bloodlust means he must stay away from her. However, when chaos hits at the heart of the club, can they both resist the addiction that they both suffer from, or will the chaos just as easily tear them both apart?
OMG, this was good. I loved the mixture of danger, drama, twists and turns as we navigated our way through this story. At the end of the book, some major twists and turns started to rock the foundations and through it all, they managed to handle what was thrown at them and take the rest of the club with them. The bombshell at the end of the story was interesting and will make for a great next story in the series (which I can't wait to read!). Well written, clear and easy to feel and understand, this is a must-read for anyone who is partial to an MC story with characters who play hard, drink hard and love hard too. Contains explicit sexual content.

Claiming Her Dragons by Lia Davis

Beautiful and curvy Jackie Olsen had a very strong and active sex drive. Even her last boyfriend broke their relationship saying it was too exhausting for her. With no hope of finding what she needs in the human population, she turns to Gerri Wilder at the Paranormal Dating Agency hoping for a shifter or two that can keep up with her desires. However, she finds that at her door the next morning are three very hot dragon shifters who are brothers looking for just one woman.
I loved this story which had a very unusual scenario with so three men to one woman but from what I saw it did work well. I loved the way that they all had their own personalities and wooed Jackie in different ways. I loved the twist about Jackie which I won't give away but it is good. Well written it was clear and easy to understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Dr Vanessa Bryant’s career was ended by the courts and immediately she was contacted by a secret government facility to work as a doctor on another planet. She felt she had no other alternatives and so agreed on the condition that she was not included in the human female surrogate program for alien shifters. When she arrives on planet Daeria she finds her two escorts are very sexy and realises she is going to struggle to stay professional and not go near them. Madden and Kian and dragon shifters and being closer than brothers they would have to share one female surrogate however when they meet the one female who is right for them they hit a problem - she is not in the program. As Vanessa is there as a doctor and not a surrogate some are not happy about her being there. When she disappears Madden and Kian need to not only find her but they need to convince her that they are her mates and that she needs to realise that they would together make the perfect family. Can they save her and get the happiness they all deserve?
This was a great story that had lots of romance, love, drama and danger. I loved the way that their relationship developed and how they interacted as well as the love and respect they directed at Vanessa. The drama and danger was a mixture of predictable and unpredictable elements if you had read the previous books in this series. Well written and very enjoyable to read. Dragons' Jewel by Milly Taiden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Gianna Harris has a mother with Altzheimers who no longer remembers her, and so doesn't think twice about joining a program as a surrogate on an alien shifter planet. When she arrives in Daeria she meets two sexy dragons who claim she is their mate. Voss is the dragon king of the planet and leader of the shifter council. He has a responsibility to rebuild the planet after the war and the surrogate program was supposed to work towards that. But the first set of females were assigned to the wolf shifters, not the dragons until he meets them and realises that they should have been assigned after arrival when they had met shifters to allow for mates. As soon as he and his friend Azar has met them, they realise that Gianna is theirs and so they break some rules to claim their true mate. Unfortunately, a particular wolf wants her enough to start a war.
This is a nice mixture between an alien and a shifter story that has the requisite elements of strife between the races. In the middle of all of that are human females who are strong and feisty and well up to handling these protective men. Arden was definitely a character that I could feel a love/hate for as I did not agree with his attitude and anger but I could empathise with him too. Well written and easy to read and understand. It does contain explicit sexual content.

The Alien Warrior's Woman by Milly Taiden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Guardian Rani Kerf is focussed on her career but when on a mission to rescue a Prince she sees a tall, dark and handsome stranger who just takes her breath away and so her priorities start to change. When the rest of her team on the same mission disappear, she switches to rescue mode and discovers that the gorgeous alien isn't who he seems. Tular Vestijust met the love of his life - Rani is beautiful, funny and smart - but her acting skills are just dreadful. However, he is on a mission and so he has no choice but to let her be the one that got away. Fate has a completely different plan for Tular which definitely includes Rani - that is as long as she can forgive him for his betrayal when he increased the odds for the death of every other member of her team. She will she find out who this man is who has captured her heart and what does he know about her crew?
This was a sweet story which had some really great sections that focussed on the inequality between men and women in different jobs as well as the amazing skills that Rani had to save her entire team. There was plenty of action and drama in this story which was well written and sensitively told. It was easy to understand and feel the thoughts and emotions of some of the characters. Contains some explicit sexual content.

Review: Jaxson by Alisa Woods 3 of 5 stars
Jaxson by Alisa Woods
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Jaxson River is a former SEAL and a shifter. He loves his brothers Jace and Jared and would gladly give his life for them but he has a serious problem - if he doesn't claim a mate soon he'll be forced to step down as the pack alpha which will likely cause the pack to dissolve. This is especially problematic for him as he has a dark secret that would kill any mate that he claimed. His primary focus at the moment is to work with his brothers in order to stop whoever is currently kidnapping shifters from the street and stop them - it is clearly not the time for his secret to come out. Olivia Lilyfield is a curvy half-witch orphan who is determined to atone for it by doing good in the world. She starts to work on that when she sees a wolf in an alley being tortured and so rushes to help even though wolves and witches are like oil and water. Her dangerous magic means she can let anyone get too close to her, but Jaxson can't keep his hands off her and she is incapable of resisting. As they race to save the disappearing shifters in Seattle the real danger might be loving each other. Can their secrets end up destroying them both?
This was a nice story that had some dramatic moments mixed into their inability to keep their hands off each other. The underlying story of those responsible for taking the shifters had the potential to be really interesting and dramatic and so I just hope it gets that way in the later stories in the series. Well written and easy to understand, it had sections that were really enjoyable. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Claiming Mia by Alisa Woods 4 of 5 stars
Claiming Mia by Alisa Woods
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Alpha Lucas lost his mate and is broken - he feels he cannot be fixed and is determined that he cannot pick another as he won't be responsible for another death. However, when he sees a human woman attacked by the predatory Red Wolf Pack he is enough of an alpha to rescue her, but when she turns up as the new intern in his office the next morning she stirs up some feelings that he needs to keep buried. Mia is just trying to earn her degree and dig her way out of poverty. As part of that, keeping her shifter nature secret is key, but when she does an internship at the hotted dot com development firm in Seattle with the hottest boss who is also a wolf shifter - the one who just saved her life. She would break all the rules for this guy too - however, he wants absolutely nothing to do with her. However, the Red Wolf Pack are after her and so Mia finds herself in the middle of a pack war with nowhere to run and the one guy who could save her is the one guy who seems to want nothing to do with her. Can Mia be saved and claimed by the one wolf that she wants?
This was a sweet story wrapped into the middle of two other stories - one was the war between the two packs and the other story was the torment of Lucas over his mate's death and whether he could find the strength to move on and give love another chance. It was full of lots of drama and excitement as well as internal and external pack politics which was quite refreshing to read. I loved the relationship between Mia and her roommate at college which was quite a lot of fun as well as support for each other. Well written, this was clear and easy to understand. Contains some explicit sexual content.

Review: Ice by Michelle M. Pillow 3 of 5 stars
Ice by Michelle M. Pillow
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Three male aliens from the planet of Sintaz decide to travel away from their frozen world with the Galaxy Alien Mail Order Brides to Earth in the hopes of finding themselves a willing human woman. Eldest brother Izotz is given the rather strange name of Ice Storm Chaos as part of his false identity (his brothers are called Edur (now known as Frost Chaos) and Tushar (now known as Snow Chaos)). This story focuses on Ice and how he found the woman for him (I assume their stories are the next two in the series). When they arrive on Earth they are ambushed and Ice is captured by Elle (who had no idea aliens existed and thought the job was just an easy way to earn an income). However, as time passes she realises that she regrets catching the blue coloured alien who is in a cage and being experimented on like an animal. Now she is wondering if her building attraction means that if she can ignore the colour of his skin whether he can ignore and forgive her for capturing him in the first place? I guess there is only one way to find out.
This was a sweet story that was a little slow in places and fast in others as they went from capture to jailor, to freedom and a battle to stay free and together. The story was fairly fast-moving and the detail given was a little light in places, but it was clear and easy to understand. There was plenty of discussion of sex and sexual positions as the story developed and so this is definitely a book for mature readers only. A good light read, but certainly not a complicated story.

Review: Dark Champion by Eva Chase 5 of 5 stars
Dark Champion by Eva Chase
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Saorsa now knows what she really is with the help of her 4 monster lovers and that, unfortunately, means that the most powerful monsters fear her (or what she is) and want to stamp out her very existence. Add to her list of tasks that they are still trying to destroy the Company of Light and the psycho monster who has teamed up with them, and she really does appear to be between a rock and a hard place. She has also discovered that the demon lover who was her strongest ally has been caught in the middle where both his freedom and his life are on the line. Can she control her powers and find a way to solve all of these problems, or will she be consumed?
This is an action-packed final instalment in the Flirting with Monsters series which will not disappoint whether you want to see more of Saorsa with the monsters, the Company of Light, the psycho monster and even the other characters as everything works it's way into an explosive conclusion. I loved the way everything came together and the final conclusion which was definitely not quite how I had anticipated it finishing. Well written and easy to read, feel and understand, I was completely hooked on the story and was unable to put my copy down as I read through it. My only disappointment was that the series is complete and there are no further adventures for these characters in the future.

Review: Lance by Dale Mayer 5 of 5 stars
Lance by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
After friend Iain had sent him photos and insisted they had not been altered in Photoshop, injured ex-SEAL Lance Mayfair decided to give Hathaway House a chance hoping it is the answer to his prayers. If he can regain his ability to play music again then he'll think that the pain is worth all the hard work he has in front of him. But can he get past the shoulder injury that seems to be a guaranteed that this dream is just not possible? Nurse Jessica has worked with many patients during her time there, but she seems to connect with Lance in a way that she did not with the others. She can see his need to heal through music and so that quickly becomes her goal t00 - to see him play music so that he plays music in his soul again too. Only his music isn’t all he wants or needs, and making him happy goes a long way to making her happy, but it’s not enough. Both want and need so much more.
This was a really sweet story of how an instant connection between two people slowly developed into a sense of camaraderie and how that developed into a love that snuck upon them both. I loved the way that everything wasn't smooth sailing and how they both managed with the help of the staff of Hathaway House to move past those doubts and roadblocks. The ending was really special and well worth the wait. Well written, the writing was clever and intelligent as it wove a picture of how love can creep up on you.

Review: Killer in the Kiwis by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars
Killer in the Kiwis by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
As the day arrives for sorting out the addition to Doreen's deck, she is overwhelmed with joy to see the many volunteers who have arrived - most of them are cops who are friends of Corporal Mack Moreau and are grateful for all her help solving cold cases for them. However, before the deck can be finished duty calls and they are called away on a case - another grey-haired lady has dropped dead of an apparent heart attack even though most of them do not have a pre-existing heart condition either. With the three animals at her side, Doreen is determined to figure out what the ladies had in common, plus there is the mystery of why each case involves a kiwi fruit. As she starts to dig into their lives, Doreen will discover some shocking things from the past but maybe the final answer is even more shocking.
This was a great story as we had the progress of the deck as well as the investigation into the mysterious deaths of the elderly ladies which in many ways was getting closer to Doreen and her precious Nan. I loved the way that this story was woven carefully into Doreen's world and how it can close to intruding into her own life. Well written and really enjoyable, I loved the way that the case and real-life were woven into a single story which seamlessly moved between the two. I'm just dying to find out what is going to happen in the next story which is sounding very close to home.

Review: The Kingless Crown by Sarah M. Cradit 5 of 5 stars
The Kingless Crown by Sarah M. Cradit
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
In the Kingdom, there are four Reaches and twenty years ago the current king cunningly devised a plan to marry the highborn sons of and daughters quickly to each other to stop them constantly being at war with each other. The side effect of that was to shatter the existing betrothals that were already in place. Cruel and some would say he was the evil son of the original king, Eoghan is now a boy-king having stolen his crown through murder is now demanding the eldest daughters of these unions - the accept this demand is unfathomable but also to refuse it is considered treason. The lords and ladies prepare their daughters for the horrors ahead as they have no stomach for a fight, but they soon discover that their daughters have taken matters into their own hands and have disappeared. However, they are not the only ones, as across the entire kingdom signs of rebellion are appearing everywhere. As the lords and ladies prepare to face the king, the entire kingdom is havering on the edge of chaos, and no one can tell what is going to happen next.
Wow. This is the start of an epic series that has plot lines that if they were drawn out would rival that of a diagram of a computer circuit board. We are taken through the history and the background of the current situation before we start to experience life from the viewpoint of the various players in the story. While I found the story slow and heavy going at the start, I do admit that you need to be prepared to read all of that to understand the story going forward too. So many things happened in this first book in the series that I am really intrigued as to what is going to happen next when we get to the next book. Well written and easy to read and understand, you will need to treat this as a marathon at first before you then start to motor through the book as you get more and more addicted to the story and what is going to happen next.
