Review: Lance by Dale Mayer 5 of 5 stars

Lance (Hathaway House)Lance by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After friend Iain had sent him photos and insisted they had not been altered in Photoshop, injured ex-SEAL Lance Mayfair decided to give Hathaway House a chance hoping it is the answer to his prayers. If he can regain his ability to play music again then he'll think that the pain is worth all the hard work he has in front of him. But can he get past the shoulder injury that seems to be a guaranteed that this dream is just not possible? Nurse Jessica has worked with many patients during her time there, but she seems to connect with Lance in a way that she did not with the others. She can see his need to heal through music and so that quickly becomes her goal t00 - to see him play music so that he plays music in his soul again too. Only his music isn’t all he wants or needs, and making him happy goes a long way to making her happy, but it’s not enough. Both want and need so much more.

This was a really sweet story of how an instant connection between two people slowly developed into a sense of camaraderie and how that developed into a love that snuck upon them both. I loved the way that everything wasn't smooth sailing and how they both managed with the help of the staff of Hathaway House to move past those doubts and roadblocks. The ending was really special and well worth the wait. Well written, the writing was clever and intelligent as it wove a picture of how love can creep up on you.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
