Review: One More Try by B. Ripley 5 of 5 stars

One More Try (Red Door Daddies #2)

One More Try by B. Ripley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tiernan had it all until everything came crashing down when Daniel who was one of his two Daddies died suddenly and then the other one Joel was just lost. Tiernan felt bereft and unwanted and so did the only thing he could do and left. Two years later Tiernan was living on the streets when he returned to the home they all lived together in to see Joel and give him back something. It becomes apparent that Joel is broken as he is quieter, sadder and a lot more willing to let Tiernan get away with pushing boundaries and being a brat. He needs Tiernan to mend him as what he wants from his Daddy is one more try.

I loved this story as the relationship between Daniel, Joel and Tiernan was so very special and it was heartbreaking to read about Daniel's death and the way it broke the two men. I could feel real emotions from both men as they tried to work through their grief and their relationship as they tried to find a way to stay together. I loved that they were both all in and that both tried hard to support each other and give whatever the other man needed. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like Daddy/boy relationship.

Review: Drop Dead Demon by B. Ripley 3 of 5 stars

Drop Dead Demon (Possessive Love)

Drop Dead Demon by B. Ripley
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

From the moment demon Roth saw Brady he knew he was his mate. As a child, he thought Roth was just an imaginary friend then Roth had to leave him as his father imprisoned him fearing he would take over from him. After being freed it becomes clear that his father picked the wrong mate to worry about - Brady is beautiful and terrifying. Brady had been a lonely child but Roth was all he could count on even if he wasn't real. But as Brady got older Roth disappeared like all imaginary friends should and Brady started his career as a runway model. When Roth reappears Brady knows he is loved, powerful and his.

I found this story had to get into as there was too little interaction between Roth and Brady that was real enough that I could relate to. I also found the interaction and involvement of Milo to be a little surreal too. Legend was just surreal. It was easy to read, I just didn't feel or enjoy it very much. This is an MM story with mature content.

Review: One More Song by B. Ripley 3 of 5 stars

One More Song

One More Song by B. Ripley
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The only person homeless Hobie can count on is himself. He has learnt to survive on the street and has found Daddies the best mark as if he pretends to be their boy for just the one night he can take money, food and clothes from them. Then he made a mistake and tried to steal from a Daddy who believes he sees something in him that is more than the street rat that he is. He wants to give back the music, to have him fed, clothed and safe plus happier Does he really need a real Daddy?

Trigger warnings: physical violence, homophobia, sex work and description/discussion of sexual violence.

There were bits of this story that I loved and bits that I didn't. I thought it minimised the danger that Hobie was in doing sex work to get money on the street and that the rules and agreement between Ambrose and Hobie were too brief for any kind of BSDM-type relationship. On the plus side, I loved the way that Hobie was with Gerald and how he calmed him down (especially on the street) and the way that Ambrose used touch to help Hobie to relax and understand that BSDM was not all about pain and punishment. Easy to read and understand. This contains mature content around a BSDM-like DDLB relationship.

Review: A Little Christmas: Morrie by B. Ripley 5 of 5 stars

A Little Christmas: Morrie

A Little Christmas: Morrie by B. Ripley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Morrie is a Little and he learned early in his life that gentle hands and friendly smiles hid darkness underneath so he shies away from them and puts up barriers to stop others from getting too close. When Scott walked into the Red Door nightclub on the one night of the week that Morrie had let himself be who he really is inside Morrie was struck by the man's kindness, patience and understanding. When Scott promises him a Christmas that he has never seen before he is both excited and dreading the fact that it will not last and everything in his life will go back to normal soon. Is Scott the Daddy of Morrie's dreams or did Santa get it wrong?

Morrie was so damaged and it seems that no one was prepared to take everything as slowly as he needed in order to make him comfortable and believe that it was true. This was a heartbreaking story and I admit to crying as his dreams started to come true and someone actually cared about him for real. Easy to read, feel and understand. There is mature MM content in this BSDM like DDLB type story. This novella is part of the A Little Christmas series where the stories are all stand-alone and can be read in any order.
