Aster’s energy and enthusiasm were a joy — especially in the discovery of the data‑centre plot and the determined fight to stop it. One of my favourite parts was how sensitively they handled each other’s sexuality and identity. Aster being trans was treated with care and respect, and Mickey’s unwavering recognition of him as a man added a beautiful layer of trust to their growing relationship. The whole book was easy to read, feel, and understand, full of warmth, gentle humour, and the kind of emotional clarity that makes small‑town romances so satisfying. As always with this series, the familiar shenanigans, mischief, and unpredictable fae drama were front and centre, giving the story its trademark charm. The dynamic between the three characters was fun to follow, and Stygian’s presence stirred up exactly the kind of trouble you expect in this universe. There wasn’t much exploration of emotions and feelings, but that’s mostly due to the shorter length of the story. Even so, the tension, the supernatural allure, and Oswald’s growing unease made it a fun, fast read. This was an MM story with mature content and set in the omegaverse.

I also really appreciated how Reed’s workplace challenges, especially the homophobia and prejudice directed at his students, were handled. Those moments added depth and grounded the story in real‑world emotion. Their relationship grew with care, warmth, and a steady pull that felt impossible to ignore. The mystery surrounding the final stages of Hank’s military career was gripping and added tension to the emotional journey. Paxton’s determination to grow the family meadery while slowly getting to know Callum was wonderful, and the pull between them was immediate and undeniable. Their connection had warmth and charm, but Callum’s slow, painful decision‑making at the end definitely affected my rating; it dragged out a moment that should have felt clearer and more confident. There were emotions and feelings throughout that were all easy to understand although I would have loved even more depth. But it also stretched belief at times — especially the idea that someone trapped in animal form for decades could suddenly use the internet, learn how to be a Dom, restart his life, and be wealthy. Those leaps made the story feel uneven. Still, I did enjoy it overall. The mix of humour, affection, and paranormal chaos kept things engaging, and the emotional beats were easy to feel and understand.
