Summer Delgado is a private investigator and she goes to see Gerri Wilder in the hopes that she can find her mouse of a sister Winter a man. She is very clear with Gerri that she is not interested in finding a man as she has no time for romance. Gerri asks her to investigate the break-in she had to her apartment but it appears that Gerri has other plans as there is a bear shifter that Summer bumped into in the lift and she needs to take herself in hand to try and ignore the pull of him. Bear shifter Quinn Teddy is the alpha of his pack and he has been visiting her weekly trying to get Gerri Wilder'd recipes to use in his B&B business as well as his focus on helping his ailing father. He also has a mystery of a missing mother and twin brother. So when he bumps into Summer in the lift his bear immediately reacts and tells him that he just met his mate. He really doesn't have the time for this but he also cannot stay away. As a gifted PI Summer agrees to help Quinn and together they follow a new trail of clues but the test is going to test their budding relationship and also put Summer's life on the line. Quinn will do everything he can to keep her alive but the question is, can they come out of this intact?
This was certainly a dramatic story that had a couple of mysteries that needed investigation in parallel. As Summer and Quinn worked on the two different mysteries it was great to see their relationship developing and becoming more permanent. There was a lot of drama and danger at the end of the story and it really was on a knife-edge as to whether Summer was going to come out of everything alive. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.
