The Mixtape by Brittainy C. Cherry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Emery has never felt so alone - raising her daughter is both a pleasure and a pain for her - she has no one to help them and so any late bill or unexpected expense could completely sink them. Rock Star Oliver Smith is still reeling from the death of his twin and bandmate Alex and is trying really hard to drink his problems away. Sadly the paparazzi are not far away to capture his torment. Oliver could have gone to any bar in California but he went to the one that Emery work in and she helps him lose the crowd. They find themselves alone with so many similarities between them. Can they find solace together and find the strength and love to move forward.
I loved this story. It had so many pieces of good advice and tender moments between them. I loved her daughter Reece and the way that she was central to the story. A real lesson in love, moving past grief, finding strength and friendship. Easy to read and understand. I could really feel the emotions from the characters and was moved by some of the moments near the end of the book. A great book that was very enjoyable.
