Cat Maccon is as tough as nails - she had to be growing up in an all-male household. Now she is on a mission to prove herself - something that causes no end of grief for her older brother Rafe Maccon who is the Alpha of the Macconwood Pack. So she joins the Maccon Country Sheriff's Department where she wants to be taken seriously by one particular Wolf Guard member - Tate Nighthawk who is tall, rugged, handsome and the stuff of her dreams. When she is targetted by their enemies that are led by rogue Werewolf Skoll, Rafe assigns Cat her own bodyguard and knowing how she will react he gives her the one guard who won't be taken in by her - Tate Nighthawk. Tate takes his job seriously and even though she is his perfect woman he won't let that interfere with his protection of her. When they are stuck in the woods alone together their past catches up with them can she find true love with the man of her dreams or will it be too much for Tate to handle?
I loved this story which was a fated mate scenario along with a forbidden love vibe. I was thrilled when they had the time together in the woods to finally sort out their relationship and give in to the obvious - that they were meant for each other. I'm not convinced they covered what happened to the guys who were after her but there was a nice surprise at the end. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains some sexually explicit content.
