Agent Breaker by Godiva Glenn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Honey Badger shifter Breaker Barrileaux is an agent in the FPU and has a no-nonsense attitude as well as a strong will to succeed. So when I missing person case arrives on his desk he goes to interview the first suspect assuming the case will be easy to solve. Victoria Amsel is a witch who specialises in shadow magic and finds herself in an interrogation room with the world's most cantankerous (but attractive) male FPU agent. Suddenly she is wanted both by the law and by Breaker. For something which started as something simple becomes very puzzling and Breaker has to protect Victoria as it appears that she is being framed by the unknown villain. Breaker knows better as she is his mate and he refuses to accept her as a guilty woman. What does he have to do to prove her innocence while also taking down the actual killer?
I really enjoyed this story which had abrasive Breaker disbelieving that they are mates while also doing everything he can to protect her as he knows deep down she is completely innocent. It was interesting to see the way that they were both giving out mixed signals but at the end of the day had to accept that they were mates and needed to apologise and try to move on. I loved the way that the story ended and the way they seemed to be a family unit that after everything else could not be torn apart. Well written and a great light read to take you away from real life. Contains explicit sexual content.
