Charlie feels like he's drowning. After his parents were executed, his life crumbled at his feet, and he can't lose the only family member he has left. Even if it means accepting a seat within the inner circle of the Business, the crime organisation he wants nothing to do with. Even if it means going on a dangerous mission to earn his seat in their ranks. But when that assignment leads him to a trip down memory lane and he comes face-to-face with the guy who used to be his best friend, he knows he's being challenged to change his life, and regain his strength. He must trust the one man who seems to want to help him. The man who's claiming his very existence. Samuel is a man with a simple dream: become a martial arts instructor and claim the man he's wanted for as long as he can remember. The mysterious boy he worshipped from afar when they were just teenagers, the shy guy who stumbled back into his life when he joined the Business, the broken man he's now sworn to protect. Charlie's haunted by nightmares and horrors from his past, terrified of letting anyone in. But he won't be able to escape Samuel. He was always his from the beginning.
I loved this story with Charlie struggling with his mental health problems after his parent's murders in his childhood and all of the emotions and feelings around that contrasted with the love and devotion towards him from Samuel. The involvement of his childhood friend Ezra was a puzzle but he did help. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
