Review: Axel by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

Axel (SEALs of Honor #24)Axel by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Axel's latest assignment is to help in an underwater rescue of an experimental submarine that not working and is low on oxygen. When they get there it is nothing like they expected - instead, they find that everyone on the crew is dead except for the one member and those deaths were caused by being shot. The surviving one is badly injured and the big mystery is what happened down there. Allee woke up in a hospital and can barely remember how she got there. She has a very fuzzy memory of what happened onboard and that is not going to help her case when she as the one survivor is the sole focus of the investigation by the authorities. As the investigation turns to her as the cause it gets so much worse when whoever caused it decides that a dead patsy is better than one who can talk. Can Axel keep Allee alive and find out exactly who is to blame for the tragedy onboard the sub?

This was certainly a dramatic story that covered many emotions from danger to revenge and love all in the same story. I liked the way that Axel's protection instincts kicked in for Allee and by working together they then were able to convert that to a relationship and love. Lots of mystery around who was behind the killings and the notice for it which took a fair bit of investigation as well as memories in order to work it all out. Well written and very enjoyable. Contains some sexual content at the end of the story.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
