Living with his brother Rokul and his human mate Tella was enough interaction with humans for Takar. His life in the military has taught him to be controlled and restrained - something that humans seem to be incapable of. But when a curious human woman bursts into his duty station he can't stop thinking about her, so when she plunges into danger he'll ignore his own rules if it means he can keep her safe. Scientist Daphne wants to know everything about everything - for all the questions in the world she wants answers. When Takar is sent to retrieve her from an unauthorised field trip she is beyond annoyed, but when they are both trapped in tunnels she realises that she has just as many questions about the gruff Skotan warrior. Who is he, why does he send heat through her and why does she want to run her hands across his chest?
I enjoyed this story which had yet another impulsive human woman who drags a Skotan warrior into a situation that then develops into a love that involves a determination to protect each other while still learning more about their environment. I loved the details of the entity controlling the vines all over the planet and the way that they were able to bring together the right people in order to do something about it. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.
