Amira is not interested in making friends as everyone has either left her, died on her or laughed at her own dreams. So when her planet is invited by aliens right as she is about to do the only thing she has left So when she hears a rumour that the alien warship is soon to leave them, she decides that she is done and will be the one to do the leaving. But she still wants to help the refugees sheltering on the Vengeance. So when one of the green-skinned alien's makes her a proposal, it's only for the other humans that she considers it. Daxion was the big brother of the team and had learnt to cope with anything even before he joined the alliance against the Xathi, but tiny prickly Amira spikes his curiosity and his desire. So he is determined to keep her safe and his new mission is to work his way around the barriers around her heart. But with the war against the Xathi taking a new turn, will they have a chance?
I enjoyed this story which showed how Daxion learnt that in order to have a happy Amira he just needed to be supportive and help her to realise her dreams. I loved how she blossomed as soon as she felt useful and was able to do what she wanted to do. His devotion to her was really quite touching. As for the identity of the bad person, I had started to wonder if it was him as he was SO negative. Easy to read and understand. Contains some explicit sexual content.
