Review: Crown City by John A. Heldt 5 of 5 stars

Crown City (Time Box, #5)

Crown City by John A. Heldt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Two years after stealing the portable time machines from his deranged billionaire business partner Robert Devereaux the Lane family have arrived in 1963 and they have settled in Coronado in California. The three oldest children (Jordan, Jeremy and Laura) have some respite so that they can nurture their own relationships and start their families while putting down roots. The youngest Askley can thrive and be a typical fourteen-year-old for the time in high school. While there she finds popularity and romance after a classmate nominates her for freshman homecoming princess. Mark Lane's old business partner is still determined to get the time machines back and has sent hit man Silas Baines after the family. Can the family survive what is likely to prove the final confrontation and will Randy's careful preparation to sink Robert finally come to fruition?

I found it bittersweet to read this final instalment of the time box series. It was wonderful to once again read all about the family and their exploits (this time in 1963 around the time of the Kennedy assassination) and to finally get a conclusion to the multi historic year hunt for the family and the determination of hitman Silas Baines. Although they appeared to have tied up all the loose ends I do now wonder if any of them had to serve in Vietnam, what happened to Ashley - did she get to college, what did she study, did she end up with their neighbour for example. However, I did love the way that Robert and Silas were handled and their demise. Well written so that everything eas clear and easy to understand plus I felt as if I was living it. I love the way that this author meticulously researches each time that the series is set and I'm sure anyone who actually lived through 1963 would be able to relate to this book very well. I think you could read this stand-alone but really would get the best enjoyment if you read the series from the start.

Review: Dragon's Temptation by Miranda Martin 3 of 5 stars

Dragon's Temptation (Red Planet Dragons of Tajss, #15)

Dragon's Temptation by Miranda Martin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Ashlee is a human who was in the ship that crashlanded on Tajss and is currently working in the lab as a scientist. She then realises that it is not actually what she wants to do and so jumps at the chance to travel and meet with the Zmaj known as "The Order" with the aim of creating friendly communications so she can return home. She thinks it will be a no-brainer but in actual fact, it is anything but. Then she meets Khal - the Zmaj brother of Archion who has guided his mate Nora together with Ashlee back home to introduce them to The Order. They are greeted with suspicion and after a time both Ashlee and Khal cannot resist the pull between each other and become much more. Eventually, they get past the suspicion thanks to Nora and can return back with a commitment to more dialogue and communication. As part of that, Ashlee and Khal acknowledge that they are mates and she finally has both a new purpose and someone special.

I enjoyed this story although it was almost a third through the book before Khal and Ashlee met each other. I enjoyed his struggle against his duty and the woman who was clearly meant for him (and was relieved when he finally saw the light). Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content. A couple of themes that I look forward to being expanded on in later books in the series.

Review: Feathers Afire by Mireille Chester 3 of 5 stars

Feathers Afire (Crimson Moon Hideaway)

Feathers Afire by Mireille Chester
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Fire demon Jens is utterly dreading his twenty-fifth birthday. Others might be excited at claiming a bride and locking in his magic, he really doesn't care - how can he when he fell in love with a human when he was eight years old? Kit is only a human, but she is the only person who can keep him calm when his flames get out of control. She is also refusing to be the reason he doesn't become the powerful fire demon that he is meant to be. So when his mother invited Kit to his birthday weekend at the Crimson Moon Hideaway Resort for his choosing ceremony, Jens is devastated as she is the only woman that he wants and yet is the only one who is there and off-limits. Will this be their last weekend together or does Fate have a bigger plan that no one could have predicted?

I enjoyed this story which had started as a bit of an impending disaster but thankfully it morphed into something which ended up being quite beautiful and an amazing match. Easy to read and understand plus this is a shorter novella-length story. It fit well into the Crimson Moon Hideaway Resort. Contains some explicit sexual content.

Review: Dragon's Heart by Miranda Martin 3 of 5 stars

Dragon's Heart (Red Planet Dragons of Tajss, 10)

Dragon's Heart by Miranda Martin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Human Kate has had enough as it was bad enough to be on a ship that crashed on the hot desert planet of Tajss but the self-appointed leader of the human women who are left Annabel is a complete bitch who just bullies people. After an argument that is the final straw Kate and a few others leave the tunnels they have been living in to try and find a better life. Zmaj Errol is hiding from what he can remember of his past and lives as part of the Tribe. Some of the other Zmaj males have found their mates among the human females but none of them is his own and therefore the sever foot tall craftsman has no future. While trying to outrun his memories he finds Kate which leads to the past and present colliding and forever changing his future.

I enjoyed this story which expanded a little on the stories of the human women who crash-landed on Tajss as well as the Zmaj and what happened in their past. Through it all there was the story between Kate and Errol and how they developed their relationship and that seemed the usual form of a rapid transition from protector to mate. I did like that Kate was feisty and not prepared to sit by and let someone else get injured defending her. I really hope Annabel comes to a grisly end in a later book (sorry). Easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.

Review: Angel Who Fell by J.C. Andrijeski 5 of 5 stars

Angel Who Fell (Angels in L.A. #5)

Angel Who Fell by J.C. Andrijeski
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In the previous book of the series, Dags Jourdain learned a great deal of the truth of who and what he is - and it pretty much has broken him while he works through what it means. He can now see himself, his life and even his relationships as being damned and the thought of doing or inflicting that on others is making his stomach churn. And so he has run away to think about it and protect everyone who he loves or could destroy. He just cannot be what his dark brother Uri wants him to be and cannot accept that he has to be that way as it is fate - Dags just cannot find any joy in being the evilest thing in existence. Then school friend Kara Mossman calls needing his help and he just can't turn her down and so finds himself in the middle of a murder investigation where the prime suspect is a ten-year-old kid. The deaths seem to be savage, motiveless and have the marks of being something supernatural. So Dags rejoins the normal world and faces the truth that he had been avoiding including the fallout from everyone he left behind - especially from his movie start girlfriend Phoenix X who really hasn't dealt with his vanishing act well at all. Can he save the boy, solve the murder case, handle brother Uri, work on who/what he is AND makeup with Phoenix?

Wow - this was definitely an action-packed story that involved a lot of information about Dags and his identity woven around the story of the boy who committed the murders and the supernatural beings who were the instigators of those murders. I loved the way that Dags was able to find out more about who and what he is as well as his reaction to that knowledge. Phoenix's reaction to his return was quite amusing and it definitely made me laugh at his punishment - he really does need some kind of relationship guidance in the next book because he really does push his luck! What happened at the end was just great - my husband thinks I'm mad after the whoop I gave when I read that section lol I'm intrigued as to where he is going to go now, what he will do with this new knowledge and if there will be any comeback after his actions. I also really hope that he follows through on all his promises to Phoenix. Well written, easy to read and understand. Completely addictive.

Review: Alien Embrace : A Limited Edition Collection of Sci Fi Alien Romances by Milly Taiden 3 of 5 stars

Alien Embrace : A Limited Edition Collection of Sci Fi Alien Romances

Alien Embrace : A Limited Edition Collection of Sci Fi Alien Romances by Milly Taiden by Ava Hunter by Margo Bond Collins
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A good value collection of alien stories. Some good ones interspersed with some ok ones. A good introduction to the authors as well as their writing. Think of it as a good value taster menu of alien story focused writers. Can contain some violence as well as sexual content.

Suddenly Taken by Milly Taiden and Ava Hunter - 4*
Jo was strong and festy, knowing exactly what she does (and does not) want whereas Chuck is just gentle. A quick read which left me saddened as I wanted to know more.

Caged Beast by Honey Phillips - 3*
Good characters on a prison planet with lots of hints as to what will come later. A reasonable start to a series that makes you want to read more.

Skoar by Ava Ross - 4*
This story was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster with instant love and finite time to change.

Rescued from the Depths by Ella Maven - 3*
A quick read that has two souls meeting in an unlikely place with a lifetime to sort out all of the details.

Earth 4040 by Eva Priest - 3*
The universe can wait
A prison planet that started with chaos but ended with contentment. This was definitely just a start and there must be plenty of stories to tell about the other characters mentioned in this one. A promising start that might be just enough to spark our curiosity.

The Recruit by Danielle Kaheaku - 3*
Wow - cat aliens. An interesting concept that I had never seen nor thought about. I think this might be well worth exploring by finding other books by the author.

Drasher by Harpie Alexa - 3*
Lots of emotions, actions and heroism in order to start the addiction process. An interesting light read that has definitely sparked my curiosity.

First Warrior by Tia Didmon - 3*
A great story that has demonstrated a talent for relating detail in relatively few words. A pleasant read.

Ice Planet Prison by Alexis B. Osborne - 3*
This was an example of a strong female lead who is not over the top as part of being strong. An enjoyable story.

Review: Stolen by Presley Hall 4 of 5 stars

Stolen (Fated Mates of the Kalixian Warriors, #2)

Stolen by Presley Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Harper was a CEO on Earth before her kidnapping by Orkuns, and whilst the Kalaxian warriors have rescued them, that doesn't mean that she can trust them nor that she is prepared to take orders from any of them. Therefore, she is determined to steal a spaceship and go back to Earth so she can punish those who conspired to get rid of her. As for Matlav, yes he is utterly gorgeous with his horns and his colour-changing eyes, but there is no way they are fated mates even if his prowess in the gladiator ring makes her heart beat faster! And so she has a secret - she is going to steal a ship and get herself home and no one is going to stop her.

I enjoyed this story with the feisty Harper who manages to show some compassion for Matlav which is the complete opposite of her hard-nose go get them persona that she has when she is in a determined CEO mode. Matlav was great as he was also not interested in finding a mate until he realised that he actually did have one. I was thrilled that they eventually had a HEA and that they were able to try and help their friends too. Easy to read and understand, it contains explicit sexual content.

COVER REVEAL - Pirate’s Paradox (Sentinels of Savannah Book 6) by Lisa Kessler

Pirate Caleb Graves may be an immortal, but he’s also a navigator and a man of science. And yet he can’t explain the erratic tides threatening Savannah. Nor the terrible dreams of sailing through a vicious, supernatural storm that he keeps having. But when fascinating, petite dynamo Diana Williams marches up to his ship and demands to speak to the captain, Caleb is caught up in a wave of unexpected fear…and an electric frisson of longing for this captivating woman.

Diana wouldn’t be a true psychic if she didn’t listen to her spirit guide. So when dream after dream compels her to visit specific coordinates in the Atlantic, she can’t ignore it. Now, she just needs a ship. Good thing she knows about a particular pirate ship that’s in tip-top shape. Complete with a surly, albeit hot, navigator who doesn’t immediately believe in her visions. But no matter how much Caleb objects, she’ll risk sending the entire crew—including herself—to the
uncharted ocean.

But both their dreams could be the key to saving Savannah and may even be a clue about the fabled lost city of Atlantis. Or it could damn them all to an unforgiving, watery grave.

Review: Dragon's Secret by Miranda Martin 3 of 5 stars

Dragon's Secret (Red Planet Dragons of Tajss, #14)

Dragon's Secret by Miranda Martin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Nora seems to be the woman stuck without a Zmaj mate (they are all taken) and so she is the one who cares for many of the half-human and half-Zmaj children that are around. Life looks pretty bleak until an unknown Zmaj turns up. He wasn't welcomed in with open arms but her heart knows what it wants and it's him. Can she figure out how to make it work between them so that she doesn't lose all of her friends along the way?

I enjoyed this story which was a nice addition to the standard Zmaj stories by introducing a new player and the potential for even more of them in the future. I liked that Archion was very in touch with the planet and that he helped them as he got to know them more. I loved that Nora was so much stronger than she and the rest of the humans probably realised. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: The Vampire's Captive: A House Of Immortals Vampire Romance Novel by Sofia Storm by Kathrin Hutson by Rebecca Hamilton 5 of 5 stars

The Vampire's Captive: A House Of Immortals Vampire Romance Novel The Vampire's Captive: A House Of Immortals Vampire Romance Novel by Sofia Storm by Kathrin Hutson by Rebecca Hamilton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Arietta Heron is the prized blood slave of a cruel master who is the Vampire King for Nevada that spends her “free” time longing for freedom. Then one night a strange but ancient vampire kidnaps her and changes everything that she knows of serving one master and one master alone. A Viking takes what he wants and every vampire around wants a taste of Bjorn’s new prize. In the past he fell for a blood slave and it almost ruined him and so he is determined not to make the same mistake again, but having found Arietta she has turned his immortal world upside down and he just can’t help himself. Fulling claiming her is a dangerous game and with a continent of dangerous vampires on his heels, he needs to gain her submission to protect that which does not belong to him while hoping that her unbreakable spirit doesn’t get them killed in the process.

OMG – I was addicted to this story from the start to the finish. I was completely transfixed by the relationship between Arietta and Bjorn as well as her reckless determination to gain information even if it was dangerous to do so. Their dynamic was almost hypnotic as I was wondering what was going to happen next. It all ends on a bit of a cliffhanger and so I just cannot wait for the next book in the series to be published so that I can follow their story. Easy to read, understand and very easy to sense/feel their thoughts and emotions. Definitely recommended.

Review: Let Me Love You by Miranda Martin 4 of 5 stars

Let Me Love You

Let Me Love You by Miranda Martin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Zmaj Samil is not a warrior as he is not fast nor strong as the other males, but it is a memory from his mother that will help the other to create something similar to cho-co-lat for their mates. Samil's dragon longs for one female who is his choice, but he has never proven himself and never been able to get past the barriers between each other. Human Inga is broken and has been ever since they were shipwrecked on Tajss. She is unable to let anyone close to her and especially anyone male. She has just too much pain and too much fear to move past. But Samil is different as he is kind, sweet and gentle in ways that no other man is - the question is, can she let him love her?

This was a sweet Valentines novella that is a fairly easy read but will definitely make you smile. I was thrilled for both Samil and Inga that they were both able to sort out their priorities in life and find a way to be close to each other. A fun read that was easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.

Review: Forever After by Ashley R. King 4 of 5 stars

Forever After (Vampire Reality Show #1)Forever After by Ashley R. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Librarian Autumn Reid is nearly thirty years old, lives in Covey Crossing and in order to get out of a rut decides to enter the dating show Forever After. The show features a vampire bachelor and the winner gets the choice of either a cash prize or immortality. Autumn doesn't expect to get far and so is just looking at it as a bit of a shakeup to her life. Vampire Oliver Gray is also an impoverished Duke and desperately needs to get money to save his estate, so when he is offered the chance to become the bachelor on Forever After he has no choice but to accept. The catch is he has to wear Victorian clothing from the war he was turned in and to have hibernated for the last one hundred years. He does, however, struggle with the gorgeous woman with the smart mouth and the sense that she is actually his one true mate. Figuring out their feelings is the least of Autumn and Oliver's worries as the contestants are murdered one by one and it appears that a vampire is to blame. The director moves the whole programme to England to try and solve their problems but that doesn't help. Can they solve the murders and both stay alive and free to pursue their burgeoning relationship?

I enjoyed this story which had the underlying romance between Autumn and Oliver woven into the murder mystery around the Forever After dating show. Some parts of the story were a bit cheesy but other bits were quite enjoyable. It was interesting to see the contrast between the different contestants in the competition and the lengths they were prepared to go to in order to win and consider how that reflects on human nature in general. It was easy to read and understand with minimal sexual content. It was easy to read to distract you from real-life and lose yourself in another world with vampires.

I received a copy of this from StoryOrigin and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Review: Bearly in Control by Milly Taiden 3 of 5 stars

Bearly in Control (Shifters Undercover, #1)

Bearly in Control by Milly Taiden
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Charli Avers is a veterinarian and an animal whisperer and so talking to bears is just part of a normal day's work. However, when she finds a very sexy alpha man where a bear ought to be then wild comes much closer to home. Charli is drawn to this mysterious stranger and she wants to try and help him to piece together his own past that he is unable to remember even if that means she might have to embrace her more carnal desires. After shifting from a bear to a man, Barry believes he has finally found his mate, but he does need to somehow find himself. He doesn't know much about the animal inside himself, but his human heart definitely aches for Charli. The stakes start to climb as Charli investigates the mystery behind his memory loss and how it may relate to strange sightings and thefts as she might lose both herself and Barry.

I enjoyed this story although there were still a lot of open questions for me even though we were at the end of the book. It was easy to read and understand I just felt that a few subjects were not covered, not expanded upon and that the so-called agents were bumbling and not really joining up the dots properly (or communicating with each other enough). Contains some explicit sexual content.

Review: Offed in the Orchids by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

Offed in the Orchids (Lovely Lethal Gardens Book 15)

Offed in the Orchids by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Taking a break from all the chaos around murders Doreen and Mack plan a trip to a local orchid show. Many of the displays are in the community centre but more prized specimens require an in-person visit to the gardeners' homes which is a very rare opportunity. The trip is not quite a date that allows Doreen and Mack to spend time together outside of their usual interactions but also helps her to get to know more of the locals. But when of the locals ends up dead after their visit the dark underbelly of orchid growing is exposed together with an old murder. Doreen and Mack just can't get a break from crime but can they catch the killer?

I enjoyed this story which had Doreen and Mack getting to know each other a little better as well as a chance for Doreen to get involved in yet another murder - current and historic. I loved the way Doreen thinks and the way that she is able to deduce certain information but the way someone answers a question. I enjoyed the chance to solve the mysteries at the centre of the story as well as the improvement in the relationship between Doreen and Mack. (I can't wait for her divorce to come through so she gives in to the inevitable and her relationship with Mack can also move on to the next level. Easy to read and understand so that you could try and solve the cases with them.

Review: Dragon's Wish by Miranda Martin 3 of 5 stars

Dragon's Wish (Red Planet Dragons of Tajss, #13)Dragon's Wish by Miranda Martin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Melchior is a Zmaj warrior and a member of The Tribe although he has been spending more and more time in The City entranced by the spirit of human woman Addison. It he were to let his dragon take over he would have already claimed the shy and intelligent beauty but to her he is a friend and she would flee if he let his dragon win. However, that doesn't mean he has given up and he would do anything to become her mate. So many circumstances threaten the Tribe and his way of life which gives him the dilemma - can he choose between his duty and his heart?

I enjoyed this story with their dreams and their significance as well as the way that the invaders seem to be getting bolder - almost as if they are more desperate for whatever they are hoping to find there. I enjoyed the way that Melchior was patient and did his best to give her the space to make her own mind (even though it was against his own nature and needs). Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Claimed by Presley Hall 4 of 5 stars

Claimed (Fated Mates of the Kalixian Warriors, #1)Claimed by Presley Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rose has recently lost her job, has an eviction notice on her home and in a grande finale has been kidnapped by aliens. Then, to make it even worse, the Orkun warlords who took her from Earth tell her that she is meant as a "bride" for their commander. Before she can figure a way off the spaceship she is caught in an uprising by their breathtaking gladiator captives who are Kalixians. To describe them their skin is bronze coloured, they have horns and very large muscles. Tordax their leader is the most stunning to look at and his touch sets of fireworks and Rose is drawn to him in a way that she just can't understand - made worse as they don't even speak the same language. The question is - is Rose safe now or has she just swapped one captor for another?

I enjoyed this story with the alien abduction mixed into rescue from one alien race to another mixed into a fated mate story. I enjoyed the way that the Kalixianswere determined to treat the women with respect and let them choose if they were a mate as opposed to taking advantage of their power over them. I did find Rose to be very selfish and insular because she took so long to make her mind up but was more than happy to take from Tordax. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Dragon's Gift by Miranda Martin 3 of 5 stars

Dragon's Gift (Red Planet Dragons of Tajss, #12)

Dragon's Gift by Miranda Martin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Human Maeve doesn't believe in fate and that is definitely the case when it involves her and Zmaj warrior Padraig who is both enormous and very domineering. His overly protective and possessive nature just rubs her up the wrong way. Zmaj Padraig is certainly that fiercely independent Maeve is the only one for him and even though she might not agree the hot and harsh deserts of Tajss will force them together which will give him an opportunity to get everything better and right between them. When the human females plan to do an equivalent of Christmas he realises he can find his treasure the perfect present -he'll win her heart which is the only gift he wants.

This was a sweet Christmas story in the background of the troubled relationship between Maeve and Padraig and how they managed to fix it so that they were solid as a couple. I enjoyed the progress they made with the attackers but I did find Maeve a little bit too paranoid at times and she was definitely a very sensitive loose cannon at times. Easy to read and understand. Contains some explicit sexual content.

Review: Owen by Dale Mayer 5 of 5 stars

Owen (Hathaway House #15)

Owen by Dale Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The US navy wasn't kind to former SEAL Owen Powell. After he walked too close to a landmine he was left with leg and back injuries and a rough road to regaining his health. With his career down the drain and an uncertain future, every day is a struggle towards better mental and physical health. The last thing he expected was to find love at Hathaway House. Penny Abigail has spent her entire adult life trying to prove to her family that she is strong enough to live life on her own terms and that she is not the weak person plagued by illnesses that is all they seem to think she is. Although still frail she has worked hard to get where she is today having created several charities which hand out large sums of money to deserving organisations one of which is Hathaway House. Meeting Owen wasn't part of her plans but she is willing to run with it, however, the problem is convincing her overprotective family that the broken SEAL is good enough for her and is not just after her money.

I really enjoyed this story which was definitely a love story where they started off becoming friends and that those friends then had the opportunity to become much more if only they could get other folks to stop butting in and interfering. I loved the way that they were both respectful of each other, their opinions and conscious of not wanting to undermine each other - definitely a recipe for success in any relationship. They were both strong when they needed to be but also gave way and took the time for recovery when they needed that too. Well written, easy to read and understand. Definitely a fitting addition to the Hathaway House series.

Alpha Geek: DaxAlpha Geek: Dax by Milly Taiden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Meghan Bennett is a leopard shifter who won awards as a police detective before she left due to corruption getting the better of her team. She now works as an agent for Nick's shifter security force and has been allocated to protect a hot geek with a heart of gold and a big target on his back. Scientist Dax Hall lost his parents to cancer and so has devoted himself and his career to ending the disease. He is close to a cure using nanobots but someone doesn't want him to succeed. Finally unable to ignore the danger he gives in to pressure and takes up the offer of a security guard, although he had no idea it would come in the form of a dark-haired beauty. When Meghan cannot stop one particular attack on Dax she has to make a grim decision, and so when Dax awakes everything he ever thought he knew about life and science has been changed. Will her choices be worth the chance of giving his cure to humanity plus letting them have a long life together?

I really enjoyed this story which introduced another geek with an incredible mind and his shifter mate all tied into Nick's security company. I loved their dynamic, the way that they complimented each other and the kind of organisation that was behind those trying to stop Dax from his cure. I loved the way that the differences in the way different animals fought for example a comparison between the leopard and the wolf factored into the story highlighting how efficient Meghan was at protecting Dax. Easy to read and understand. Contains sexually explicit content. I really hope another book is written in this series soon!

Review: Sa'lok by Elin Wyn 5 of 5 stars

Sa'lok (Conquered World #18)

Sa'lok by Elin Wyn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Human pilot Keisha is best friends with K'ver scientist Sa'lok. As the war with the Ancient Enemy is coming to a head Sa'lok just lives for those times when he can work with Keisha. She is smart, funny and level headed - his perfect partner - but there is nothing he would do to threaten his friendship with her. however, when one of their closest allies is betrayed and she is thrown into unimaginable danger his reaction is not just wanting to protect his friend but the rage that comes when a mate is threatened. Teisha loves her sister, her sister's kids and speed and so when her promising career in linguistics is destroyed when the Xathi attacked she became a pilot helping the Alliance forces whenever she could. But actually, there is one other person on her list of people she loves - Sa'lok. However, now is not the time and for all she knows he doesn't like her in that way. Can they win the battle and each other or will there be a worse loss for them?

I really enjoyed this story where they were not able to admit something that everyone else could plainly see. I loved the way that they did everything they could to protect the other even though they pretended that it was just because of their friendship. I loved the discovery of the language, the similarities and the logic involved in the discoveries. It was so nice to see that they were able to move past the evilness, that love played a large factor in that plus they finally had the time and opportunity to have the HEA they so richly deserved. This was the last book in the series and for that, I will really miss them all. Well written, easy to read and contains explicit sexual content.

Dragon's Flame (Red Planet Dragons of Tajss, #11)

Dragon's Flame by Miranda Martin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Fallon wakes up hungover and wanting to be put out of her misery - then she opens her eyes and is shocked. She is not in her own cave and is in bed with a sleeping and very muscled (but naked) form of Zmaj Arawn. She does her best to slip away and do the traditional Wal of Shame - however, Arwen is not going to let her go that easy even if it takes him time to convince her that they belong together.

I enjoyed this story although Fallon was more than a little annoying at times due to her resistance even though she was clearly interested in him. Arawn was a typical Zmaj male but he was a little more patient as he had obviously worked out that he needed to treat her like a nervous animal/person. Easy to read and understand. Review: Navat by Elin Wyn 3 of 5 stars

Navat (Conquered World #17)

Navat by Elin Wyn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Alessa makes his blood boil but he just can't tell if it is from frustration or desire. Navat might have to work with the human woman but he doesn't have to like her nor her attitude. The problem is he feels drawn to the soft curve of her lips, her stormy eyes and the way his skin burns when they touch. Then we have to consider the way that just the scent of her makes him lose his mind whenever she is near to him. He's definitely found his mate if only they can find a way to work and be together.

I enjoyed this story as they did more exploration of the mystery around the Ancient Ones all centred around a building which meant that he needed Alessa's expertise as a mechanical engineer. Their meeting wasn't harmonious (which is often the case for these guys and their mates) although the dramas and dangers that they encountered and survived were all new and unique to their location and what they were doing. I did find Alessa hard work at times and I often felt very sorry for Navat who was only trying to please her while giving her space. Easy to read and understand. Review: Deceptive by K.E. Osborn 5 of 5 stars

Deceptive (Houston Defiance MC #6)Deceptive by K.E. Osborn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Billie ran into some of the guys from Houston Defiance MC seeking help from an attacker and Phantom is immediately helpful and making commitments to protect her. He might only be just out of being a prospect at the club and therefore should keep his nose clean and do whatever he is told or asked to do, but he just wants to protect her even if it involves breaking a few rules. The brother members of the club are rightly suspicious of both Billie but also her story of the attacker and what happened to her. Then it becomes clear to the whole club that someone is being deceptive and a traitor by leaking information about the club and its interests. This is not great timing as an old enemy is getting ready to strike just at the time that Phantom and Billie are getting closer. In a world where there isn't just black and white but a variety of shades of grey, how will folks, their loves and their relationships survive when the deceit and rage are all that they can get their heads around to process and the betrayal has come from someone who you would never have predicted it to be?

This was definitely a book full of passion, love, hate and rage after the effects of the deceit are felt. I loved the level of analysis of the emotions and thoughts that were involved in this very dramatic story. It was great to see who phantom had to mature after his infatuation in earlier books in the series as well as the way that the club members were so much stronger together when they were all working towards a common aim. This was clear and easy to understand and the thoughts and emotions were easy to feel. Contains explicit sexual content.

A most heinous act.

Review: The Stalking Dead by Eva Chase 5 of 5 stars

The Stalking Dead (Gang of Ghouls, #1)The Stalking Dead by Eva Chase
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lily did something that she cannot remember in the past and has spent seven years locked away in a mental ward, but they finally have had to admit that she is fine and so has moved back near to home so that she can finish her education and try to honour a promise to protect her sister Marisol (if she can ever get near to her). So she works a part-time job, attend school and live in a small apartment. The problem is no one in the town is prepared to let her forget her problem (even though she has no idea what it was), her Mum and Step-Father want nothing to do with her and her sister just runs away from her. Then she has the imaginary friend problem - her four childhood imaginary friends barge back into her life in a real way. They are crude, have criminal tendencies and are unstable after being trapped in an afterlife limbo, but they are determined to protect her - even if that involves violence = something she finds strangely appealing. Can Lily plus Kai, Nox, Ruin and Jett find a way to live and love together and work out what happened to her years ago?

I really enjoyed this first book in the new series by the author. It had a delightful mixture of real-life, supernatural skills and a reverse harem. I am definitely intrigued by what the mystery events were that put Lily in the mental ward as well as exploring her newfound skills and what she might be able to do. Definitely easy to read and understand plus easy to become addicted to as a story. Contains some sexual content.

I received an advanced copy of this story and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Review: Cazak by Elin Wyn 3 of 5 stars

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Skotan warrior Cazak only wants a simple life even though that can appear a tall order as he is stranded on an alien planet that is under constant attack. Human Sibyl is beautiful, headstrong and desperate to escape from her artificial life as the daughter of a politician. When her father becomes possessed by the Ancient Enemies her safety rests in the hands of Cazak. As her life crumbs around her can she trust him to see the real her and not the facade she presents to others?

I enjoyed this story which managed to have the story of Cazak meeting his mate, more information on the Ancient Enemy and a little more about how that Ancient Enemy was affecting the society on that planet. I loved level headed Cazak who definitely loosened up a little when he met his mate even though he still remained steadfast and very logical in who Sibyl was and how to help her. Easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.

Review: Roar of the Worlds by Milly Taiden 4 of 5 stars

Roar of the Worlds (Paranormal Dating Agency Book 34)

Roar of the Worlds by Milly Taiden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lion shifter Prince Archon loves his life on planet Haize but he is missing one thing - a mate. He knows he can find one on Earth but hasn't been tempted enough to make the journey until he becomes fascinated by motorcycles. Leah has had bad luck with men and jobs and so when she is approached by Gerri Wilder she is really not sure what to think. Should she take a chance with the alien shifter prince or stay in her life as it is? Having made her decision she didn't expect the prince to be so hot. As soon as Archon steps through the wormhole he has a beautiful human female who he knows is his mate - he will do anything to protect and keep her - even if it means giving up his crown and never returning to Haize.

I enjoyed this book which was a classic paranormal dating agency book with the extra factor of the motorcycle road trip and all of the ensuing complications and events. Leah was a strong and sassy woman who just needed a bit more time to get her head around Archon, the fact that she deserved love and respect and that so really could have it all if she took the chance. Well written and easy to read/understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: An Iron Fist by Nazri Noor 5 of 5 stars

An Iron Fist (Arcane Hearts, #3)An Iron Fist by Nazri Noor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Artificer Jackson Pryde and Mage Xander Wright were working in the mountain halls of the dvergar (dwarven people who mine for jewels and ore) when they find a cluster of the Chrysanthemysts. The masters of the Black Market guilds grudgingly unite to give resources to stop the fatal flowers but then they find a legendary gemstone called the Heart of Oberon which gives a whole new conundrum - where did it come from, why now and what is it constantly whispering?

Wow - this was definitely a dramatic book in the series as we learnt more about Jackson and what his skills may be as well as how he might be able to get the gauntlet to work. At the same time, it was a treat to see how the relationship between Jackson and Xander was developing and their dynamics. We also learnt a bit more about Lore and his skills which seem to appear at the right time (which definitely frustrates Jackson as he would love to know everything now). This was very easy to read and get lost in the world around these two great guys, the Guilds and the Black Market. You could feel the thoughts and emotions of the characters and get into their heads. I can't wait to find out what happens to them next as their future shows that they can become a formidable force. Contains sexually explicit content in this M/M book.

Review: The Dragon's Secret by C.D. Gorri 4 of 5 stars

The Dragon's Secret (Falk Clan #4)

The Dragon's Secret by C.D. Gorri
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Coyote shifter Melody Casper spends 80 hours per week in her all work and no play lifestyle. She works for Merlin Banking Solution who are the most secure supernaturally run bank in the world crunching numbers. With one failed marriage behind her, she is more than ready for a little fun and there seems to be no better place to let her hair down than the annual World Banks Charity Ball. Dragon shifter Nikolai Falk needs a break from the pressure of finding a mate and his work - especially as he is the last brother in his clan to find a mate. Called away to the city to represent the family's interests he attends a charity ball where he discovers the one the Fates designed just for him - if only he can persuade her that she is his one true mate!

I enjoyed this story which had the potential of some danger from witches, the risk that Melody was able to ignore the mating bond, and also the risk that Nikolai would mess this up. I enjoyed the fact that they hadn't really got around to the information about their families or anything else as they were so into each other which was funny. Easy to read and understand. Review: Dragon Mates: The Falk Clan Complete Series by C.D. Gorri 4 of 5 stars

Dragon Mates: The Falk Clan Complete Series

Dragon Mates: The Falk Clan Complete Series by C.D. Gorri
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A great value boxset of 4 dragon shifter brothers finding their mates and happiness after 500 years of servitude.

#1 The Dragon's Valentine - 3*

After completing 500 years of servitude, dragon shifter Callius Falk and his three brothers are finally free. Callius has but one mission now - to find his true mate so he can set up a new home for them all. Wolf Shifter Ninifred Castillo (Fred) spends her nights tending the bar at The Thirsty Dog - the local favourite in Maccon City. Her most recent boyfriend skipped town with her rent money and so she has sworn off men for good. Then a dark-haired stranger with golden eyes and rippling muscles comes in and claims her as his mate.

I enjoyed this story which was a pleasant read as I liked the explanation as to why they had the servitude as well as why Fred was not into getting into any relationship with a man. I also enjoyed the connection to the Macconwood pack given the location. Easy to read and understand as well as feel the thoughts and emotions of the characters. Contains some explicit sexual content.

#2 The Dragon's Christmas Gift - 4*

Dragon shifter Alexsander Falk is content to let his heart and the associated rose to grow cold just like the ice that he breathes. Wen his newlywed brother calls him home to castle-sit during the Christmas season he reluctantly agrees unaware that he is to host a Christmas party for the local teen outreach party. Noelle Gifford is the owner-operator of the new Present Tastes catering company. She has been contracted to cater the party at the newly remodelled home on Beach Drive called Castle Falk. She is determined to be bright and cheerful for her client. But what is she to do with a sexy scrooge who refuses to listen to any of her ideas?

I enjoyed this story which started as a war of attrition where he was determined to cancel the party and she was determined to carry on with it. It was a fun read and reading of how Alexsander was was really quite funny. A nice Christmas read to put you into a seasonal frame of mind. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

#3 The Dragon's Heart - 4*

Dragon Shifter Edric Falk vowed a long time ago never to fall in love again. Yes, two of his brothers have fallen into that trap, but that just makes him even more determined to stay alone. When he is asked to be the best man at his youngest brother's Valentines Day wedding he has no choice but to go there and go through the motions. Then he meets his partner for the event which causes sparks to fly and he is no longer sure he can control himself anymore. Clairvoyant witch Joselyn Coracao is the maid-of-honour for her best friend's wedding. The universe sends her a message that she is about to meet her destiny and she is determined to fight that tooth and nail. Edric and Joss both agree that the fates have messed up and make a deal to put aside their differences for the wedding but some things are just beyond their control.

I enjoyed this story where they did everything they could to stay apart and reject fate but there was nothing they could do against the mate bond in the end. It was a fun read as we learnt a little more about what happened to Edric when he was doing his servitude and why it had manifested into this determination to avoid love at all costs. It was fun to read of their determination and their failure which was quite spectacular in the end. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Bullard's Beauty by Dale Mayer 4 of 5 stars

Bullard's Beauty (Bullard's Battle Book 8)

Bullard's Beauty by Dale Mayer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bullard is alive but he is barely aware of his surroundings and as he slowly emerges from a coma he starts to recognise the general area he is in but not the facilities nor the woman who is caring for him. Even worse, he can't remember exactly what happened. Leia is a gifted surgeon in her own right and she hadn't expected a man to wash up in the shallows by her beach nor call on every trick she had to keep him alive. Her instincts are to keep him hidden even as she struggles to answer his questions. The longer he is with her the more she realises it will be hard to let him go but he is getting well enough to leave soon. But the real world intrudes faster than she expected as one of Bullard's team shows up on her beach bringing others who had been watching and waiting so they can swoop in for the kill.

Finally in typical l fashion for Bullard, we get to make real progress on the search for him as well as the solution on who was targeting the team and him too. The recovery of Bullard was well described and you could feel his frustration as he started to recover. The action was suitably dramatic and it was great to finally work out who was behind all the drama and danger that the team has been put through. I loved Leia and her own troubles and personality which was woven into the story of Bullard and the team in a way to distract and delay everything. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.

Review: Tyehn by Elin Wyn 3 of 5 stars

Tyehn (Conquered World, #15)

Tyehn by Elin Wyn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Tyehn is a green and muscled Valorni warrior who is true to type and is very steady and dependable. So when he is matched with a risk-taking and impulsive human scientist he is shocked to discover that his self-control has gone out of the window. Human Maki loves adventure and taking risks. So when she is chased by a new form of hybrid through a frozen jungle it might have pushed things just a little too far. However, the big and sexy warrior is making her heart race in a completely new way which she likes far too much. So when a dark secret from her past might hold a key to a new fight, can she trust him enough to let go?

I enjoyed this story with the new information about the threat to the planet (and the puppet master) as well as the skills used trying to evade the new hybrids. The doubts experienced by Tyehn after the new information made him really quite human. An enjoyable read which was easy to understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Dragon's Claim by Miranda Martin 3 of 5 stars

Dragon's Claim (Red Planet Dragons of Tajss, #9)

Dragon's Claim by Miranda Martin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Bashir is a Zmaj dragon warrior on Tajss but he is slightly different as he is connected to the spiritual nature of the planet itself. However, he craves a slightly different connection - on with human Penelope. She is intelligent, strong-willed and very independent but as he knows water wears down the hardest rock over time and so he is willing to wait patiently to pursue his treasure. Time seems to be no friend to any of the occupants on the red planet and when a threat comes from the skies Bahir is going to have to get Penelope to understand their bond before it is too late.

I enjoyed this story in places although I did find some of the politics in the human settlement a little too detailed considering that it wasn't taken to any form of conclusion - hopefully it will be resolved in the next book in the series. I liked the relationship between Bahir and Penelope and the spiritual stuff with feeling what was within the land was a nice twist. East to read and understand. Review: Jalok by Elin Wyn 3 of 5 stars

Jalok (Conquered World, #14)

Jalok by Elin Wyn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Skotan warrior Jalok has an anger management problem and is only interested in battle whether that be with Xathi, walking trees or rioting mobs. Scientist Dottie loves the quiet life she has in Kaster. She has friends, an inherited bicycle and a killer recipe for chilli chocolate brownies. When Jalok is assigned to protect her sparks start to fly. He is certainly tough enough to protect her from anything but she doesn't want to be protected and so the question is are they going to be safe from each other and can they stop arguing for long enough to kiss each other?

This was a pleasant story that added more information to the mystery of the puppet master and potential dangers for the occupants of the planet. It was fun to see how Jalok learnt how to control his temper and his violence - he just needed Dottie to be the voice of reason in his head. Easy to read and understand however a bit irritating in places with their massive differences. Contains some sexual content.

Review: Midnight Mated by Milly Taiden 4 of 5 stars

Midnight Mated (City Wolves Book 3)

Midnight Mated by Milly Taiden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wolf shifter and businessman Iver Amana promotes good nightclubs which liven up the New York City party scene. He is not interested in having a mate nor a family – his older brothers and sister are busy doing that. Then all of that changes when he sees a bachelorette dancing in his club only for him to realise he has to let his mate go even before he has ever had the chance to be with her. Jovi Duke hasn’t had the best of years – after catching her fiance cheating with her maid of honour the night before her wedding she has had to rebuild her life by focussing on her teaching career. Fate always seems to play a had and unbeknownst to her one of her students has an uncle who is interested in funding a community outreach program is also the sexy stranger who she once danced with. Both Iver and Jovi are destined to be together – but only if they give in to the attraction to each other and ignore their dominant stubborn streaks. However, before their romance has a chance to bloom, secrets and jealousy might take away their opportunity at the love of a lifetime.

I really enjoyed this book with the story of how Iver met Jovi and how fate interceded to make sure that they met and at the right time for them both they had the time to make sure that they were able to form a strong relationship. I enjoyed the family and politics involved in the story as well as the interaction with his niece who was central to their meeting for the second time. I was thrilled when everything worked out for them to have a HEA as I felt that they deserved to have a future together. It was clear and easy to understand. I could feel their thought processes as well as emotions. Contains explicit sexual content.
