Review: Crimson Moon Hideaway: Ocean's Blood by Mireille Chester 3 of 5 stars

Crimson Moon Hideaway: Ocean's Blood

Crimson Moon Hideaway: Ocean's Blood by Mireille Chester
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Thomas had had questions for the last 500 years about why the vampire who turned him just left him there, why could he day walk, why could he eat food and why was he drawn to the ocean? To take a break from everyday life he goes to the Crimson Moon Hideaway Resort where he finds a surprise from his past. Mermaid Venice was banished from her pod and has spent most of her life on legs always needing to go back onshore when she tries to swim in the ocean. When on vacation she runs into Thomas and knows that he is her true mate, but Thomas wants to be sure that what he is feeling is not due to their chance meeting 500 years ago. Then the pair find themselves face to face with an evil that has been hunting for them for 500 years - can they find a way to rise out of the shadows or will events kill their chance of happiness?

I really enjoyed this story with its historic meeting, the present, their relationship and the effect of the evil on them. I loved Thomas and how honourable he was and how everything worked out in the end. Venice was a sweet person and I felt really sorry for her treatment by the pod but in the end, everything worked out for the best. Easy to read and understand. Contains sexual content.

Review: Feathers Afire by Mireille Chester 3 of 5 stars

Feathers Afire (Crimson Moon Hideaway)

Feathers Afire by Mireille Chester
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Fire demon Jens is utterly dreading his twenty-fifth birthday. Others might be excited at claiming a bride and locking in his magic, he really doesn't care - how can he when he fell in love with a human when he was eight years old? Kit is only a human, but she is the only person who can keep him calm when his flames get out of control. She is also refusing to be the reason he doesn't become the powerful fire demon that he is meant to be. So when his mother invited Kit to his birthday weekend at the Crimson Moon Hideaway Resort for his choosing ceremony, Jens is devastated as she is the only woman that he wants and yet is the only one who is there and off-limits. Will this be their last weekend together or does Fate have a bigger plan that no one could have predicted?

I enjoyed this story which had started as a bit of an impending disaster but thankfully it morphed into something which ended up being quite beautiful and an amazing match. Easy to read and understand plus this is a shorter novella-length story. It fit well into the Crimson Moon Hideaway Resort. Contains some explicit sexual content.

Review: Winning Paradise by Mireille Chester 4 of 5 stars

Winning Paradise (Crimson Moon Hideaway)Winning Paradise by Mireille Chester
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Elf and Detective Natalie Greenleaf was thrilled when she won a trip to the Crimson Moon Hideaway Resort as it would give her a chance to rest somewhere where she didn't have to hide her true nature from humans. Bear shifter Gage Loneclaw is a loner as he was exiled from his clan at a young age for refusing to follow orders that he felt were wrong. Instead, he has a quiet piece of land and his bees and so sells honey at the local farmers market. When he gets a call to say he has won a holiday to a five-star paranormal holiday resort he assumes there has been a mistake but a nagging thought has him accepting the trip and travelling there. When they meet it appears that Fate has had a hand and that they are mates - something that neither had ever thought was possible. However, the past from both their lives has reared it's ugly head and they first need to survive in order to get the future that they have been promised.

This was an interesting story that had a great plot and although I did enjoy it, I felt it could have somehow grabbed my attention a bit more than it actually did. I loved the way their pasts merge in a way that came to a head as their future together was just starting, but I did find the focus on the lawyer a little too much which was confusing at times. Generally well written, it was easy to read and understand what was happening. Contains some sexually explicit content.
