My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Francis heads to Foggy Basin for a fresh start after My Demise, finds a quirky property that inspires him to build a retreat, and reconnects with the firefighter he kissed at Pride. Next door, Kendall works to create a reptile sanctuary and quickly realizes Francis isn’t a wealthy newcomer but someone who deserves care and love — something Kendall is more than ready to give.
This was a great feel‑good story that’s guaranteed to make you smile. I loved watching Francis turn his life around after some awful experiences and build a place where other people could chase their dreams too — it gave the whole book a warm, hopeful core. Francis and Kendall choosing to slow down and truly get to know each other before anything physical was a lovely touch, and it made their connection feel even more genuine. Their pull toward each other was immediate and undeniable, and the emotions throughout were easy to feel and understand. The ending did slip into a bit of farce, even though everything wrapped up well. Still, the charm, heart, and sweetness of their journey made this a delightful read. This was an MM story with mature content.
