Review: No Elfing Way by Hayden Hall 3 of 5 stars

No Elfing Way (Christmas Falls #7)

No Elfing Way by Hayden Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

James has come back to Christmas Falls to help his grandfather fulfil the orders from his toy shop to customers in time for Christmas. He does however have an ulterior motive - He wants his Grandpa Nicholas to sell the shop to his employer which will then gain him promotion to Partner. When James gets there he finds that his grandpa is adamant he will not sell and has employed someone called Ezra to help who is just like a Christmas Elf with lots of fun. customer care and an overdose of cookies and cinnamon. So James is the villain of the piece. Ezra challenges James and after they call a truce passion takes over. They are from different worlds and James will be returning to New York as soon as he seals the deal. James keeps dreaming up ways to keep Ezra with him for another minute. Or hour. Or night.

his was a sweet story in some ways and a very predictable and boring story in others. I did like Nicholas (Grandpa) who was a kind man who loved his grandson and would give him whatever he wanted if it was that important to him. I loved Ezra who had gone through major hardship in his life and deserved a HEA. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content.

Review: His Boy to Restore by Hayden Hall 3 of 5 stars

His Boy to Restore (Naughty or Nice Season Two)

His Boy to Restore by Hayden Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Grant is a therapist and all he does all day is help boys who are in some kind of peril although his patients trust him he is lonely. He uses the letter to Santa on Cuffd to as for someone to play with him over Christmas. However, he has a patient who he lusts after and he can't say or do anything about it due to the patient/doctor rules no matter how much he might want him. Will the Cuffd distraction actually turn out to be just the very boy he loves?

I enjoyed this story with the tortured Little with the OCD that had taken over his life and the doctor who tried to show him how to control it but ended up falling in love with him. The meltdown was interesting and I loved that he cared enough to find him, get a colleague/friend involved and make sure he was safe and happy going forward. Easy to read, feel and understand. The book contains mature content within a BSDM-like DDLB relationship. Please note this book features severe anxiety, a part alcohol addiction and an anonymous doctor/patient romance.

Review: Enticed by the Alien Outlaw by Presley Hall 3 of 5 stars

Enticed by the Alien Outlaw (Warrior Mates of Zivon #5)

Enticed by the Alien Outlaw by Presley Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Human Zoey has been on the Zivonian ship for months now and as part of her exercise, she has been exploring The Oasis. Then she discovered the brig and can't stop thinking about the Zivonian prisoner who has an intense stare and mesmerising eyes. Then she starts to wonder about what he must have done as she knows that they are peaceful people but her feet make sure that she visits him every day. Then Dax escapes and takes her with him on an adventure to their original home planet to uncover evidence of a mystery. Will their mission be successful and can they return back to The Oasis?

I enjoyed this story. Both characters were suitably complex and had enough of an individual background story to show that the mate bond was not just loneliness or desperation. It was easy to read and understand and I definitely felt the jeopardy at some points in the story. Contains some mature content.

Review: Defended by the Alien Gladiator by Presley Hall 3 of 5 stars

Defended by the Alien Gladiator (Warrior Mates of Zivon #4)

Defended by the Alien Gladiator by Presley Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Human Scarlett was abducted and finds herself the prize in a gladiator fight on Teneca which is won by gorgeous Zivonian and fellow slave Akos. She is terrified of him until he then unsuccessfully tries to rescue them both. Can he help them to escape again, can he keep her safe, and can they thwart their owner's plan to use them to breed warriors?

I enjoyed this story with shows how Scarlett and Akos met, their various trials, how they escaped and how they met up with his two brothers to have a chance at a future. It was easy to read and understand, plus it was good to see that with all of their problems they could find happiness as well as a future. Contains some mature content but mostly a well deserved HEA.

Review: Treasured by the Alien Maverick by Presley Hall 3 of 5 stars

Treasured by the Alien Maverick (Warrior Mates of Zivon, #3)

Treasured by the Alien Maverick by Presley Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Human Cassidy escaped from a cruel alien trader and has hidden on a massive ship full of Zivonian warriors. Thinking that she has found the perfect hiding place, she sneaks onto a smaller ship in the docking bay. Zivonian warrior Nyx steals a smaller ship to go on a dangerous mission to find his lost brother - the problem is he has picked the same ship as Cassidy is hiding on.

I enjoyed this story with the dangers, the dramas and the way that they grew to trust each other. I loved that they had to go back to where she escaped from and how they handled it. Cassidy was really a very good actress with the role she had to play but managed to get through it. They made a great team. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Protected by the Alien Commander by Presley Hall 3 of 5 stars

Protected by the Alien Commander (Warrior Mates of Zivonk, #2)

Protected by the Alien Commander by Presley Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Human Kate Had made some life choices that meant she has been to prison but then after she was released she was abducted by aliens. The ship she was a prisoner on crashed into another alien ship called the Oasis and then she made a split-second decision with almost cost her life. When she wakes up she is no longer a captive and the aliens whose ship she crashed landed on (the Zivonians) has rescued her and their leader Ryven says he wants to help and has offered her a safe haven on their ship. Her first thought is what is the catch in that arrangement and so she guards her heart and her trust with them carefully. But when she makes a mistake she has to face the consequences and the only person willing to stand up for her is their commander Ryven who looks like she is worth protecting - but will he feel that way when he discovers her past?

I was torn by this story. On the one hand, I enjoyed the tale of what she did at the point of the crash and how they were both starting to feel for each other, and part of me was really irritated with the way that she was dogged in her determination to not trust the aliens and treat them poorly as a result even though there was a fellow human who could help her understand about them. Easy to read. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Captured by the Alien Warrior by Presley Hall 3 of 5 stars

Captured by the Alien Warrior (Warrior Mates of Zivon #1)

Captured by the Alien Warrior by Presley Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Three years before, human Tara was abducted but escaped from them and ended up on a remote trading planet where she scrapes by and keeps her human identity a closely guarded secret. However, one day she is caught stealing from a mysterious warrior called Rok, and he completely acts against her stereotype of an alien as he is furious but also offers to help her. Not sure if she should trust him (or trust herself around him) she does what she can to avoid falling in love with him, however futile a task that is!

I really enjoyed this story with the danger, drama, respect and love it was a very enjoyable story. I loved Rok who was just adorable and I can understand why she fell for him. Easy to read and understand, it was a great start to the series and set the scene nicely for alien and human relationships in the future. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Her Alien Enemy by Presley Hall 4 of 5 stars

Her Alien Enemy (Voxeran Fated Mates #8)

Her Alien Enemy by Presley Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ivy wants the same as her friends who have a mate bond with Voxeran warriors but so far it has not happened. In the meantime, as the Voxeran people are her people too she is determined to do what she can to support Droth retake power from his evil uncle. So she volunteers to join a small group to do some reconnaissance in and around the palace. When something goes wrong and the scouting party is almost discovered she puts herself into danger to try and protect all of the others by creating a distraction so she can be taken by the palace guards. They have no idea what t do with her as she is a Terran on their planet but the Voxeran who arrives to sort it out causes her chest to lurch because she recognises those piercing blue eyes - it is Kardax, Droth's brother. How could the universe be so cruel as to decide that their enemy is her fated mate?

I loved this final book in the series. Ivy was strong, sassy and very clever and her distraction was a masterstroke. She found out whatever she could in preparation for helping Droth while at the same time she was falling more in love with her mate. I loved the way that she found a way for her to get Kardax to see that he had been deceived and that their uncle was the evil one (and lazy as he seemed to be all about his own pleasure and delegating everything else to Kardax). In the end, everything worked out for the best and everyone had a HEA. I'm just sad that the series has ended. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Her Alien Rebel by Presley Hall 3 of 5 stars

Her Alien Rebel (Voxeran Fated Mates #7)

Her Alien Rebel by Presley Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Voxeran Ren arrives on a ship to try and return the exiled Voxerans and associated humans away from Nuthora and back to Vox. When he first arrived he pulled a knife on human Felicity not realising that she (and all the humans) are under the Prince's protection. After such a perfect start it is obvious that they don't like each other very much until during one argument he suddenly kisses her (and she kisses him back). In order to be able to take off and leave the prison planet a dangerous and difficult mission will need to be undertaken to disable a tower. Can Ren and Felicity work together in order to enable them all to leave the planet and travel back home?

I enjoyed this story once we got past Ren's irrational dislike of Felicity. It was interesting to read about all of the precautions around the tower and the way that they were finally able to work together as well as accept what was happening between them both. Easy to read and understand with lots of drama and danger in places. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Her Alien Protector by Presley Hall 4 of 5 stars

Her Alien Protector (Voxeran Fated Mates, #6)

Her Alien Protector by Presley Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Human Willow was taken by pirates and then send to the prison planet Nuthora with them. Her abduction was so traumatic that she cannot remember her life before she was taken. And so when Bohrir takes her from the pirates and she ends up living with the Voxerans, their mates and the rest of the humans in their village, yes they treat her differently now, but she learnt not to trust any aliens and she is not prepared to stay there and takes her chance to walk away from them determined to face the dangers on the planet on her own terms. However, Bohrir follows her out into the wilderness and instead of dragging her back to the village, just follows at a respectful distance telling her all he wants is to keep her safe even if that runs the risk of leaving his people behind to stay with her. Can Willow learn to trust the warrior and can Bohrir gain her trust?

I really enjoyed this story which showed a gentle approach was possible between a Voxeran and a human. Bohrir perfectly understood that he had to approach Willow gently and slowly in order to get her trust and that helping her with food, bushcraft and her lost memories were a long way towards that. They had many adventures and it was lovely to see their relationship build and then blossom. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Her Alien Rogue by Presley Hall 4 of 5 stars

Her Alien Rogue (Voxeran Fated Mates #5)

Her Alien Rogue by Presley Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Human Raina has had a difficult upbringing and life and so she is strong, feisty and determined to stand on her own two feet. When Voxeran Kaide declares in front of the whole village that she is his mate, everyone seems to think that is that and it is decided. Certainly not Raina! Yes, he is gorgeous and has a great smile, but that is certainly not enough for her to make a lifelong commitment. When she explains she wants to fall in love in the old fashioned way, he is not phased and just vows that he will do what it takes for her to do that. So she joins him and a couple of other Voxerans on a trading mission to Pascia where he treats her as an equal. Can they achieve the aims of the trading mission and can Kaide win Raina's heart?

I enjoyed this story which definitely had a lot of drama, danger and challenges. Throughout it all, Kaide was very respectful of Raina and treated her as an equal. It was great to see them working together as a team especially as there were a lot of twists and turns. Easy to read and very enjoyable. Contains explicit sexual content.

Her Alien Warrior (Voxeran Fated Mates, #4)

Her Alien Warrior by Presley Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Gemma in a few months has been kidnapped, rescued, and then kidnapped again. She was getting used to life on the planet when raiders attacked the village and stole her away plus in trying to save her Voxeran warrior Kzuri is also taken at the same time. Kzuri rarely speaks, but he is the bravest man she has ever met as he is determined to defend and protect her wherever they are taken and end up. As for Gemma, whenever she looks at him when he is looking at her, her heart races to make her wonder if it is the mate bond. As they have lots of adventures together and try to find a way to get free and return home, will they get the chance to discover if her suspicion that they are mates?

I enjoyed this story which had a lot of drama and danger for the two characters. They went through so many trials together and alone but throughout it all, they remained strong individually and together. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Her Alien Beast by Presley Hall 3 of 5 stars

Her Alien Beast (Voxeran Fated Mates, #3)

Her Alien Beast by Presley Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Voxeran Axen fights like a beast which frightens Elizabeth a little. She was a doctor on Earth and so she is used to being logical and calm but is currently going through the adjustment to life on Nuthora. Then she is completely thrown off her normal mode when she discovers that she is pregnant. So when the mate bond flares between Elizabeth and Axen it is more than her brain can handle at some time. There is no leaving the prison planet and so she has to go with fate - Axen is determined to prove to her that he will be a good mate but will the brutal warrior accept her and her unborn child?

I enjoyed this story which contrasted the brutality of life on the prison planet and the gentleness of a healer who found herself having to live with it daily. I did find Elizabeth's concern about talking to people strange - I know she was very independent but I would have thought she would have wanted to find out more as that would have appealed to her intellect. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Her Alien Savior by Presley Hall 4 of 5 stars

Her Alien Savior (Voxeran Fated Mates, #2)

Her Alien Savior by Presley Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sadie and Jaro don't like each other much let alone but he keeps saving her life which considering she feels that she is not supposed to be on the planet feels wrong. Why should she trust the aliens when she knows how bad humans can be? However, as they all make a dangerous trek to the Voxeran's encampment, a wrong move separates Sadie from the other and it is Jaro who comes after her. So they are stranded together and if they can't learn to trust each other the chances of their death is high. But if they do learn to trust each other they may be more than they bargained for.

I really enjoyed this story which was very dramatic with all of the dangers that they faced together and how they learnt that working together was key to their survival as often one was not strong enough. Jaro was very kind and understanding which showed Sadie that the aliens really could be trusted. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Review: Possessed by Presley Hall 3 of 5 stars

Possessed (Fated Mates of the Kalixian Warriors, #11)Possessed by Presley Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Brielle views herself as far too practical to fall in love with an alien warrior like her younger sister Nadia did with Zatir. Now she has the time and focus to try and work out who she is. So when a natural disaster strikes on Kalix she volunteers to go and help with the rescue mission to try and pay back the debt she owns the warriors who rescued them. Vrale is part of the rescue team and even though he is older than many of the other warriors there is something about his quiet and stoic demeanour although he seems hunted from the past and therefore not looking for a mate any more than she is. Will they rescue the survivors and maybe each other too?

I really enjoyed this story which was both lovely, dramatic and sad. I loved the interaction between Brielle and Vrale which was friendly and then a bit more protective and passionate. I loved the way that everyone helped with the natural disaster and that saving lives plus rebuilding were the focus. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content. Sad because it was the last book in the series.

Review: Pursued by Presley Hall 4 of 5 stars

Pursued (Fated Mates of the Kalixian Warriors #10)

Pursued by Presley Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Zatir is worldly, charming and a little roguish. Nadia is one of the human women abducted from Earth, is quiet and fiercely protected by her older sister Brielle. When Zatir returns home the mate bond sparks between them and her world is turned upside down. Her sister wants her to deny the bond especially given mistakes that Nadia has made in the past. Warrior Zatir has many enemies throughout the galaxy and when a bounty hunter tracks them down to Kalix they are thrust into a chase across the stars visiting new planets and evading new threats. During those adventures, she realises that the gorgeous warrior sees her in a way that no now has ever seen or understood before. She realises that with him she can be the person she always wanted to be - as long as they survive!

I really enjoyed this story where everything started off very tentative and ended in a true partnership that faced dangers head-on and proved 100% that they were completely compatible and definitely meant for each other. I loved that it showed the sensitive side of a Kalaxian warrior and that they really would do anything in order to make their mates happy. It was also lovely to read and "see" Nadia flourish and gain so much self-confidence thanks to Zatir. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Tamed (Fated Mates of the Kalixian Warriors #9)

Tamed by Presley Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

After the rescue of humans and one Kalixian from the slave market, human Sophie feels an inexplicable draw to the damaged Kalixian who is currently for everyone's protection in a cage. Over time, as much as they try to help him he becomes even more feral and bizarrely it is only when Sophie is there that he stops pacing and just stares at her. He doesn't seem to understand anyone but she is convinced he is in there and can somehow see the real her. Then disaster strikes one day and she wakes to find herself on the run with him. Suddenly everything she thought she knew about him is put to the test and she has to decide if she can really rely on him to keep her safe?

I really enjoyed this story which showed that brutality to captured slaves was a universal thing but deep down the original person was in there if only someone could see it and find a way to help. I really enjoyed the way that Sophie tried to communicate with him and that the Kalaxians were more than willing to go to great lengths to help a fellow warrior. Caul was a delight as he discovered that it was possible for him to have a normal life he just needed the love of a good woman, the determination of his people to get the right medical treatment for him and some time. Tempted (Fated Mates of the Kalixian Warriors #8)

Tempted by Presley Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Brooke was kidnapped from Earth by aliens, was almost rescued by another group of aliens and then at the last minute snatched back by her original captors. However, she is still determined to fight back and escape again and find a way off that planet. But when she is put up for auction by her captors she sees one of the aliens who had tried to free her in the crowd. Her instinct is not to trust him, but when she is free and with Zhori, everything he does is to look after and protect her and she starts to change into trusting him and thinking of a future with him.

I enjoyed this story and the magnetism between Brooke and Zhori (even if they did not yet realise why it was there to start with). It was great to see that Zhori was very careful to behave in an honourable way between Brooke and to not push her into any decisions or behaviours unless she was certain that she wanted it to be that way. I loved the way that the story ended with yet another Kalixian warrior with a human mate. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Damaged (Fated Mates of the Kalixian Warriors, #7)

Damaged by Presley Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

King Khrelan gets word of a group of human women who are captive and will be sold on a trading planet and so decides that a team should be sent to rescue them. Hotshot pilot Druxik is sent to lead them and Cora decides it is her purpose to go with them and calm the women down as they will be afraid of any and all aliens. The issue for Cora is that as she spends more time on the ship travelling to intercept the women it becomes harder to deny her attraction to Druxik and she knows it cannot be a mate bond as she knows it will only end up in a broken heart. Then disaster strikes and everything changes in the blink of an eye - mate bond or not Druxik needs her and she will do everything she can to help him.

I loved this story where two imperfect people found that they still belonged together and that they could still have a fulfilling and happy life together. These two people were more deserving of a HEA than anyone else. As is always the case with these guys, nothing went smoothly but through it all, they rose above their problems and did everything that they could to get a good result. Easy to read and understand. Consumed (Fated Mates of the Kalixian Warriors, #6)Consumed by Presley Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lucy has wanted a hot night with one of the Kalixian warriors ever since they rescued the human women from their Orkun captors and has made absolutely no secret how much she likes one particular alien. She has no interest in the fated mate side of things but wouldn't say no to a roll in the sheets with one of them in particular - Tycran. He is so serious and stoic, even though he is also gorgeous, although he does appear to be immune to her flirtations aimed at him. She desperately wants to be the one to light that spark. Yes, it is playing with fire, but then again maybe she wants to get burned?

I really enjoyed this story with all the adventures they had together as well as how they discovered that they could trust each other as well as be equal and take just as important a role in anything that they did. It was also nice to see that he applied his same laser-like focus on their relationship as he did any other mission he had in life. Easy to read and understand. An enjoyable read.
