Review: Champagne Charade by Leighton Greene 4 of 5 stars

Champagne Charade

Champagne Charade by Leighton Greene
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tyler never told his best friend about his breakup, and with the New Year’s Eve wedding approaching, his ex is still on the guest list. When he unexpectedly runs into his friend, panic takes over and a lie slips out — helped along by Damon, his casual hookup, who jokingly offered to pose as the ex. What’s meant to be a one‑night fake relationship quickly becomes complicated as Tyler starts falling for Damon’s warmth and all the pretend affection that feels a little too real. With the wedding — and the end of their charade — looming, Tyler has to face the possibility that what started as an act might be something more.

I loved this novella that shines because of the quiet, powerful connection between Tyler and Damon. Even before the fake‑dating scheme begins, there’s an ease and trust between them that makes the whole charade feel surprisingly natural — almost like they were already halfway to something real without admitting it. What really pulls you in is how much they hide from each other while pretending to be a couple. All the staged affection, the whispered asides, the lingering touches… they’re meant to be for show, yet every moment is charged with the feelings neither man is ready to confess. That tension — trust on the surface, longing underneath — gives the story its emotional punch. A warm, sexy, and heartfelt fake‑relationship romance where the act only works because the connection was real all along. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like D/s dynamic.
