A great series that will keep your attention all the way through!

The Shadow Born Children - 5*

Grace is 18 and has been running her entire life with her foster family. For now they are living among humans but it feels like it is only time before the angels find them as the magic which binds them is starting to fail. For over two thousand years the Half-Born like Grace have been hunted to maintain the barrier that hides magic from the human population. Then they suddenly encounter some unexpected allies and are introduced to the world of The Shadow Children. She finds a world here that she belongs in, but there are battles to come, and nothing is certain - even down to who she can trust.

I loved this book - the way they were hiding and the mixture of races and half-breeds was very interesting and added a lot of variety. The writing was very clear, the descriptions of feelings, objects and emotions was very clear. I definitely enjoyed this first book in the series and can't wait for the next book now.

The Shadow City - 5*

The Shadow Children are trying to rescue the halfborn from the Silent Homes but it feels like a losing battle to Grace - now they are having to choose whether to trust the Angels or fight on alone. She has Sam by her side, but they still have to find their way through secrets and lies in the Shadow City.

Wow - lots going on in this book with plenty of twists and turns in the plot - how on earth do they work out who to trust as it seems to be near impossible. I loved the complexity of the story and the way you could not predict the way the story was going to go. It was well written and everything was very clear. I could definitely feel the emotions and thoughts that the characters were going through. I can't wait for the final part of the story.

The Shadow War - 5*

The enemies of the Shadow Children are unmasked and the stakes are much higher than Grace had ever contemplated. Many of her friends are imprisoned and the Circle are doing everything they can to destroy the human race. Faced with a stark situation and even less choices it becomes apparent that Grace and the other Shadow Children are going to have to prepare for war. According to an ancient text there is only one way to break the Circle and their power but can Grace and Sam be strong enough to make that sacrifice?

What can I say? WOW. This is a fast paced drawing together of all the story threads towards the final confrontation. On the way there, were lots of twists, turns, and surprises where you didn't always know who was a friend and who was a foe. I felt that the ending was just open enough that there was room for a follow on series which I really hope the author creates as I will miss these characters and feel that there is more for them to achieve. As always everything was well written and clear/easy to understand. I could feel the emotions of the characters and the feelings involved in the story events.

Priscilla “Price” Jones is in a nightmare - she was dumped a month before the wedding and her vean smoothie bar is burnt down. So she accepts the first job she can and relocates to Salem OR to find if she thought her luck was bad it's gone from bad to worse. Her new boss has died and Price now has to cope with the thrift store, the apartment and 3 large cats are added to her problems. However opening a book she unleashes magic and life has suddenly got so much worse.

Wow - I loved this story which described all her problems and events which were many and often quick moving with some twists and turns. The characters in the story were charming and the way the story developed kept my interest up throughout the length of the book. I loved the premise of the story and can't wait to find out what is going to happen next. Well written and easy to read, understand and empathise with the characters in the story.

Destiny is the first black witch born into any family of the Celtic gods for 1000's of years and life was sweet as she held great parties and had a talent for being poisonous in words as well as her magic. Then she has two stripes on a pregnancy test and everything has to change. She just wants a normal life with her aunt and daughter. Then kids start going missing and she feels sorry but it's not her problem. All she needs to do is get to her 21st birthday and then she can join the free witches and escape The Family

This was a great story that had me so hooked I stayed up until 3 am reading it. Please don't be afraid or be put of by it being described as a "reverse harem" book - it was very sensitively done and there was no kissing let alone any sex. I loved the way the book ended and look forward to the next one to see how it develops going forward. Everything was well written and easy to understand.

Izzy (or Belle) is a woman who does not take crap from anyone, and after serving in the forces she has what she believes are the skills to be able to back that up. When a local mob has her brilliant scientist father a prisoner in their headquarters, she doesn't hesitate to jump on her motorbike and go on a rescue mission to retrieve him. However it's not so simple when she gets there, and she ends up caught with her father in the middle of a supernatural war between the brooding Alexander Blackwood and his pack, and the mysterious Julian Gastone and his house.

Wow - lots of testosterone, passion and danger in this story. I liked the story of the sisters, the families, their associations and how it all came to light for Izzy in a series of events and surprises from the past. Whilst I have read some reviews complaining that there was some explanation of paranormal beings that was not necessary I disagree - it added to the story as it reinforced the fact that Izzy knew nothing about this world and the people within it. The passion and tenderness in the encounters between Izzy and the Blackwood pack members was very well written and touching at times. It was great to read a story with one woman and many men who just wanted to look after her in every way. Well written and easy to feel and sense the thoughts and emotions involved in the story.
