Review: King of Midnight by Tasha Black 3 of 5 stars

King of Midnight (Rosethorn Valley Fae #1)King of Midnight by Tasha Black
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sara Mason has had dreams since childhood featuring the mansion on the cliffside and although it feels magical in there she never expected a midnight visit to end in her taking place in a mysterious ball in a fairy realm on the other side of a mirror, let alone to find herself in the arms of a man with a smile that is both sad and cruel. Fae Dorian has been imprisoned as the King of Midnight for centuries until a lovely young woman appears at his nightly ball leaving him with an internal battle between the need to explore a longing for her and the need to protect her. When the mirror is broken the king is released into her world as are other creatures - can she find her own magic via her song with the help of Dorian or will he be forced back into the mirror as the King of Midnight before her can express his love for her and make her his Queen?

This was a sweet light story that could have been improved with more details and description of the ball and Dorian's environment but was still enjoyable. I did enjoy the setting of the old disused mansion and the proximity to Tarka's Hollow. Easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.
