Review: American Traditional by E.M. Lindsey 4 of 5 stars

American Traditional

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sage once believed he’d already found—and lost—his soulmate. After escaping his abusive father, he built a life with Teddy, only to have it shattered by Teddy’s sudden death. Grief leaves him afraid to love again, so he settles into a quiet routine at the Irons and Works tattoo shop. Everything changes when he meets Will Rahman. As Sage tutors Will’s younger sister, their connection deepens, and Sage discovers Will is trapped in an abusive relationship. Torn between fear and the possibility of something real, Sage must decide whether risking his heart again might finally lead him to a new kind of love.

This was such an emotional and beautifully written story. The connection between Sage and Will is powerful from the start, even though both men are convinced their own demons — and the reasons they think a relationship won’t work — should keep them apart. I loved how they brought out a protective side in each other, especially when it came to Will’s sister, who becomes the quiet heart of the story. Both men care for her deeply, and their instinct to shield her adds even more tenderness to their bond. The emotions are clear, easy to understand, and incredibly well conveyed, making this an engaging and heartfelt read. This was an MM story with mature content.
