Review: Ransom by Aja Foxx 5 of 5 stars

Ransom

Ransom by Aja Foxx
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ransom is a rebellious biker who’s always clashed with Sheriff Floyd Hardesty, even as an undeniable attraction grows between them. One passionate night finally brings their tension to a boil, but Floyd insists on keeping things secret to protect his career. Ransom refuses to stay hidden and walks away—until he learns Floyd has been hurt and rushes back. Floyd, dedicated to the law and still struggling with his sexuality after a messy divorce, is just as drawn to Ransom despite their differences. Working together on a string of break‑ins pushes them closer, but his fear of going public drives them apart. Only when Ransom leaves does Floyd realise that claiming the man he loves matters more than protecting his image.

This story is full of big emotions as Ransom and Floyd wrestle with their feelings, their fears, and the very real stakes of taking their relationship public. Their push‑and‑pull is intense and heartfelt, and the book doesn’t shy away from the messy, complicated issues they face — from internal doubts to external pressures. I really appreciated how clearly everything was written; the emotional beats are easy to follow and easy to feel. Even when the characters are at odds, the depth of their connection comes through, making their journey toward honesty and openness satisfying to watch unfold. A strong, emotional romance with plenty of heart. This was an MM story with mature content.
