Dylan has spent years secretly in love with Axel, his brother’s best friend, and finally leaves Foxwood Hollow to escape the ache of wanting someone he believes he can’t have. When he’s forced to return home, he realises the feelings he tried to outrun are still very much alive. Axel has always told himself Dylan is off‑limits, but the moment Dylan left town, the loss hit him harder than he ever expected. Now that Dylan is back, the longing between them resurfaces instantly, stronger than before. With years of unspoken desire between them, Axel has to decide whether he’ll finally reach for the omega he’s always wanted — or risk losing him again.
This was a sweet, easy read with a dose of angst, especially in the way Dylan spent years torturing himself over Axel while Axel dated other people. The repeated “he’s my brother’s best friend” theme was silly in a charming, familiar way, but it did make their emotional loop feel a bit stuck at times. I loved seeing them finally end up together — it’s satisfying when long‑held pining pays off — but I found myself wishing for deeper character development beyond the mutual self‑torment. Their feelings were clear, but not always layered, and the emotions sometimes circled the same ground. Still, the story delivered on the yearning, the small‑town vibe, and the comfort of a long‑awaited connection finally snapping into place. This was an MM story with mature content set in the omegaverse.
